  • She always looked like a sweet little doll.

  • @MLFive You're right! There was/is something about her face that reminds one of a lovely "Victorian-Era" doll! Thanks for writing!

  • Thanks so much for this!

  • @Twil1ght2000 You're welcome! Seeing and hearing Angela perform almost anything is still thrilling to me! Grateful to hear from you!

  • Never heard anything from "Dear World", thank you!

  • You're welcome! Just for fun, try typing in please, kiss her now, in YT search! Think you'll like what you hear! Best regards!

  • I love her - she is such a beautiful actress and singer and person.

Please let her live for ever.

  • @Smile6784 My sentiments, exactly! She was, is and always will be a shining star. May she reign forever! Thanks so much for your comment!

  • That 1945 pic is ADORABLE!

  • Anything she does is just pure class, she's a force of nature and I hope she lives forever, cos who wants to even imagine a world without her in it??

  • @FlamingFairy Suggest we're in the same corner! I NEVER want her to leave us! The whole thing about one being in a "class by themselves" should have been amended to "themself!" She is unique; no one like her. I'm so glad to hear from you!

  • I had to see a hand specialist (doctor) a few months ago and Angela walked in with her husband. I wanted to go up to her and tell her how much I admired her but it wasn't appropriate. I don't think anyone even recognized her. I love her movies back in the 40s/50s and of course Murder, She Wrote. She was a star back in the day but "Murder" made her a household name. She's a class act all the way.

  • @goldila No husband at the moment. Just a friend.

  • thankyou angela

  • The first movie I ever saw her on was SAMSON & DELILAH with Victor Mature. She was so beautiful. She played Delilah's sister!!!

  • @polyprinz In the film you've mentioned Angela literally was "nailed" to the wall with a spear! In so many of her earlier films she was portrayed as a villainess, tart, etc. Even though periodically shown as an "innocent," she got shot, stabbed, committed suicide or whatever! She "died" very effectively over the years. Thank God for "Mame" and Broadway where she got to live again! Thanks so much for writing!

  • Actresses back then were much beautiful. No need for photo retouching nor botox to enhance their true beauty.

  • Does she still have a holiday home in West Waterford or West Cork in Ireland?

  • @ThePearlofeire Cork

  • @palijim While I wasn,t a fan of Murder She wrote, I think that I wouldn,t mind actually meeting her for an autograph or photo!!

  • Angela Lansbury has always been a favorite of mine. She can do it all and did it all, but gave it up for a while to save a loved ones life. She inspires me to be a better person.

  • @LvCrochet I'm not sure, but I think you're referring to a family member. Saw her 2x live in "Mame" and have never stopped being a fan! As for her being an inspiring individual, I'm in the same boat with you! Thanks for your comment.

  • I saw her in a movie once as a young woman with flowing blonde hair wearing a beautiful dress and was blown away. It's amazing we don't hear more about her younger days like we do of Liz Taylor and others.

  • @Askimoula Hi, and thanks for your comment! It's interesting that you mentioned Liz Taylor in your message. Angela played her older sister in the big Liz hit, "National Velvet!" I don't think Hollywood really knew what to do with Angela. She's a pretty tall lady, but always looked older than her years, in a nice way. She was probably too good at everything; singing, dancing, acting! She was only 3 years older than Lawrence Harvey in "Manchurian Candidate," and was supposed to be his mom!!

  • Aww Angela, you will always be beautiful x

  • Probably a talent equaled only by Garland. I saw her in Mame, Gypsy, and A Little Night Music. Nobody -- NOBODY -- has her presence and technique.

  • @Goomgam Talk about a lucky person! I'm impressed. I've only seen here 2x in Mame! I envy you, and am very grateful for your wonderful comment! Thank You!

  • @NicoleHalsey13 Hi! Thanks so much for having noticed, and your wonderful comment! I don't think Hollywood had a clue as to how to handle Angela; she was a triple threat, actress, singer and dancer! It really took her until her Broadway career, "Mame" at the beginning, where she really proved she was unstoppable! The rest is history. Again, so grateful to hear from you! And yes, she is beautiful!

  • I love her!

And this song is beautiful, just like her life, her performances.

    Just like she!

  • @92Akera The song is from the pen of Jerry Herman, who also made Angela a household name in "Mame," among others. Thanks so much for your comment!

  • Beautiful!

  • @destinysansmerci Thank you. Angela's still possibly one of the most talented woman on the planet! Very grateful for your notice!

  • I thought that was genius to put that current picture at the end:)

  • So touching -- one of Jerry Herman's most underrated ballads, and sung superbly by Angela!

  • @fossefan Thank you fossefan for your generous comments! I'm grateful to hear from you!

  • Absolutely beautiful. An object lesson in how to 'sell' a song. Wonderful performance.

  • @IanScott750 Thanks for your knowledgeable comment! She is really a treasure! Her awards, and nominations for same, are too numerous to mention. Though she may not have won them all, she certainly deserves the acclaim! From the sweetest of heroines to the most dastardly of criminals, she's done it all, and better than most! You're very kind to write!

  • To think, I would have never heard this if I wasn't looking at ringtones to download on my phone. Absolutely gorgeous voice, and I didn't know it was the lady from Murder She Wrote. I adored that show when I watched it a few years back. I realized it was her because of the eyes. Of course I promptly freaked out :)

  • @DarkJoker99 Thanks for your wonderful note! Guess she's done it all, from movie, Broadway, countless Emmy nominations, Tony Awards, etc. At 80 something she just closed in Sondheim's "A Little Night Music," on Broadway. She starred with Catherine Zeta-Jones! I only saw her live 2x, in "Mame," on Broadway, the original '66 cast.

I think she was in her late 40s then, and still kicked higher than any of the chorus girls! Lotsa clips up here on YT-from "Mame," try the one with Bea Arthur!

  • she is one of my idols

  • is Angela singing?? cause who ever is she is amazing at singing!

  • The first time I ever heard this I thought it was one of the most beautiful renditions of a beautiful song I had ever heard. I still do.

  • @geosdgeo Thank you! I never saw this show, but wish I had! She was superb, and always will be. Her talents seem to know no bounds! Grateful again for your message.

  • What an absolutely WONDERFUL video!!!

  • I LOVE THIS! BEAUTIFUL... Thank you.

  • What a delightful video...thank you so much. Angela Lansbury is a National Treasure everywhere in the world. I had forgotten just how beautiful she was as a young woman in her first incarnation as a wonderful film actress...those perfect cupid bow lips are amazing. Thanks for paying homage to and reminding us of an actress/singer/entertainer of the highest order. I saw her many years ago live as Rose in a production of Gypsy...it was unbelievably good. Keep up the good work.

  • Don't forget "Samson & Delilah"!:)

  • Who could forget that? Poor Angela got it in the gut with a spear, and stuck to the wall! She was killed off a lot in her early career, but she's still with us and a national treasure! Thank you.

  • She is such a gracious and grand lady.
