  • The title of the track that is in the background PLEASE!!???

  • I have the Wacom Bamboo Pen Tablet. Im really glad i got that one.. But this pen and touch one looks pretty cool.. XD

  • I have the Bamboo!! it' good! lolz

  • Happy MOVEMBER blunty . You have obviously had a mo all of 2009

  • I want one !

  • i think you're cute .... :)

  • Hehehe Watchmen T-shirt. I want one.

  • nice hat

  • how do u make a online post colourfull plzz help

  • Download the .psd and open it in photoshop

  • Well, seeing as I don't think I could do very well in this contest with the media I currently own (basic laptop doesn't do well with art) and since I wasn't really expecting to win (and I really don't need anything fancy), I have decided to purchase a tablet. Thank you, Blunty for introducing me to Wacom, which I began researching and chose as best choice. You helped me decide to actually purchase a tablet, and I have decided to buy their Bamboo Pen (I need to go for price right now). Thank you

  • if i didn't join this one, can i still join stage 2? please answer!

  • Of course

  • wat software do u have to ware

  • Hey Blunty,

I was wondering where the music for this video from? Very enjoyable, I'd like to hear some more. Thanks

  • only ONE art stage really...i mean really? ONE I know for a fact more people draw and ink more than they colour and write...

  • Yes, one competition stage for each stage of creating a comic. Makes sense to me dude.... what's your problem with that?

  • well yeah its a good formula it works its just im ticked off i didnt manage to catch this comp i suck at colouring...really im HORRIBLE at colouring and writing well ill probably fail at that to but yeah im just mad i missed the one stage i could win haha

  • he blunty im intrested in getting one of these but i want to ask: is this better for drawing and stuff then a mouse? because im making some art and animations with flash but the mouse isnt really doesnt really draw good (and its not that i cant draw because on paper it looks... pretty ok, but with a computer im just crap) would it be better with a tablet?

  • I couldnt tell you about the Tablet, but you can zoom and get pixel perfect accuracy with a mouse, I think it would be HARD ti draw with this

  • yes definately ! but you dont need a top range one if you can draw on paper you can draw on a tablet

  • ok, sounds good but there are a lot of people who say that the cheaper brands are hard to draw with and have pressure problems so im kind of confused :P

  • if the people are experienced then go with their opinion ! i dont know about which ones are good and which ones are bad i just know its definately easier than a mouse sorry cant help

  • okay, well thanks everything

  • I love the Wacom Tablets, I have one myself and its very handy.

  • Yeah, I have a Cintiq21UX...I LOVE IT...its amazing.

  • Question about the writing contest part thing....Can we use profanity? If not...Will bleeps or stars work?

  • Technically there's no rule against it, however I'd discourage it as I'd personally like to keep this as family friendly as possible, if you can't find a creative way to deliver your dialog without profanity I'd suggest self-censoring it. :)

  • Which would mean either *stars* or blurs....Alrighty! Thanks....

  • Try using it with Mudbox - awesome!

  • is " Inking It " just adding a black outline to it?

  • Wow, technology is really rocking. How'd you deal with the whole drought/dust cloud thing?

  • I can colour, the line art, trying to retrace it didn't work too well...

  • so when is the first part due exactly? I just saw this video but I really wanna enter...

  • Comment removed

  • most games are almost impossible to play on a tablet, but using a tablet with games like Plants vs Zombies and Sim City actually gives you an advantage. i wonder if anyone has tried using a tablet with WOW. ;pD

  • those are like IMPOSSIBLE to get! the original bamboo... I don't want the Bamboo Fun... but I can't make your comic look good. lol, I can't make my be good. (good artist bad script writer)

  • I think I might skip the first part of the competition to see what I'm up against... If I still remember this exists in the next few days. it will be interesting to see what people do.

  • Im between buying Baboo Fun medium and buying a xbox360. Can anyone help me?

  • I have that exact one i use for animating, but its only pen activated.

  • Damn... I wish I had one of those.

