More than likely just stressed. Don't tap the glass or bother it for a week or so and see if that helps.

Yea my brand new sunset platy did the same thing, about on the 3rd he stopped hiding and was more active. :)

Thats what they do. They do chill out on the bottom alot.

i have the same problem. A platy of mine is just sitting at bottom of tank, breathing, and stays there for a long time...Is it going to die?

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your Platy? I just purchesed a fews red ones and of of mine is doing the extact same thing.

I asked people on yahoo answer and a fish breeder told me that they were acting normal and mabye mating. Good luck!!
