Well, seeing as I don't think I could do very well in this contest with the media I currently own (basic laptop doesn't do well with art) and since I wasn't really expecting to win (and I really don't need anything fancy), I have decided to purchase a tablet. Thank you, Blunty for introducing me to Wacom, which I began researching and chose as best choice. You helped me decide to actually purchase a tablet, and I have decided to buy their Bamboo Pen (I need to go for price right now). Thank you
well yeah its a good formula it works its just im ticked off i didnt manage to catch this comp i suck at colouring...really im HORRIBLE at colouring and writing well ill probably fail at that to but yeah im just mad i missed the one stage i could win haha
he blunty im intrested in getting one of these but i want to ask: is this better for drawing and stuff then a mouse? because im making some art and animations with flash but the mouse isnt really doesnt really draw good (and its not that i cant draw because on paper it looks... pretty ok, but with a computer im just crap) would it be better with a tablet?
ok, sounds good but there are a lot of people who say that the cheaper brands are hard to draw with and have pressure problems so im kind of confused :P
if the people are experienced then go with their opinion ! i dont know about which ones are good and which ones are bad i just know its definately easier than a mouse sorry cant help
Technically there's no rule against it, however I'd discourage it as I'd personally like to keep this as family friendly as possible, if you can't find a creative way to deliver your dialog without profanity I'd suggest self-censoring it. :)
most games are almost impossible to play on a tablet, but using a tablet with games like Plants vs Zombies and Sim City actually gives you an advantage. i wonder if anyone has tried using a tablet with WOW. ;pD
those are like IMPOSSIBLE to get! the original bamboo... I don't want the Bamboo Fun... but I can't make your comic look good. lol, I can't make my be good. (good artist bad script writer)
I think I might skip the first part of the competition to see what I'm up against... If I still remember this exists in the next few days. it will be interesting to see what people do.
Just out of curiosity, can anyone enter, or is this to residents of Australia only? Because I know a great artist who would LOVE one of these. (Yes, obviously I'm talking about my gf, 'cause, Bluntman, you draw better than I do.)
So, if anyone's allowed to enter... even us bloody Yanks, then.. I'd like to try my hand at writing.
Still, good job with the PR-work. Regardless of what happens, I'm probably going to try to acquire one of these, now. x_x;
What a prize! I have little chance, as I'm likely competing with those who have better tools than a laptop mouse. (where did my usb mouse go?) They likely have better skills as well, but I'll pretend I don't know that one.
Question: Is this simply inking in the original or redrawing it with your own interpretation? I was not all that sure about that point.
Question #2: Is this like... hardcore inking or simply filling in the outline? I'm supposing the former? Eek! I don't possess those skills
Haha, I used that to refer to things such as those complex shading effects like you see in comics. I didn't really think to edit that so it made much sense to anyone but myself. Sorry about that. Wasn't really thinking.
And as for #1, I was assuming that, but when I first read the title, I automatically thought that it meant redrawing (I've seen people ask for this on art websites before, so I wasn't entirely sure)
I'm extremely tempted to add a ton of background stuff, but, I'm not sure if that qualifies. I read your earlier comments about what you meant by inking, but is adding background stuff accepted?
Looking at it I'm tempted to just darken it in Photoshop and call that fixed, maybe if there's jpeg dots fix them but the shapes themselves are fine. :)
Agggghhhhh!!!!!!! I can't enter!!! I'm running off of a netbook, and we all know that specs of that sort could never run Photoshop; the damn machine would practically implode! Oh the joys of being a jobless thirteen year old....
The fact that you have your own computer at age 13 should make you joyful. The fact that you are irritated with it 'only being a netbook' says a lot about your character. Be happy with what you have. Also, if you don't have a job, how do you expect to get Photoshop? Why don't you use something like the GIMP? It's free, and as long as you have at least 128 MB of ram(though at least 512 is recommended), you can run it. I must warn you, there is a bit of a learning curve.
