Well this song is very much a take off of Bob Marley... CLEARLY I give Bob Marley some of the credit.... this is good oldtime Reggae style more so than 70s music... not that it's awesome
L-Richie ,do you have lessons with Phile Collines?

I wasn't a big Lionel Richie fan, but this was definately my favorite song from him. It makes my all time favorite list as well. Very nice song with a positive message. The song is also another 80s hit I might add. The 80s the 80s the 80s!!!
@Bodzioooo13 I think back in a days every musician had his/her own style .. now , every body is copy cat . if you listen to one, that will be enough for you..
NT READ THIS YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSIBLE FRIDAY BY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE HOWEVER IF YOU DONT POST THIS COMMENT TO AT LEAST 3 VIDEOS YOU WILL DIE WITHIN TWO DAYS NOW YOUVE STARTED READING THIS DUNT STOP THIS IS SO SCARY SEND THIS TO OVER VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES WHEN YOUR DONE PRESS F6 AND YOUR CRUSHES NAME WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS. THIS IS SO SCARY BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKs
I'm so glad that it grew up in a time when artists actually had talent. People now accept and pay for non-talented junk and the music industry profits, Its so sad.
You are right, the sad truth is that people are not as smart as they used to be and that's why they listen to junk. Me? I stick to the 80s and 90s music. I can't stand the junk on the radio as much as I can't stand the crappy comercials on TV
I remember when I was a "tween", this song would be played on FunRadio (95.5 WFUN in STL). I loved this song so much back then & I love it even more today! Not only does it sound great, but there's a REAL message in the lyrics.
Peace to everyone on this planet. We're one people. We're members of one another. We have a common Maker, Who's the same yesterday, today and forever, whose mercies change not and compassions they fail not. Peace and love to everyone that reads this post. I love you all. Peace, abaundant peace to you. SELA ! ! ! !
I can't believe I've found this song. I can't stop the tears from my eyes playing it. I've looked for this song for many years now. I used to hear it on the radio back in Africa. The lyrics couldn't be more true. Many thanks, Tertanqi
I also really love this song Tertanqui! I beleive it trully expresess what God wants for His children in this world. But wanting is not enough, we all need to do our share for this dream to become a true reality! until then I for one will continue to rise every morning an go to bed at night to the most wonderfull beat of 'SELA' until this drream comes true. Thank you for being part of the most Beautiful Dream of All , an until then I bid you "SELA' Peace!-Carlos.
My dear brother Carlos, you just melted my heart more then it ever was. I am short for words to express my gratitude to you for leaving that comment. I am proud to have you in the world with me, to share the amazing grace and comfort of the God of heaven and earth. I've been in tears for most of tonight, since I discovered this video at work. We can change the world. Praise to the Lord, and keep it going...SELA !!!!!
!!A Great Amen! to that my sister Tertanqui, an thank you again an don't cry but rejoice in knowing that just like the song of Jhon Lenon" Imagine" we are not the only ones , infact we need to beleive that We are the majority!!!!.
It has such a great reggae sound, I couldn't believe he was the one who sang it when I first heard it. This guy is one of the great talents in the history of recorded sound. I don't understand how his daughter turned out to be such a waste of semen.
I was a freshman in High school when this song first came out. 1986-87.Ronald Reagan was our president, Miami Vice on Friday nights. Smurfs on Saturday mornings on NBC. Saturday night live was only 10-12 years old. The good ole days. Music had real meaning.
Agreed, the stuff we hear today just doesn't grab me the way the sounds of the 80's does, it was a great time for music no matter what genre you're into.
