  • sometimes the backingtrack has some latency while going to a recorder than going to the player's monitor... but Vinnie IS THE MAN, there's no doubt about that...

  • So... who does his harmony? Cuz if it's not a prerecorded track of vinnie doing that himself, the guy doing his harmony is almost as good as he is if not just as.

  • @joegt123 No, it's a prerecorded track.

  • fenomenal

  • What gauge strings does Vinnie use?? They loook pretty thick!!!

  • The instrumental scene back in the Shrapnel days gave us a bevy of guitarists that were trying to one up the other by going faster than the speed of light, filling a single bar with 128 notes but I always loved the melodic sense Vinnie Moore and Tony MacAlpine had.

  • I like the articualtion of the bridge humbucker better like the studio version. But hey it's Vinnie it would be just as awesome if he played it on a banjo!

  • Vinnie Moore fn rox!

  • Comment removed

  • This is good, but this is not the way he used to play it back in the 80's. Listen to the original, he was much faster. Maybe because he doesn't anchor his pinky anymore?

  • @StreetFighter2010 I have to agree with you, he is still a fantastic player, but back in the days he was god

  • @Carlosgtrsnk Yeah, he kinda calmed down and resorted to more jazz and blues type stuff...

  • On Vinnie's website Vinnie said that he wasn't happy with this video because for some reason they put a backing track on the video which he wasn't playing to! So it sounds like he's out of time!!

  • @KeebRocks I didn't know that... so the backing track is added after. May be the original sound quality was not good enough?

  • @lauriemonk Yeah, not sure why they changed the backing. Vinnie only saw the video after someone had posted it on his forum and asked him if he's changed his playing technique which causes him to play behind the beat. Vinnie said it only sounds like that in this video since they changed the backing for some reason! Thanks for the video by the way! Vinnie's one of my personal heroes!! :p!

  • @KeebRocks Yes, I love the Minds Eye album. Vinnie Moore is just so melodic and his vibrato and bends just epic. A land mark release for sure.

  • master piece

  • my dad said to me one day "hey get on youtube and look up this guy named Vinnie Moore" and i was like "whatever" and we watched meltdown and i was like O.O and then downloaded every one of his albums. lets just say im a huge fan.lol

  • @lifetaker1234 It's a good thing he didn't say hey look up Justin Bieber

  • Always liked Vinnie Moore but this performance doesn't do much for me.His front pickup tone is a little muddy and he seems a little bored with this type of playing.

  • He as parent of Kurt Russell ? maybe are brothers! lol

  • He has toned down a bit since the 80's. The original solo to this song was much more aggressive, and contained probably one-hundred more notes.

  • Also on the picking, he could do better than that. Maybe he just wants to hear something new or maybe he's tired.

  • You noticed how a pleasure it is listening to him for almost 4 mins.

These others so called shredders that sounds like King Arthur theme shredding, and some other outdated, bell bottom- sounding licks, legatos etc..

The sound should evolve and move on to other dimensions.. Like Allan H.

Like Metal too and rock has to evolve, but not going futher to its roots, but instead evolve, ..like Industrial, gothic, ethereal, power-pop even.

Like Type O negative said, there's no money in metal

  • What Vinnie Moore is a bad player? Try asking Allan Holdsworth is he has the same opinion?

Most shredders just does the exercise routine (outdated sound/modes), ..Vinnie's sense of melody, and vast knowledge is tremendous that most guitarist doesn't have. And by the way, Vinnie can shred 'till your jaw drops. Vinnie uses his neck pickups for solos, incase people don't know. Bridge pickups are to edgy and harsh sounding. Anyone who says Vinnie's a bad player, is not a guitar player; Period!

  • Vinnie Moore.. why havent I heard your name before... my god

  • this guy is bad.. his techniques aren't good. his picking, his style, is all just.... bad.

  • @Prenner111 everyone has there own techniques, and especially styles. just cause he doesnt do the style ect. the way that you want him to play doesnt mean hes a bad guitarist.

  • @Prenner111 HOLY SHIT.

Saying that about Vinnie Moore is really amazing. I'd like to have a look in your mind to see what's going on in there.

  • @Prenner111 dude if there's a god out there he's gonna cut your balls so you don't have any offspring to whom pass your stupid ideas

  • @Prenner111 And he's go lots of MONEY and CD sales to show for it.... you're right, he sucks!!!

  • @weissang so does justin beiber.

  • Why is it doulbed over the studio track???

  • i like the solo on the record better...he's lost that awesome alternate picking he used to do...the solo here just loses it's identity without the alternate picking...I'm so disappointed...he just doesn't alternate pick like he used to...

  • He is beyond awesome and totally my fav guitar player! but the tone is too bity here needs more treble or something.

  • AWSOME AXING VINNIE!

  • che mostrooo

  • If you like this cover, you should take a look at "ibanezus" cover of Daydream

  • Great playing, Vinnie Moore is the man!

this tune reminds me of Yngwie's black star

  • I love that guy's playing

  • @laurie - what dvd is this from?