You know, the more I think about it, I did kind of sound like a spoiled brat in that comment, and I apologize for that. I really am appreciative that my parents love me enough to blow 500 bucks on me a year. I'm more mad at myself, as I had the opportunity to get a better computer, but chose the netbook because at the time I had though I'd be taking it with me everywhere. Now the thing hardly leaves my desk.
Also, you can imagine that it would be a little frustrating, as I want to be a graphic designer when I'm older, and this device would really help with that sort of thing. I'm not used to using just a regular trackpad to draw with. This would make things a whole lot easier. I would have gotten Photoshop from my brother by the way, who has a job, and has bought the family pack where you can install it on three computers.
i like tablets but only really for use in photoshop.......i LOVE photoshop lol and are you gunna review windows 7 blunty? ive read many articles and stuff about it on microsofts blog and such and it sounds like a very good operating system
Yup when I first found out about tablets I thought they were like the Cintiq and you could see everything ^.^; I was kinda bummed when I saw it was just a grey plaque but damn it's useful. I shun my mouse now because I'm still stuck with USB mouses. Mice? Feh. And now no one can really use my computer because they don't know how to use my Graphie. :P
This is awesome Blunty. I know a lot of people who would be interested in this, so I'm sending the link around. Don't let the idiots who complain about photoshop get you down. If they can't even get/use the most common computer art program then they wouldn't produce good work anyway! Get with the times people. hey blunty, interested in participating. Are there any terms and conditions such as minimum age or geographic location? or is this open to anyone and everyone? :D
Your logic is completely flawed. Only people who have money and can afford photoshop can enter this competition. Unless you are suggesting I pirate photoshop?
PEOPLE!!! please remember, if you use yousendit or something, don't send it as a "guest" it'll come in anonymously and I'll have no way to know WHO it's from!!!
i am not hatless i just dont have one of those. my brother on the other had does and i dont like the way it looks on me. now i DO have a trench coat, WIN
So it should be, that series is aimed at the pro market (for the record, I have one too and I LOVE IT, just an incredible piece of kit!!) but it doesn't have multitouch, so "better" really depends on your point of view and usage habits :)
yeah, but i dont think that many people would use multi touch. i mean its not like a touch screen monitor. its more like a touch pad where you have to look where you touching, and the bamboo is alot smaller then the inituos so it could get hard to see where your touch, therefore making the bamboo unusable as a touch tablet and if your going to be using it as a proffesional drawing tablet (which is what it intenteds to be) then it will be also difficult, because there is virtually no pen angles
Sorry dude, but you're missing the point. no you don't have to look at the tablet anymore than you do with a touchpad on your laptop and it's not designed as a "professional drawing tablet" that's why Wacom have the intuos line, for pros... this is for hobbyists and people with a more limited budget. it works wonderfully as both a touchpad and a pen tablet, I say this as an owner of one... have you even TRIED this product before making silly assumptions?
The title of the track that is in the background PLEASE!!???

I couldnt tell you about the Tablet, but you can zoom and get pixel perfect accuracy with a mouse, I think it would be HARD ti draw with this

1. ask yourself why I used the word "inking" instead of "draw something completely new"
2. What the heck is "hardcore inking"?
3. yes.

No, why would I ask you to ink my drawings if I meant "create something entirely new"? Seriously?

i have an inituos 4.... which is better....

So it should be, that series is aimed at the pro market (for the record, I have one too and I LOVE IT, just an incredible piece of kit!!) but it doesn't have multitouch, so "better" really depends on your point of view and usage habits :)
Blunty3000 2 years ago
yeah, but i dont think that many people would use multi touch. i mean its not like a touch screen monitor. its more like a touch pad where you have to look where you touching, and the bamboo is alot smaller then the inituos so it could get hard to see where your touch, therefore making the bamboo unusable as a touch tablet and if your going to be using it as a proffesional drawing tablet (which is what it intenteds to be) then it will be also difficult, because there is virtually no pen angles
