I loved David but I also think that in the end they had him regenerate at exactly the right time. Matt is different but he's supposed to be and he's done a fantastic job. Amy is definitely preferable to Rose. Rose was ok but she was young and a follower, also not very nice. Amy has her own unique personality and she makes her own decisions and as much as she may come onto the Doctor she doesn't expect anything.

There was an episode in Season 3 that explained that. When Rose revived him, she made it so that he couldn't die. This made him a fixed point in time and space and the TARDIS didn't know what to do with that. Even in that S4 episode, the TARDIS went to the end of time to try to dislodge Jack who was hitching a ride.
I do really like Ten (it's almost impossible not to) but 9th was definitely my favorite. He just had the best swag and I think he was really complex. I understand why Christopher left (didn't want to be pigeonholed), but I really really wish we would have gotten at least one more series with him. Also, Martha is okay and I like Donna, but Rose is just the best. Ninth Doc and Rose OTP!

I thought Beast Below was an improvement over The Eleventh Hour, and Karen's also teriffic as Amy Pond.

It's nice to see how passionate the young fans of Doctor Who are, those who say that Tenant or Ecclestone were their first doctor. My first was Tom Baker (I was born the year he began) although I of course have stronger memories of the Peter Davison years onwards, including the sadness of the mid 80s problems leading to the '89 canellation. It goes to show how unique the show is that over 30 years after I first watched it, it's just as popular and relevant today. I feel Matt Smith will be great.

those cant be his last words because he already said that to sarah jane in his guest appearance on sja. even that was only a reference to when sarah jane left the 4th doctor and she said "dont forget me". so i doubt and really hope RTD wouldnt say the same thing again!
Is it just me or is there a link between the regeneration into the Tenth Doctor and the Tenth Doctor's final episodes... His regeneration goes wrong, and near the end his emotions are screwing him over.
Yes, Tennant had a very different personality from Eccleston. I think #9 was quite a bit 'darker' in nature.
DT was a great Doctor! I just loved him. I think he brought out the humor a bit more and he was VERY frantic and physical (lots of running and jumping about) but despite all that DT has a very soulful look in his eyes too, and I think people responded to that. Such a great actor!
I'll have to wait and see what direction Matt takes. He has a very young colligate look.
I read Doctor Who magazine that John Pertwee was called the man of action. I wonder if David Tenneant is the second man of action but with out his own car. Tom Baker used it some of his early episodes though. I saw a video of Patrick Trouton running though.

Yeah, it's David Tennant - he's about to leave, the Christmas Special is his last adventure. Last year's series, Series 4, has finished, but they're saving the fifth for the new Doc, so for 2009 they're airing specials. YouTube's always good for the episodes, but some aren't always here, so I recommend planetgallifreytv (Blogspot) for that. They are constantly updating links to all the episodes.

It's so weird seeing 10 right now O_O. He was my first doctor and I have gotten uesd to him but after months of not watching Doctor Who I decided to watch it again from series 1. I've gotten used to 9 but now that I'm back on 10 it's making me feel weird. I'm sure I'll fall in love with him again ^_^.
I keep trying to tell myself that when Nine left, I felt the same way I do now- Oh, Ten will never be as good, I gonna miss Christopher too much, blah blah blah....
But then Tennant started, and HE is my Doctor. I think he'll always be MY Doctor, but I definitely have faith that I'll like Matt. No matter how much I sob as I watch him regenerate. But David was/is just amazing.

And yes, I suspect I will get quite teary in Tennant's farewell. I've heard rumours that his last words will be "Don't Forget Me". I'm already teary at that prospect D:
David tennant will play the doctor for 2 episodes in the sarah jane adventures next season so that will keep him around for a bit longer! He's my doctor!

