I have a friend who speaks Spanish and English (ESL) and she says the part of the song that says "miércoles por la tarde y tú que no llegas" is actually a play on words and that Juanes is actually substituting "miércoles" for "mierda". Is this true?
@chaymaJB15 what does "hoy me sabe a pura miércoles" mean? A friend of mine said he used the word miércoles instead of mierda. But I still don't know what the phrase means.
@chriscb we use "miercoles" when one person want to say "mierda", but mierda is a strong word in spanish and means shit. he really wants to say: today tastes to me of pure shit, but he uses miercoles because he can't say mierda in a song. MIERcoles-MIERda.
@AERIALSSYSTEM Gracias for the explanation. That really helps with my understanding of the song. I felt the same way when my ex-wife left me. I still have feelings for her and I feel like "shit" because sometimes we can't help how we feel.
@chriscb oh yeah, he's right, Juanes wants to say that what used to taste like glory now it tastes like shit, your friend is right, the phrase says "what yesterday tasted like glory, today it tastes like..." and now he says MIERCOLES instead MIERDA, cause they both start with MIER, and he starts to tell another story, i don't know if you will understand me.
la camisa negra sounds really good until you find out it means the black shirt which sounds a little funny for a song title but then you read a little more of the lyrics and then it sounds alright again when you get the meaning of it :), thanks for the translation.
@dipsyhappy yes it does when you thinkn bout it in english and the words are wierd here and there but in spanish it makes much more than in english its hard to translate it . in the description some words are not what he says he says something else in spanish lyrics its better. like when you translate a english song in spanish some words or sentences ar not the same.
If you were to list the top 5 latin singers/albums who would they be?
