  • Whos the young blonde guy..I love gold city <3

  • Jay Parrack has to be experienced in person to totally appreciate his great tenor voice. Our PC speakers are really good, but they can't reproduce what we heard live that night. If you haven't been to any of the NQC events, you really should go if you have the chance.

  • you can tell these guys really love God with all their hearts.. this is an EPIC song!!

  • I agree with what all of y'all are saying about Jay being really good, but Ernie Haase and David Phelps are not just two of the best tenors of all time but they are also two of the greatest SINGERS ever

  • Please turn Tim's mic up!!! For goodness sake...he's the greatest bass singer ever!!! C'mon!!! :)

  • Absolutly amazing, the tenor is so amazing.

  • really i like him better. but God has given many gifts to those who believe.

  • Best tenor Gold City has ever had

  • I laughed out loud at the look on Tim's face at 2:39/2:40 when Jay hits the high note Tim is singing his beastly bass note and Jay blows the roof off in his ear so Tim has the look on his face that says : "woah is that note coming from a human being? 0_o" hahaha I love it

  • Anyone hear the whistle voice at the end of that song? Anyone who doesn't think that tenor is awesome must not understand the strain that goes on a touring singer..the strain is massive. To hit notes like those regularly is not very common..mostly the whistle voice at the end, which is not falsetto. It is a full voice, and falsetto is not, hence the "false"

  • Thanks for this video. It inspires us to get ready for the challenge of each day by going to the ONE who created it all and passionately stirring each other up to boldly step ahead.

  • He doesn't hold a candle to David Phelps..Check him out singing O Holy Night..I think you will find a new favorite Tenor after that :-)

  • Jay is good but I think his Dad is still a better tenor. He is the best tenor GC has had in a long while.

  • Thanks for your inspiring video. It’s important to get ready by accepting Christ as Savior. Since we do not know when He will come or call, we can stay ready by listening to videos like this one and sharing with others.

  • Great quartet.

  • Is their tenor 1 singer in falsetto on those high notes? I do believe he is.

  • @AaronNoldenMusic No. Definitely not falsetto. Falsetto is called "falsetto" because it is a false voice since it lacks medial cord closure. The vocal cords are not closing completely in falsetto and so the sound is breathy because of the extra air escaping through the opening in the cords. He is singing in head voice, which has a much higher range than falsetto if one learns to sing up there. You can hear when a singer flips into falsetto because the sound will be airy and weaker.

  • I have never heard any man hit such high notes ever. Tears came to my eyes just hearing those notes. This is by far the best 1st tenor ever. Just on pure raw talent. May God bless him in whatever he is doing these days.

  • This is my favorite Gold City combination. I think these guys are great!

  • This is my favorite Gold City Combination of singers. I think these guys are the greatest!

  • i love Tim when Jay hits the first high note. Tim: goooooo.... wat in the world is that. lol. u can tell him and jon are the best of friends

  • Wow Jay is amazing that is some pretty gutsy pitches. What a tenor. THESE GUYS CAN REALLY SING. UNLIKE kesha and kanye and all those other junky artests that just talk in rythym...

  • the only ones that are gonna go are the ones that are gone already...

  • these guys keep me interested in quartets! and inspire me to keep my own quartet together!

  • @KevinMiles10692 Jay was the best. Hands down.

  • Who is the guy with the blue tie?

  • @Shelbo3214 not sure who u are talking about but same line up here. jay jon mark and tim

  • Brian Free vs Jay Parrack vs Steve Ladd. I want to see that!

  • Greatest tenor to ever grace a stage

  • @htnash your right

  • @htnash He is good, but I prefer David Phelps or Ernie Haase

  • @bumbolee David Phelps? 0_0 he is good but he's not even in the same league as Jay, and neither is Ernie (don't give me wrong I love him too)

  • @htnash greatest tenor to ever grace a stage.....hardly. Jay is good but, James Blackwood, Rosie Rozell, Doy Ott, he can't hold a candle to any of them.