  • I lack art skills, but I very much look forward to seeing the end result of this nonsense ^_^

    goodluck to all!

  • Just out of curiosity, can anyone enter, or is this to residents of Australia only? Because I know a great artist who would LOVE one of these. (Yes, obviously I'm talking about my gf, 'cause, Bluntman, you draw better than I do.)

So, if anyone's allowed to enter... even us bloody Yanks, then.. I'd like to try my hand at writing.

    Still, good job with the PR-work. Regardless of what happens, I'm probably going to try to acquire one of these, now. x_x;

  • open to all

  • cool story bro

  • What a prize! I have little chance, as I'm likely competing with those who have better tools than a laptop mouse. (where did my usb mouse go?) They likely have better skills as well, but I'll pretend I don't know that one.

Question: Is this simply inking in the original or redrawing it with your own interpretation? I was not all that sure about that point.

Question #2: Is this like... hardcore inking or simply filling in the outline? I'm supposing the former? Eek! I don't possess those skills

  • Question #3, which I forgot to ask: Is it possible to submit multiple entries in each category? Like different versions that you have done?

  • 1. ask yourself why I used the word "inking" instead of "draw something completely new"

    2. What the heck is "hardcore inking"?

    3. yes.

  • Haha, I used that to refer to things such as those complex shading effects like you see in comics. I didn't really think to edit that so it made much sense to anyone but myself. Sorry about that. Wasn't really thinking.

And as for #1, I was assuming that, but when I first read the title, I automatically thought that it meant redrawing (I've seen people ask for this on art websites before, so I wasn't entirely sure)

  • open to all

  • this sounds like a good idea

  • Graduated to a full brimmed hat from the backwards turned baseball cap. Blunty is growing up, sniff, sigh.

  • I'm extremely tempted to add a ton of background stuff, but, I'm not sure if that qualifies. I read your earlier comments about what you meant by inking, but is adding background stuff accepted?

  • I intentionally left the background blank to give inkers a bit of extra creative freedom, go for it :)

  • oh and is this a worldwide competition or is it just aus?

  • Open to all.

  • Sounds like fun! I'm in!

  • thank you so much for hosting this =) I entered the inking, I might vid response =D

  • does anyone know the exact date the first part is due?

  • STUPID QUESTION do I have to live in Australia? xD

  • Nah, open to all

  • Yes you do if you truly want to experience everything life has to offer.

Oh, you're talking about the competition. Sorry, have no idea.

  • Looking at it I'm tempted to just darken it in Photoshop and call that fixed, maybe if there's jpeg dots fix them but the shapes themselves are fine. :)

  • Trust me, you ain't winning if that's all you do ;P

  • Don't be so hard on yourself, man. This isn't that bad. I see potential and I believe it when you say you worked as a cartoonist. It shows.

    I'll give it a shot.

  • cool man ;)

  • is there a drawing version? pen n hand I mean

  • yeah you can see the pen attached in the promo vid.

  • Hell, I would go out and BUY a Wacom tablet, but there's one problem. I can't draw. At all.

  • I so entering! :D It looks great!

  • Agggghhhhh!!!!!!! I can't enter!!! I'm running off of a netbook, and we all know that specs of that sort could never run Photoshop; the damn machine would practically implode! Oh the joys of being a jobless thirteen year old....

  • The fact that you have your own computer at age 13 should make you joyful. The fact that you are irritated with it 'only being a netbook' says a lot about your character. Be happy with what you have. Also, if you don't have a job, how do you expect to get Photoshop? Why don't you use something like the GIMP? It's free, and as long as you have at least 128 MB of ram(though at least 512 is recommended), you can run it. I must warn you, there is a bit of a learning curve.

  • You know, the more I think about it, I did kind of sound like a spoiled brat in that comment, and I apologize for that. I really am appreciative that my parents love me enough to blow 500 bucks on me a year. I'm more mad at myself, as I had the opportunity to get a better computer, but chose the netbook because at the time I had though I'd be taking it with me everywhere. Now the thing hardly leaves my desk.

