  • I love their music but its boring to see them live. But good for Chillout

  • Hear this song, and you will never forget the melody.

  • and the glorious day shall arrive and the Granddaddy shall ride again!!

  • hate the drums in this version but it's whatever ... not saying drummer is bad or its wrong ... i just think the actual drums just dont fit with the song.....

  • hate the drums in this version but it's whatever

  • One of the best bands I've never had the chance to see.

  • They should never have split up, just taken an hiatus for as long as they needed. That Jason Lytle was a contrary wee bastard to be sure...

  • Why did Lyttle ditch his beautiful band? I love them to death - maybe he did too.

  • @dirtyfilthytart Because only he was grandaddy

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • saw these guys in seattel at the crockadile cafe where mad season (lane staley) did their live album. now alot of people know who grandaddy is. :)

  • *disappointed love mode*

Stupid losers! I hate these bastard quitters!

    *sobs*

  • underrated is just sales, they are certainly appreciated by a lot of people. brilliant band< wish they they'd get it back on.

  • lol, Kevin sings badly.....

  • wheeeeeehooooooo

  • Just so damn good, always lakes me smile, really wish i got to see them, please come back and inspire me again

  • Great sound. I've been away from the UK for a few years now and Glastonbury is one of the things I really miss. Reading wasn't bad but Glasto was a full body immersion ;)

Would have loved to have been there for this :)

  • Grandaddy RIP

  • "I don't know what to say, I just want to keep on playing then go out there and be one of you guys" - good old Jason. I wish this band were still going.

  • Man! That instrumental section around 3:00 minutes tears me up. So beautiful and hard.

  • and now its gone

  • Really...just a beautiful song. I

  • and we agree it's what we need,

    orchestra real<3

oh grandaddy, what WE need is for you to reunite. :(

  • I saw them in Leeds on the Sumday tour. They were skateboarding outside their bus during the day and just hanging about.

I bought a t-shirt off Kevin the bassist, and an Arm of Roger album, as he was working on the merchandise stall.

    It's still my favourite gig.

  • I was at glasto 4 this..id never heard of them b4, and they played one of the greatest sets id ever seen. thanks for posting!

  • I miss them so much.

  • I wish I'd gotten the chance to see them live...

  • I saw them play in Atlanta - they used a projector to incorporate video through their routine. They played Levitz at double speed with a great montage of vintage cartoons. I wish it was on video.

  • Couldnt agree more.

  • Absolutely captivating.

One of the best band ever, has created a new kind of music.

One day people will recognize their talent.

  • thanks so much for posting that, there're one of my favourite band and unfortunately I missed this gig. I saw them in 2001 for on The Software Slump tour and this concert will always remain one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. I'm hoping to see Jason for his solo album.

  • grandaddy & meat pups are my salt and sugar

  • OOOH I'm on this video!!

  • Two great songs. Thanks for sharing.

  • Well, the first time i listened to Grandaddy was last year, playing Forza Motorsport 2 ( Elevate Myself ) and since then, it became my fave band ... they came to Brazil once, but i didn't know them, and even if i knew, it was 2001, and I was only 13 years old. I really dream to watch their show, but ... it's impossible now that they're not together anymore.

  • know how you feel, i'd loved to have seen them live.

i'm hoping jason tours when his solo album comes out this year

  • like most people i first heard them in "28 days later" soundtrack with am 180, ive proper loved them ever since then, i wish i cud of seen them live at sum point, its a crime they were never massively famous.

  • So amazingly earnest. And I don't think their stubborness killed them; rather, it gave them the freedom to go on and produce the music they wanted. Would The Sophtware Slump, or Fambly Cat have been the same if they had signed with some major label?

Probably. But probably not. At least the masses could have been awed, fucking awed I tell you! But these dudes will remain our personal secret, the band we try to push onto our buddies, the band that saved rock and hope in the turn of the century.

  • Amazingly unpretentious (or you could argue way too pretentious) band. So honest and so stubborn it killed them. T T

  • Pioneers in American music...

    Excellent Band...Many records...

    OWN LABEL!!! (indie)

    Grandaddy will be missed!

  • I've watched this so many times now. Bands are great in a certain time & place. Grandaddy was great right then. Man, really great.

  • I watched this a lot of times too, never get tired of this. It makes me feel someone better, makes me wanna flow or something ...

  • Great band, love it

  • i like ,but not to much

  • Saw Grandaddy loads over the last 10 years. I miss them.

  • The first one is nicely hypnotic, nice to listen to

  • I love seeing Jim have so much fun!

  • Wow

Never heard the first song before

    It's amazing

  • yep it is :-)

The song is called "laughing stock" from the "under the western freeway" album.

  • Sadly underrated band.

  • the second song kicks ass! I love the drummer smoking a cig while playing.

  • yes! i love that nose pick at about 5:00...

  • I'm so dissapointed I wasn't old enough to see these guys live, they sound so much better here than on the album.

Come back Grandaddy! We need you! D:

  • i miss these guys so bad.

  • God !! Thanks for posting ! Magic !

  • ""something like that" :°)

  • There will never be a greater band. Grandaddy is the best!!!!!!!!!

  • We're going to mean every fucking fiber of every fucking note we play...*cough*

i think the cough was on purpose ^_^

  • aWESOME VIDEO. I saw them in New Orleans twice and they were amazing both times. I met them and smoked pot with kevin in their bus. quite hospitable of him.

They're not trying to look hilbilly. that's just how they dress and keep their beards. All these dudes are from the suburban california skate scene (that's how they met), filled with jason's dreaded mini malls. not really hillbilly at all. more like bored middle class.

  • Sweet. This grows on me the more I listen/watch it... Grandaddy delivers.

  • I was at this Glastonbury and this video brings back great memories. Jason seemed to have loads of problems with his equipment and nothing seemed to work as it should. I felt a bit sorry for him as Glastonbury was obviously a big deal to him. I think the "YES!" exclamation at the end of laughing stock was relief that they got through a song with nothing going wrong! Nevertheless it was an amazing performance.

  • Well done for posing this video. Saw them play live twice in Manchester, UK. Both time great although second the singer was bladdered (could hardly speak but still sounded great). I even love the hillbilly look of these guys. The drummer looks like he's straight from the set of Deliverance

  • One of the few bands I would pay real money to see again.

  • Oh man I miss them so much.

    Genius....just genius!!!

  • that's the most moving video on youtube.

  • I'm inclined to agree with you! Absolutely irreplaceable.

  • To right man grandaddys music is just so real, just so much more to the lyrics than modern day generic indie.

  • thanks

  • "Laughing Stock" from Under The Western Freeway, then "Now It's On" from Sumday

  • Can someone tell me the names of the songs they play here? I'm just getting into them, unfortunately a bit late it sems...

  • I got the same part messed up on my coffee house performance of this song when jason messes up >.< Jason is so awesome.

  • yeah very very top band!!! shame

  • It's great to see when mess up at now it's on. When Jason laughs and says "something like that"

    It's a cool moment^^

  • This video gets me a bit emotional....such an incredible band....i'm gonna miss them so much. This is a brilliant performance as well.

  • that was so cool

  • this is an absolutely awesome video

  • good!!

  • Grandaddy Rocks
