She could have taken a different road - seing her rebuild counterpart become an admirable, better human being just made me hate original!asuka even more.

Rei really dislikes her, but she doesn't express that, because she doesn't know how to.

@hotelmario510 Now this is pulling stuff out of your fingers. So everyone with differing favourite colors secretly hates each other? Of course, it IS meant to highlight their different personalities, but part of these different personalities is that Rei (at least the second one) Isn't a resentful person. There's no shot of Asuka in that part of her monologue and she never shows any animosity towards Asuka. (and, indeed, tries to help her here.)

That part of the monollogue doesn't show anything explicitly identifying Asuka, but clear references to other themes (infertility etc.) and there are NO OTHER indications of Rei hating her, in fact, there is counterevidence. (Rei trying to help her...) Rei is probably rather "meh" about Asuka/just sees her as "some random other pilot" (She always calls her "Pilot of unit 2") and has no particular opinion of her. (She doesn't have anything she'd consider a reason to.)

@hotelmario510 What is also red are Rei's own eyes which mark her as inhuman, that part of the monologue mentions blood and her infertility ("woman who does not bleed", when she thinks of Kaworu and her similarities to him, the picture is colorless save for his eyes...) So it would make more sense to assume that rei just doesn't like red because it reminds her of how she isn't really "alive" (Asuka, on the other hand, is heavily associated with "life" and therefore, red)
