  • Don't know any of these Craig. It is a bit questionable that a group is mainly famous for "The Teddy Bear's Picnic"

  • @Dedicated1860 Jim, I think there were a lot of very "questionable" records during the New Wave era (:-> That one was an underground hit in Toronto, for some odd reason.

  • thanks for this education, craig. you play guitar?

  • @stephievon Steph, I once played mean guitar.....once (:->

  • The De Franco family was huge I understand. It is amazing how much Tiger Beat / Teen Beat promoted teenybopper bands. Just an amazing double neck on that Doucette LP. I just checked out Drastiic Measures and there is a few songs that some girl posted. She talks about them and is also going to post the whole LP. They actually sound pretty good. Very cool post Craig.

This reminds me of the 'Long Thread' that went around the VC. Excellent job~

    Rob/Boston

  • @Paneeks1960 Rob, my female cousin used to buy Tiger Beat and 16 Mag back in the 60's. I used to look at them and LMAO. They once covered bands like the Beatles and Herman's Hermits but then they went for a younger crowd featuring Dino, Desi, and Billy, Bobby Sherman, etc.

  • @bluenazz i remember that 'teen' magazine. i read it religiously because it was the source of all the beatles latest, lol

  • Some cool stuff, Craig. Seems to me I've heard of Doucette but I can't remember any songs in particular. Dr. Music??!!

  • @MrPlatypus9 Marty, I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Music didn't receive American release. They may have gotten radio play up here only because of our Canadian content regulations. The music was more interesting than thrilling.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the MAPL letters stand for Music, Artist, Production and Lyrics.

  • @aldiakaroofus Hi Aldi, I'm sure that you are right about that MAPL coding but I can never remember acronyms (:-> Thanks!!

  • "Heartbeat, It's A Lovebeat" by the DeFranco Family is mentioned by Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi) at the beginning of Reservoir Dogs. It's surprising how popular that song became if it inspired Quentin Tarantino to include a nod to it in his debut movie. WELL DONE.

  • @GuessImJustASpudBoy Ottavio, here I thought that you were going to be all over the Drastic Measures LP and you surprise with great trivia about the DeFranco Family. Who would have known? LOL!

  • @bluenazz I own that Drastic Measures record! Weren't they on that live compilation record dealing with the closure of the Horseshoe Tavern in Dec. 1978? It's a red record, another one of these 4-buck Records on Wheels Yonge & Wellesley deals and worth a small fortune today. Damn it, I have a whopper of a cold this week and I can't remember that record's title! And this is just after reading "Treat Me Like Dirt" by Liz Worth too! Looking forward to your Nash The Slash collection.

  • @GuessImJustASpudBoy Was it "The Last Pogo" LP? I didn't know that it was valuable. Mind you, I don't have a copy.

  • @bluenazz 25, 30 bucks for The Last Pogo (you're right about it's title!) and it almost always has a corner clipped from when it was deleted. Not bad for a 4-buck record.

  • Loving this Canadian series of vids!

  • @glowing00cabbage And thank you for watching!

  • Ha ha I use to have "heartbeat it's a love beat" on 45! Wasn't a member of the fan club though, lol.

  • @CapitolLimited The Defranco's "Heartbeat" song wasn't any worse than most of the singles back in '73...for sure!

  • some cool stuff here. I have that second Dr. Music LP and a later one. Was the Dixon House LP not his first solo? Nash The Slash, what a great character. Supposedly he is a massive horror film memorabilia collector. Cheers

  • @DoctorDeadwax The Dixon House LP may be a solo LP as the other LP might have been the Dixon House Band instead? I don't have the other one to check though (:->