It's nice to see how passionate the young fans of Doctor Who are, those who say that Tenant or Ecclestone were their first doctor. My first was Tom Baker (I was born the year he began) although I of course have stronger memories of the Peter Davison years onwards, including the sadness of the mid 80s problems leading to the '89 canellation. It goes to show how unique the show is that over 30 years after I first watched it, it's just as popular and relevant today. I feel Matt Smith will be great.

Well there is a big difference in personality between doctors but the doctor Well.. Sure he is an evolving character. The first doctor who was not very nice at all an some doctors wasn't afraid of fighting from time to time. But he always is the same basic person. The loner traveling the universe.

@danielradcliffexxxxx different brain, the neural pathways are changed and shaken up, one of the doctors ended up being evil for a short period of time because of regeneration shock, it changes all but the core traits of a person

@chp201 memory's yes, personality no, regeneration changes everything including the neural pathways, while the core traits remain, the personality changes, some of the doctors are funny others are serious, same guy but different personality

Everything changes, except he retains his memories. New person. He will have entirely new traits and preferences, but if someone walked up to him and said, "Hey, do you know someone called Rose Tyler?" he would know.

@chp201 actually only memories carry over entirely ... the body and parts of the personaility changes ... each doctor is similiar in personatlity, but each is also unique in their own way

those cant be his last words because he already said that to sarah jane in his guest appearance on sja. even that was only a reference to when sarah jane left the 4th doctor and she said "dont forget me". so i doubt and really hope RTD wouldnt say the same thing again!

Is it just me or is there a link between the regeneration into the Tenth Doctor and the Tenth Doctor's final episodes... His regeneration goes wrong, and near the end his emotions are screwing him over.

Yes, Tennant had a very different personality from Eccleston. I think #9 was quite a bit 'darker' in nature.
DT was a great Doctor! I just loved him. I think he brought out the humor a bit more and he was VERY frantic and physical (lots of running and jumping about) but despite all that DT has a very soulful look in his eyes too, and I think people responded to that. Such a great actor!
I'll have to wait and see what direction Matt takes. He has a very young colligate look.

I read Doctor Who magazine that John Pertwee was called the man of action. I wonder if David Tenneant is the second man of action but with out his own car. Tom Baker used it some of his early episodes though. I saw a video of Patrick Trouton running though.

I understand you. I live in Sweden and can't watch it either. =( They did send Doctor Who once. But only the first season and then they stopped since it wasn't popular enough. (so the few people that DID watch it didn't get to know the tenth doctor)
However, the reason to the low number of views COULD be because it was aired LATE on a channel that is mostly watched by old people... And neither tv nor the papers gave it any attention at all! So it completely passed people by...

Eight was the first Doctor I've watched...Nine was when I started to pay attention to the show! But TEN is my Doctor!!! After I've watched the regeneration scene towards the end of series 1 finale, then the minisode after, then after that, The Christmas Invasion...that was when I realized that I have to watch the show RELIGIOUSLY!!! I have my doubts about Eleven, but I'll give him a chance! But TEN / DAVID TENNANT...you are my Doctor!!!

Yeah, it's David Tennant - he's about to leave, the Christmas Special is his last adventure. Last year's series, Series 4, has finished, but they're saving the fifth for the new Doc, so for 2009 they're airing specials. YouTube's always good for the episodes, but some aren't always here, so I recommend planetgallifreytv (Blogspot) for that. They are constantly updating links to all the episodes.

It's so weird seeing 10 right now O_O. He was my first doctor and I have gotten uesd to him but after months of not watching Doctor Who I decided to watch it again from series 1. I've gotten used to 9 but now that I'm back on 10 it's making me feel weird. I'm sure I'll fall in love with him again ^_^.

I keep trying to tell myself that when Nine left, I felt the same way I do now- Oh, Ten will never be as good, I gonna miss Christopher too much, blah blah blah....
But then Tennant started, and HE is my Doctor. I think he'll always be MY Doctor, but I definitely have faith that I'll like Matt. No matter how much I sob as I watch him regenerate. But David was/is just amazing.