    Jeff @ s hredknowledge

  • @shredknowledge it's not it was freely downloadable content from lick library from the Birmingham guitar show.

  • @laurie - what dvd is this from?

    Jeff@shredknowledge

  • who knew vinnie was a monster hybrid picker

  • Vinnie sounds slopping here.

  • I love Vinnie's tunes! There isn't a single one I can say I dislike. I'm actually finishing up with "Coming home", I'm hoping to get started on "Shadows of yesterday" though that might be a bit ambitious right now. Anyways he's like the height of guitar playing (or at least shredding) isn't he?

  • @Guilleguitarrista495 - yes, I think it's safe to say he is :)

  • he is soo great!

  • for me VMis better than Satriani

  • Wow. after watching this video I cant believe how much his playing skill has increased. His picking had is simple unsupassed. 2:14 - 2:18 he pulls some sweet Jason Becker picking off thats just jaw dropping. Vinnie And Joe Stump are my favorite guitarests

  • I saw god... I touched god!

  • YEAH MAN

  • Comment removed

  • just amazing.

  • Amazing!!!!

  • fuck the guy can shift .

  • HOLY....!!! WHERE AND WHEN? I though he wouldn't shred anymore these days. I'm totally wrong.

  • @ghostwrx ...haha...well u have good general knowledge...n music is life man! haha

  • @ghostwrx yea yea sorry...i meant to write they were playing at the same time so it was kinda the same styles and that they kinda influenced each other..sry to confuse otherss lol

  • he and yngwie and macalpine played together in the band UFO which is why they sound alike...i personally think vinnie is the best out of the three he has amazing melodies...but they all rock

  • @manindaironmask To my knowldge Tony MacAlpine has never played in UFO. May be you are thinking of George Bellas?

  • @lauriemonk Yngwie Malmsteen and Tony MacAlpine never played in UFO,read little music history before you post a comment

  • @rejrockmetal er... hello? where did I say that Yngwie Malmsteen and Tony MacAlpine played in UFO? you do know who I am?

  • @lauriemonk Sorry dude i meant to manindaironmask

  • @rejrockmetal thanks.... I was doubting my sanity ;)

  • @rejrockmetal Hahahaha rockmetal you twat!

  • @lauriemonk bellas sux. BTW greg howe is awesome too!

  • @manindaironmask.. ??..Of the 3 only Vinnie was ever in UFO.....but it is nice to imagine!

  • Since the mid-1990's, Tony MacAlpine is also no longer using heavy distortion with the bridge pickup when playing his Shrapnel tunes live. I'm not sure why these guys switched up, but it still sounds very good. And like someone already said, it shows it is still possible to shred without mega distortion and humbucker.

  • damn i finally get to see him performing one of my favorite instrumentals of all time live, but theres something i wish he played it in the bridge pickup, atleast thats how the studio version sounds like..oh and how its possible to shred on a single coil what kind of pickups are those !!!

  • The pickups that you use really have no bearing on your ability to shred or otherwise, listen to Yngwie, massive shredder, all single coils. His neck pickup is actually a mini humbucker like a hot rails or something along those lines but I'm really not sure which one exactly.

  • @marknutting thats sure man you're right, but dont you think that this song would have sounded more epic on a bridge pickup??i mean the tone sounds too fat here

  • does someone know what pick up is vinnie using in the neck position?? it sounds so smooth. I like it.

  • When I bought this album I couldnt believe my ears....

  • VINNIE MOORE is one of the greatest along with mac alpine and greg howe (there is also joey taffola and many others eh eh the Varney team)

  • man, is the vin man touring with just himself. im not really into ufo and just want to see this amazing thing he does with his guitar. its called like music or something. i thought i knew music until i heard vinnie. i have been changed

  • @lifetaker1234 Vinnie is touring with Mike Dimeo on keyboards & vocals, Aquiles Priester on drums and

Lars Lehmann (uli jon roth's bassist)

  • grande vinnie moore!!! e grande band quella con aquiles priester e lars lehman!!

  • absolutely amazing!!!!

  • does anyone know if Vinnie explicitly lists Malmsteen as one of his influences? Vinnie is performing tomorrow in my country for the first time, I'm checking all of his work before going to the gig! this particular song's riff and progression sounds quite "blackstar"-ish yet the solo is very original and tasty!

  • This is a track from his first CD, so is a little more neo classical than later material. The man is monster player and well worth checking out...you will not be disappointed... I wish I could go!

  • @lauriemonk A monster indeed! it was a great performance 2 days ago in Snatch Pub, Beirut. Alot of versatility in his playing, there was obviously more than neoclassical to the menu... I think I'm obsessing on one of his hybrid likcs :/

  • I've seen him once at NAMM, and a Music Store Clinic and those were 23 years ago. Talked with him at length both times. I later saw him on the Meltdown Tour, Harry K. Cody and Shotgun Messiah opened. Also a great show. He was very approachable and his playing will tingle your spine. Powerful player in person.