  • @Ragman517 budd, James, Was a lead, Doy Ott, was a baritone, And not against u but whoever said ernie haase in in the same category. NEVER!! Jay hasnt been singing full time and he will still blow most of he tenors out there away.

  • Love, love, love Jay! His daddy too!

  • Hello @adge140 I still do not understand what you see is wrong with Gold city moving around on stage. Because the song upbeat with a great message in it. I think there expressing that through words and dance. Can you explain why you still disagree with me?

  • @ adga140 when you are in the spirit it is very hard to stay still.

  • @Tbone5197 Thats not the kind of moving around that I was talking about.

  • im expectin jays head to explode by the end of this song!

  • I think this was Gold City at its best. I hate the way they use the stage at the NQC. I dont like them moving all around like that.

  • @adga140 psshh.. what a baptist...

  • fantastic gold city has always been great!!!! if any body knows i would like to have the 2000 nqc video I have looked everywhere and can't find it anywhere

  • If I believed in God, these guys would sing at my funeral. Awesome singers!

  • My favorite Gold City lineup ever! (Free, Parker, LeFevre, Riley is a close second).

  • I was there for this! It was so awesome

  • does anybody know what note he hit here. please tell me if you know

  • @SolomonD01 It's an Ab5. That's 4 octaves (!) above the Ab1s that Tim Riley hits at 2:02 on the words "is about to blow". Very high note!

  • I love the beat

  • @bassman3294 I think John going to the piano was just John being John. He really gets into it when he sings.

  • Has any group ever had to reinvent itself as many times as Gold City?

  • @kingward100 The Cathedrals had quite a few change-ups of the course of the years with several different pianists, tenors, and baritones at various points. They actually spun off a number of groups. Greater Vision, Legacy Five, and Ernie Haase and Signature Sound specifically. Kirk Talley left the group and with his brother formed the original Talleys. Mark Trammel and Gerald Wolf created Greater Vision, and now Mark has his own quartet, although that came after his time with Gold City.

  • Oh, wow! I have nbever heard him get quite that high before! lol

  • A lot of people talk about the Ivan Parker, Brian Free lineup of Gold City and how awesome they were. And they're right. But I have to say that this here was my favorite lineup. They were more versatile, and had a lot more power. The chemistry between the band and vocals was amazing.

  • wonder wat jon went off the stage to the piano for...

  • jay has 1 of the best voices in the industry, wish he was still singing, i bet he touched alot of people with his singing

  • Were there ever better tenors than Johnny and Jay Parrack ? If so, please let me know, I GOTTA hear it.

  • @wranglerxx look for david phelps and wes hampton

  • @SolomonD01 Wes Hampton and David Phelps are among my favorite as well :)

  • why does this vid only have less than 40,000? this need about atleast 150+!! :)

  • Not my kind of music, but I could sit here listening to these guys day in and day out. What phenomenal talent! All around. Standing ovation right here!

  • Geez! He went up there.

  • the look on tims face at 2:41 is like wtf is that....lol

  • Am I the only one who's bothered by the two people around 3:48 that apparently don't know how to clap to a song?

  • i think jay lost a nut on this song..hahaha...he is amazing...

  • No question that Jay is better on the ultra high notes, than Ernie Hasse.......

  • They need to get jay back right now haha

  • Both Jay and Brian do an amazing job with the high notes, there's a good healthy competition there. Ernie Haase is not so much about high notes, although he can hit 'em, but it's about the picture he paints while he's singing. It brings a message to my heart, and I love to listen to SS because of that. They are all wonderful, tho.

  • i seen jay parrack and brian free doing lookin for a city at my church and brian free threw in the towel he couldnt hang with jay. allstar line-up right there imo,

  • @MrGmc1989 got any audio or video?

