So this is how it works...

Every few months X discovers how to make a time machine. So being X he goes on some crazy adventure sometimes involving floating eyeballs and dinosaurs. In the process he seriously fucks up the present/future. He then decides that the only way to stop this from happening is to go back and kill himself. Save scumming refers to the practice of making a save game prior to a difficult portion of a game and then brute forcing your way through the area by reloading that save until you get it right. Because POWDER is a roguelike game, each save can only be loaded once to prevent people using the save function to save scum. They have provided the save scum option for those who wish to do so anyhow, at the penalty of not being on the high scores.