  • @karimsalhani

    clearly has malmsteen influences

    but wait.

he is not just speed like YJM, he searches for complex but soulfull melodies, exotic melodies, wich make the vinnie style so popular and original

  • I Am The Greatest Guitarist Ever Hands Down...LMAO:)

  • Is he like picking those diminished arpeggios separately? His right hand doesn't look to be in a smooth sweeping motion when he plays those.

  • wow its very good people!!

  • i wish this guy got the credit he deserves. minds eye blew me away years ago and still owns everything i jus love his melodic playing

  • man we are two!!! but the people don t understand whats all about they just go and listen the easy way..... i mea satriani and all this stuff cheers!!!

  • thanks for uploading!!

  • at 2.30--37 the picking is awesome with using the pick and fingers also

  • Just beautiful....! :)

  • The original recording of this features a phenomenal Tony Mac alpine keyboard solo right after the gat solo and featured in gat player mag as a soundpage way back in '86 ,I always miss it when I hear Vinnie play this live, but its still awesum.'Minds Eye' Ruled the 80's shred genre !!

  • Vinnie is a awsome player, love to see him and tony do album together.

  • Yeah i know the whole minds eye album seems really macalpine influenced , id love to seem them playing together but macalpine has to be playing his axe and not sitting on the keys . Hope vinnie or tonys reading this :( .

  • vinnie and tony happen to be the best of friends.

  • Vinnie Moore taught Tony Macalpine! Tony actually played keys on a few of Vinnie's records!

Malmsteen was around the same time... You either liked Malmsteen or Moore, personally I've always preferred Moore.

  • @KH2R0xas taught? taught macalpine? hahahahah, please spare me.

  • My bad ;) they're just on the same label.

  • amazing! brings back memories :)

  • the cd is called minds eye and its fuckin great

  • he is good

  • amazing

  • great, vinnie moore, master

  • hes changed his picking technique thats why, he seems not comfty with that wrist picking , in the old days he used his elbow when picking..but i heard he messed up his hand and had to switch picking approach, i guess thats the reason hes not as tight..

  • I didn't know that he had been injured. What happened and when? Great player BTW

  • 2:30 WTF

  • The solo in this one has to be my favorite neoclassical solo ever. Vinnie's phrasing on it is unbelievable, and that ending...holy shit! The way he flies through 3 different keys and builds up the tension leading to that ascending ending lick is nothing short of amazing. His sense of melody is undeniable, and he's extremely versatile too. I can see why he's one of the more respected shredders - he's definitely one of my favorites.

  • @woodchuk123 ...Well you should hear the original solo ending on the album then...ten times more amazing. The sad truth is that VM has lost his fast picking technique when something happened to his right hand...you see it when he plays the old stuff like here... He's forced to skip all the old picking licks and melodies. Its all legato today. He's still amazing of course, but it still a bit sad when you realize what he's really capable of...

  • @shystylzyt

LOL - my bad! I should have clarified my first post. I meant the solo on the original recording. I'd never knock Vinnie or his technique, but yeah, the original solo just kills this live version. I didn't realize that Vinnie screwed his hand up - that must suck to not be able to do the crazy shit he used to do. This is still miles ahead of most other players nowadays, though.

  • @shystylzyt

So thats why he never seems to do any rapid picking anymore.

Didn't realize he had done something to his hand.Unfortunatley thats what I liked most about his playing.

  • @woodchuk123 Vinnie is a real pleasure to listen to..His skills are AWESOME!!!

  • vinnie moore master of masters

  • Not as tight as he used to be, but still fucking awesome. Vinnie=Guitar God!

  • Totally loving the live take on the solo section. I've been listening and jamming to this tune since the first album came out and to finally see the master play it is a real treat.

    Thanks for posting.

  • hes slightly off time with the track.. whats up with that?

  • Vinnie we luv ya!!

  • amazing feel

  • Love the solo in this song!

  • Look how many down picks he does. These little things make a big difference....

  • I agree that playing over the backing track is kinda lame, but he probably couldn't get musicians that could back him up. :46 mark lick is sick! Vinnie is a guitar stud!

  • very good. just needs the keyboard solo.

  • Interesting watching how his style has evolved since the 80s. Looks like he's incorporated hybrid picking into his playing now.

  • Yeah he started hybrid picking during Meltdown through to Out of Nowhere...since bout `91...and he does an excellent job of it...one of the most technical shredders today...

  • this is the first song I ever learned from him :d SWEET

  • Very Well

  • great playing and feeling ...

  • If I could only give that 6 stars!

  • 6 stars? that's few, I would gave him 12124321321 stars if I could.

    :D

  • very glad i found someone who can shred again. someone who has a metal shred.

  • Amazing!!! but the backing track is a bit too loud

  • great instrumental!!

  • Comment removed

  • Holy smoke!!! i finally get to see this majestic song played live by the master himself lol...10/10

  • did his guitar just go out of tune a little?

  • He plays the harmony to the lead part a few times.

  • vinnie is the man and this video rocks but he really needs to do something about that hair!

  • that solo shreds!

  • My favorite VM song , thanks alot for uploading this :)

  • one of my favourite tracks ever!