  • @vocalpercbass18 i wish i did it was so sudden i didnt have time and honestly i was too amazed to think about it. Parrack was our music minister after he left gold city..well gold city came to do a sing this is when mccune came along, well at the very last song of the night jay ran up on stage and hit one i thought the glass was gonna break, then years later brian free & ass. comes and they did a duel with it and brian free couldn't hang and I wouldn't lie about it bc i like brian too

  • @MrGmc1989 that's alright, i can understand stuff at concerts goes so fast.. i kinda kick myself in the rear when i hear a group do something fantastic in a song, that they dont usually do, and my camera is off haha but i bet that was something, for sure..

  • @MrGmc1989 JAY has left Gold city?

  • @n4sir804 yes he has been gone a while now. its not been the same since

  • Jay Parrick is the prettiest, Brian Free is the Highest, Ernie Hasse is the Best!

    'Nuff said!

  • Goodness me ! Jay's about to blow a gasket...his face is redder than a stop light !

  • isnt the lord good

  • I've heard NO ONE with this magnitude of Tenor yet!!!

  • @papouseable Trust me their out there. But there aren't many.

  • @papouseable go and listen to david phelps you'll surely change your opinion though this tenor is really good

  • wow these brothers are into it!

  • Keep on praising. GOD is good all the time. Amen.

  • NOSSA!UAU!QUE LINDO!!

  • Will this type of singing cause a stroke ? wow his face was red !

  • This is definitely my favorite performance of this song. One thing though is that the person running the sound needed to turn up Tim's microphone more...he just wasn't present enough in the mix (you couldn't hear the second "Get up" very well). But I think Jay's high note (I think it's an Ab5) makes up for that flaw. I first thought the camera shaking at 4:06 was because the high note was shaking the room, lol. ;)

  • @GamingDrummer89 Oh, and I might mention you CAN hear Tim's Ab1's very well starting at 2:02 (on "is about to blow").

  • Jay does AWESOME on this song!!

  • Jay, best tenor ever!

  • i sung this song

  • The Best Video EVER!!!!!!!!!!

  • I, for real, can hit Jay's high note without breaking a sweat!

  • Hahahaha... Tim's look of astonishment at 2:44 is absolute golden... he looks over and is just so flabbergasted he stopped singing... of course I would have stopped too.. That's gotta be one of the only men on earth that can get into the 6th octive and sound that good. Jay parrack was truely crafted to be an amzing singer for God

  • Best... Gold City...... Line-up........ EVER!

  • ESTOS INTEGRANTES LOGRARON LO MEJOR DE CIUDAD DE ORO

  • not that steve ladd wasnt great at singing tenor, but it's so much cooler hearing jay sing this song.

  • It's really a blessed feeling to see Jay hitting those high notes. God bless us all!

  • This is my absolute fave song by them! Love it. Been listning to this one for 7 years 1/2 my life:)

  • Wow hace mucho tiempo queria ver este video, Jay Parrack es uno de mis tenores favoritos!!

    Best GC song ever!

    Jay Parrack is the man!!

    Ab !!!!!

  • Jay really makes the devil hate himself on this one.....haha

  • best video on youtube hands down

  • Jay is without a doubt the Greatest Gospel tenor who ever lived!!!! Great Song!!!

  • JAY is the best of all time! :)

  • No doubt in my mind...Jay is the best tenor that has been around in a very long time.

  • great post , thanks, gold city is the best

  • hahahaha, what can we say? They're just the best!

  • Thank you very very much... I remember watching this with my Grandpa when I was a teenager... He loved watching Jay hit that high note... Can't wait for the day when I get to see my Grandpa again...

  • @ThePackManiac can't wait to meet my papa again either:)

  • @ThePackManiac If you want to see him that badly, why don't you leave today?

  • @ThePackManiac me either! :D

  • Thanks for the great video! I have the cd version of NQC Live! 2000. Seeing Jay sing high is to me a lot better than hearing it.

  • I've been looking for this for a very long time. Thank you!
