Very good job. I'm doing my own 3hp run and so far I've been doing pretty good, but I've gotten to the Labyrinth and Monster X is absolutely impossible. I've got the blade, polar star and fireball. Any words of advice like how you beat Monster X?

I have the Cave Story for DSi one...and im fucking stuck more than stuck...I can barely get across the falling blocks room...I have the Spur and kept the blade....HOW DO YOU DO IT!?

@stanleyopar91 Use the spur during the 2nd room with the falling blocks, one uncharged shot from it can kill the Butes (flying angels). They spawn based on how far in the room you've gone so if you try to rush it a bunch will start to overwhelm you, so you may want to try to take it slow and clear them out while keeping your focus on the blocks and trying to dodge them. Hopefully this will help a little :x

It's a minimal items run. As the spur is an optional weapon, it's not part of the minimal items strategy.

If you're still wondering, I'm pretty sure the FPS for Cave Story is 20 so if you record it again if you set that to the playback rate the audio should be okay. Extremely impressive, btw.

Fireball is required, you can't get the jellyfish juice in grasstown unless you talk to Santa which involves getting his key which nets you the fireball.

Last I checked. You have to go back to Mimiga Vill and use the Jellyfish Juice on the Fireplace to get Fireball. Santas Fireplace gives you charcoal for the bomb.

So no, Fireball wasn't necessary, but in a minimal run it is due to hit avoidance in some situations and needing it to survive. Which is also why it's used in most "minimal speedruns" for the Core.

Couple questions regarding "minimal" items:

1: Do you actually have to get the Blade? King just drops it, couldn't you go out the door of the warehouse without picking it up?

2. What about the Snake? That effectively would reduce your weapon count in this run to two, wouldn't it?

Blade has to be gotten, you can't leave the room without it.

The point of minimum items is to only get what's necessary to complete the game, since you don't have to get the snake, you shouldn't if you're going for minimum items =x

No, if you don't talk to Santa, Chaco doesn't tell you about the Jellies (she says something like "have you met Santa?"), they don't appear, you can't get the Jelly Juice, and just cannot make the explosive.

I did quite a few things wrong..most noticeably was the beginning (I had to do that part like 300 times, how I screwed it up THAT time and managed to beat Hell I'll never know..)

I go out of my way to shoot monsters because I just wanted to be safe. Everything in Hell will kill you in one hit at 3HP, so I wanted to be on the safe side.
