Im not surprised that you eventually made the snare line. I AM surprised that you didn't make it after this vid. You seem very tight with your visuals, your tempo and stick heights are consistent, your posture is on point....maybe they wanted for you to take a season to learn their system, marching style, etc. Because you can obviously play.

It was an exercise we played at my high school, my drum instructor there also marched BD but i'm not sure what year. Possibly the same year as your guy. I've heard it in a bunch of different places so it's a pretty popular exercise.

I dunno about the scholarships, that would be something to email the director about. I think his email is somewhere on the sdsu band website. And it's really not that competitive. If you have decent chops and can read music and march fairly well, then you're pretty much in.