  • Also, you can imagine that it would be a little frustrating, as I want to be a graphic designer when I'm older, and this device would really help with that sort of thing. I'm not used to using just a regular trackpad to draw with. This would make things a whole lot easier. I would have gotten Photoshop from my brother by the way, who has a job, and has bought the family pack where you can install it on three computers.

  • Trade the Netbook in for something else then take up your brother's offer for Photoshop if he still has it.

  • I have one and I dont really like it...

  • i like tablets but only really for use in photoshop.......i LOVE photoshop lol and are you gunna review windows 7 blunty? ive read many articles and stuff about it on microsofts blog and such and it sounds like a very good operating system

  • Nice. Good job marketing this product. Wow, you're doing pretty good making deals with companies. :P

  • So excited!

  • Just to save you all some time, I should let you know that I am going to win at least one of these stages.

  • Yup when I first found out about tablets I thought they were like the Cintiq and you could see everything ^.^; I was kinda bummed when I saw it was just a grey plaque but damn it's useful. I shun my mouse now because I'm still stuck with USB mouses. Mice? Feh. And now no one can really use my computer because they don't know how to use my Graphie. :P

  • Graphire**

  • Just posted my ink entry. Fingers crossed.

  • Heck, I'll give it a try. Inevitably fail, but try nonetheless.

  • wanna win wanna win wanna win. never win...WANNA WIN!

  • What's the difference between a triliby and a fedora?

  • aah you discriminate against untalented people ;D

  • this competition sounds way too complicated...

  • i would hate for you to not talk blunty you enlighten everyone (:

  • I'll definitely give this a shot if I get the time, the competitions looks like great fun, it's always good to join in ^^!

  • Gay, I don't have photoshop :(

  • Comment removed

  • u can DL GIMP and save as PS doc - FREE and quite a good program search Download Gimp!

  • I have GIMP, which I use all the time. Didn't realise you could save as a PS doc though. Thanks for the advice! :) (Y)

  • Wish I could win. I'm good, but only freakin 12. Damn...

  • Comment removed

  • I do love my Wacom.

  • sick competition, Nate.

    I can't draw though!

But I'll be excited as to who wins etc.!

BTW, your thumbnail for this video makes you look like the spitting image of Tom Savini! LOL!

  • Wake-om, no Whackom.

    And about the tablet...

    DO WANT

    GIMME GIMME GIMME

  • of course.

  • is this only for the AU ???

  • Too bad I have no artistic skill...

  • Comment removed

  • I saw the title and was all ":D", but then saw it was for the Bamboo. I have the Intuos 8D

  • Heh, your "chicken scratches" are better than anything I've ever drawn!

I've just thought who you remind me of- Dr. Cox from Scrubs. Watch it, you'll see what I mean. You talk in the same way.

  • bobs your Uncle! awesome! never really knew what it means though....

  • once again man great hat

  • Hey Nate, this is GumbyandGoo's new account, I was your first subscriber, glad you're doing well, but I got one question..., paper? lol

  • Too much effort fo my liking.

  • Ill definatley try this.

I need a tablet but cant afford one

  • Smicky?

  • pause at 0:20

    cheesy photo much?

  • What do we have to do to win the magnificent hat?

  • YEAH! We want a comp to win your hat!

  • wooaaaaHHH!!!!! MUST ENTER!!!

  • finally a contest i can do too! way to go blunty

  • lol my macbook touchpad already does all that

  • as does mine.. but it doesn't have the space that this does, nor does it have the precision pen input :) Now I have both ^_^

  • sandwich you want Sandwich?NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I really don't think this is a fair contest, I am a horrible artist haha... So I obviously will not have a chance. But it's okay.

  • Oh god that's an awesome prize, plus this is gonna be a great practice!

    Awesome contest idea sir!

  • This is awesome Blunty. I know a lot of people who would be interested in this, so I'm sending the link around. Don't let the idiots who complain about photoshop get you down. If they can't even get/use the most common computer art program then they wouldn't produce good work anyway! Get with the times people. Adobe offers a program which wipes the history of the free trial, so do research and stop being idiots.

