the CO2 bottle are tested to 2000 pounds i used two 50 grain pellets in it and it filled it up the only thing that happened with two was it blew the plug out of the back of the engine made a big bang did nothing to the cartrage, thats 100 grains of black smokeless powder, two days ago i loaded kno2 and sugar and iron oxide in it it worked fine, im not saying this is ok to do im just saying i did it, in the 50's many people did it! Did this a long time ago, rocket got a foot off the ground and exploded, bending a perfect "U" in the quater inch guide rod. Never found a single peice of the cartridge.

the acceleration is mindblasting. more like a shot from a gun and similar to a rpg due to the fast burn rate of the propellant (black powder). i recommend you step wide away when igniting that thing.

1 ft into the ground? No I dont think so. I've have done this though, you can fill a co2 cart with match heads for propellant... works very very well... people have done this since the 60's, it's nothing new. They used to launch them on "zip lines".

I did this a couple months ago. I filled one up with rocket candy and lit it. It burned fine for 3 seconds before the thrust kicked in, ripped it off its mounting, and flew 50 feet going what seemed like 150 mph into the ground. It made one hell of a noise and when we found it, it had made a crater 1 foot into the ground. One of the worst ideas in my life! By the way, can you use steel for regular rockets?

Agreed - I made this mistake as a teenager, and basically created a CO2 cartridge grenade that got very close to sending shrapnel into my vital organs... very bad idea to use these as an engine of any kind.

co2 canisters are very strong because they have to support the big fresure of CO2, but will they support the temperature...?

no, it was a subject in high schoolm where you get a bit of wood and then drill a hole in it with a spade bit then put a c02 canister in it and put it in a special machine

look after finally having great success with pvc motors like nighhawk sais a spike of any kind and boom.I had a pvc spike just because i inserted a small rolled piece of toilet paper to hold in a fuse,it blew and shook the hell out of me,look at one of my vids it shows it blowing up!I was twenty feet away and was hit with tiny pieces of pvc thank god it wasnt metal.

thats suesidle useing metal caseings i use cardbord and a benotnite nozle and that goes 100-200 ft with a few grams of homeade bp (im in uk so i dont get pyrodex or whatever) and your way thats just stupid and im 13

I hope you know that this is a quite dangerous method. You may be able to get away with sugar propellants, but anything such as BP would tear those canisters apart. Even sugar could cause a pressure spike hard enough to blow one of those. Shrapnel is never good.

I tried it, It looks like it might work, but since i didn't have a cap, it blew off, but the first maybe half second it had SOME THRUST, and I only filled it up halfway, I will post vids soon
