You can order the reels online from Avet Reels I believe. The rod came from the Blackfin Rod company in Stuart. FL. You really don't need a rod as big as the one we use. This particular rod is great because it does not break when it hits the gunnel.

i've noticed your rods are approx 7' long. why not use a shorter rod like 5' to have more leverage on the fish?

Because this particular rod has been unbreakable. All of the other ones break because most people can't keep them off of the gunnel.

@ThunnyFisher Hey Dude, How's the Marlin and Tuna fishing back at home? I know you love your Marlin and Tuna fishing and I know you're used to using 5'6" rods. That's fine because they do most of the fighting wide of the boat. Now i don't confess to being a Grouper expert but you need to pull them out quick as you're so close to strucutre. Also, you're fighting on top of them so the extra length helps clear the gunnel.