  • Cheers mate.

  • where can i find the comic??

  • You can't be serious.

  • I see now my computer wouldn't recognize the link in the side

  • And I can't use the 30 day trial because I've already used it. I thought you would have put more thought into this.

  • So use the gimp.

  • hey blunty, interested in participating. Are there any terms and conditions such as minimum age or geographic location? or is this open to anyone and everyone? :D

  • all in the text dude.

  • Your logic is completely flawed. Only people who have money and can afford photoshop can enter this competition. Unless you are suggesting I pirate photoshop?

  • Adobe offr a FREE trial dude

  • can we print it and then color it??

  • Sure can

  • Hang on... I'm a poor person and can't afford photoshop. What the hell am I meant to do then?

  • Use the free trial... or THE GIMP

  • Comment removed

  • Bring it on!

  • Bob's your uncle lol. That's why we aussies rule.

  • PEOPLE!!! please remember, if you use yousendit or something, don't send it as a "guest" it'll come in anonymously and I'll have no way to know WHO it's from!!!

  • I don't think your drawing is bad, Blunty.

  • Thats a hell of a lot of description you got there.

  • I really like the music you have on this one Blunty. What is it? Heh, heh, you have some great product there and all i'm interested in is the music.

  • i might tell my sister to enter this she is the best person i hav ever seen drawing

  • does everyone have one if those hats except me

  • Yes..........you hatLESS noob!!!!!!! :3

  • i am not hatless i just dont have one of those. my brother on the other had does and i dont like the way it looks on me. now i DO have a trench coat, WIN

  • apparently there's a lot of people that can type english but not read it. read the sidebar!

  • And what about people who lives in Israel can day participate too XP ?

  • The auditor in me wants to ask if there are any terms and conditions (e.g. legalese) attached since I couldn't find any on the wacom site.

The guy-who-can't-draw in me wants 20 days to spin around so I can enter the Write stage. ;)

  • Check the side bar

  • Aw damn me "aussies only"

Damn me for living in mexico, I'm never able to get in contests.

  • What!?

  • Oh damnit, I didn't notice that it's international... Well then I'm just stupid or really tired since it's 4am where I live.

  • Can you enter the competition outside of Australia? Say... US ar Europe?

  • Did you hear me say "aussies only?" :)

  • its times like this where i wish i was actually artistic lol

  • No, why would I ask you to ink my drawings if I meant "create something entirely new"? Seriously?

  • funtacular :3 i'm going to make those drawings look super-inky :D

  • Can we use Photoshop for inking or does it have to be fineliner pen? :s

  • Whatever medium or tools you want.

  • i cant wait till i get my new wacom tablet =3

  • Blunty, what about people living outside of Australia? Europe let's say, do they get a shot at this?

  • Go for it

  • oh dang, now I really need to hunt down my muse. *begins her hunt*

By the way, I must say that is indeed a mighty fine hat you are wearing.

  • i have an inituos 4.... which is better....

  • So it should be, that series is aimed at the pro market (for the record, I have one too and I LOVE IT, just an incredible piece of kit!!) but it doesn't have multitouch, so "better" really depends on your point of view and usage habits :)

  • yeah, but i dont think that many people would use multi touch. i mean its not like a touch screen monitor. its more like a touch pad where you have to look where you touching, and the bamboo is alot smaller then the inituos so it could get hard to see where your touch, therefore making the bamboo unusable as a touch tablet and if your going to be using it as a proffesional drawing tablet (which is what it intenteds to be) then it will be also difficult, because there is virtually no pen angles

  • Sorry dude, but you're missing the point. no you don't have to look at the tablet anymore than you do with a touchpad on your laptop and it's not designed as a "professional drawing tablet" that's why Wacom have the intuos line, for pros... this is for hobbyists and people with a more limited budget. it works wonderfully as both a touchpad and a pen tablet, I say this as an owner of one... have you even TRIED this product before making silly assumptions?
