  • I think these are the same ones that we have on the Northumberland Strait. I've gone clamming before and saw them on the sand bars. Either that or they are some other kind of flat fish but they look like the same thing. Nice video!

  • @AquaticNERD777 okay thank you

  • @sharkfishing37 sure, I've caught them off wharves and off the shore if it's a drop off. but my best experience is from wharves, best places are close to fish plants where they feed off the scraps.

  • Thank you. I learned a lot.

Question: Do you cast to where the chum cage is located?

  • @MEXICAN120390 i caught 2 good size flounders of the oceanside pier a couple days ago, i used anchovies and it worked like a charm, within an hour we caught the 2 flounders, one 23 inch and one 18 inch. great fish right there, i recommend if you go to a pier to use anchovies.

  • Flounder fishing in LI NY starts April 1st now, they are know where near as plentiful as they used to be a few years ago; I remember going out to moriches and limiting out on 3 lb fish each day with my brother and grandfather, now a days your considered lucky if you limit out by yourself and its only 2 fish a day now. Just goes to show what happens when people go out and ignore the regs and take all they can.

  • Were did ya fish for dat

  • Wow! Thanks man!

  • can we eat that ??

  • Ooh man, how did you catch so much at one try at the end of the vid?

  • i catch them with my feet then grab them from under my sole

its actually more fun, and i cant fnd 1 youtube vid of anyone doing it, maybe its just the isle of Lewis gere in Scotland that people do it.

  • @ScottieWallace its known as Flounder tramping, and a lot easier than it sounds, people used to spear them underfoot, but grabbing them is better, like your vid though. just google it if youre in disbelief.

  • What a great video, simple, complete and effective! I caught flounder in random occasions off the coast of Lecheria (Anzoategui, Venezuela) many years ago. I didn't know any technique and always wanted to catch more...now you gave me some, thanks! (will have to wait to try though, as I am not in those waters anymore!). Thanks for sharing!

  • awsome video it was very instructional

  • I just got bored so I typed in flounder. :D

  • Also do you use baitcasters, like for bass and halibut?

  • Hi, have you ever used live bait like sardines, and anchovies for flounder and halibut?

  • My very first Flounder I caught was a 15 LB Summer Flounder in Florida. Was about to keep it until the line broke from the stringger...

  • flounders are tasty

  • Looks like a lovely place - I did some deep sea fishing recently and it wa sgreat, but I'll put NS on my list!

    Happy fishing!

  • wow dang i wished i lived near the ocean front but i live near a smelly ass brown river

  • i caught one a pretty good sized one down here in Florida on a shiner i guess it died and went to the bottom

  • You made a great video

  • You are so skilful in setting the bait and the method is always successful for bottom fishing. Hand-lining is also a good way to catch flounder.

  • what was the size limit back then now its 18 in

  • great video, I haven't seen them caught that way before. am more used to spearing flounder in shallow water. but your rig worked perfectly.

  • ever since i moved from texas i cant catch them im so sad these are fun to catch and clean

  • this is pretty cool we have a place where we fish right in our back yard but we can never catch flounder! We catch porgies, crabs, lobster, stripers, black fish, but never flounder! so one day my friend comes over to fish and he knows nothing about it and catches a flounder! He only fished one other time in his life!! ive been fishing for 7 years and never caught one we even go to a jettie and try but nothing!! could u plz help!!

  • wats the difference between flounder fluke and halibut? there all flat

  • huh

  • wow those are alot diffrent then the ones we catch over here on the east coast..."summer flounder" these are alot smaller and have smaller mouths it looks like with no teeth... the ones we catch are alot bigger and they have big mouths with big sharp teeth...just to give u an idea of how big they are... the size limit on keeping them is 19 inches per fish... n wen u catch them, keepers will range some between like 19- 30 inches long

  • what a slab! 5:47

never caught one that big at Pontchartrain, but I think we have a different species down here :)

  • Awesome video

  • i live in massachusetts, and I seem to catch more skates than flounder. any tips to avoid the skates? They just get annoying..

  • @mcneezey skates will take a lot of the same bait since they like the same spots, bottom, depends on what your spot is like, try to get a feel for when the skate are least active while the flounder are most active, not much of a fisherman myself but it something that i used and works, later dood

  • what other bait is good for flounder?

  • Super video! I live in the mountains of NC and I love to get out to the outer banks of NC (north carolina) when I can but it's a 9 hour drive so I only make it once or twice a year. I've caught a few flounder in the surf & they are my favorite as far as eating goes for the surf fish. I really liked that you showed how to dig the clam & was wondering if you would consider doing another video just about finding & digging the clams. More specifically how to spot the holes & places to dig.Super Vid
