  • Azn father: "You could have been better."

  • Nal_rA is the my #1, but there are truly so many greats.

  • 6:42 "Lim Yo-Hwan!" aka SlayerS_BoxeR aka The most influential pro-gamer of all time.

  • Please re-upload this at something higher than 240P!!!!!!!!

  • So, would a high school jock be the American equivalent of a Korean kid in high school playing Starcraft for a team? :O

  • I want to live in korea I want to live in korea :)

  • ahha fucking gooks

  • I think i'll rather just play for fun whenever i feel like it.

  • 500 actions in 1 minute = 1 action every 0,12 of a second. o.o

  • starcraft is the shit

  • Nal_ra ^_^ see you in sc2!

  • I'LL SHOW THEM THE TRUE SPIRIT OF GAMING! uuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • I love that this was on CBC :P

  • Thats a brain dead fuck if ive ever seen one

  • @bagger101 Lol ok, why don't you try to play SC at that level and then let us know if you still think he's brain dead. He was probably just tired/exhausted, or that's merely his personality.

  • @DaveAleksandrov fuck you..........

  • fuck asians and fuck strad. games

  • @DaveAleksandrov fuck you....

  • @DaveAleksandrov fuck you.....

  • Nal Ra is so awesome

I'M GOING TO BE A PROFESSIONAL GAMER

THEN I'M GOING TO HELP DISABLED CHILDREN

THEN I'M GOING TO COMMENTATE LIKE A BOSS

THEN I'M GOING TO BE A PROFESSOR AT A UNIVERSITY

  • Don't fucking make fun of soccer...(football) 10 hours a day of starcraft is nerdy as fuck and yes it does take a lot of intelligence to go that quick but soccer you have to be in incredible condition and think at the same time...

  • @7justin34 No one's saying anything bad about soccer. We're just saying that just because starcraft is a video game doesn't make it any less of a sport as soccer.

  • @NukerStarcraft well it kinda does seeing as sport is defined as physical activity... calling a computer game sport would be the same as calling chess a sport. While both can be done competitively they are two very different things

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay SC is considered an E-Sport

  • @95bigash yes I know... But the true definition of sport is physical activity. I personally don't know why it's called an e-sport because that's just trying to advertise itself as something it isn't. Just call it professional gaming and leave it at that imo

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay I dont consider golf a sport... but that doesnt mean other people doesnt... if you consider swinging an arm with a stick to hit a ball into a hole a sport, i can consider moving my finger to control a virtual army while thinking how am i going to defeat my opponent a sport.

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay Since a sport isn't defined as physical activity....

  • @AEgamesFtw

    Noun:

An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others.

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay Idiot, you just took that off some random online website, it's not an official definition.

  • @AEgamesFtw Alright then.. here's the macquarie dictionary's definition.

Sport: An activity pursued for exercise or pleasure, requiring some degree of physical prowess.

    There you go dingelberry

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay Right.

Playing starcraft 2 is pursued for pleasure and you use fast and accurate physical movements to play.

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay And, that definition is awful anyway, it doesn't even mention COMPETITION, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF SPORT.

  • @AEgamesFtw well sport doesn't necessarily have to be competitive you can have friendly games of football, tennis etc. But hey if you want to believe in that then go ahead... Just as long as you know that you are wrong.

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay A 'freindly' game of football or tennis is still competitive... if it's not being scored, then the rules aren't being used and it's not a sport.

  • @AEgamesFtw ....... Oh, I'm sorry i nearly fainted due to your level of idiocy, look believe what you want, truly cbf arguing over youtube anymore with people who just can't admit they're wrong when they know they are

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay so your counter to my argument is "derpaderpaderpa".

    Moron.

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay Professional gaming is considered a sport because it has practically all the same things that a "normal" sport has: competition, leagues, teams, tournaments, fans, sponsors, TV coverage, commentators, etc. etc. The only difference is that it's not really a physical competition but more a mental one. Hence, they call it E-Sports to distinguish it from "normal" sports. Overall, I think labeling professional gaming as a sport is justified.

  • @topherno tbh though, the only country that has that in full force is South Korea... Anywhere else it is no where near the level as what a sport such as football is. This may one day change and you know I don't mind that because to be good at these games at that sort of level you need a large amount of skill. I would just like it personally to be known solely as gaming and not have the word 'sport' in it in any way, because they are different

  • @SwanniesAllTheWay Not necassarily because SC is played in WCG which includes every country in he world. As you stated before yes south Korea is currently the best and there are no countries that compare with South Koreas skill. However that also goes with football. Is there a football world cup? Sure but there are very few that can compete against U.S. Ultimatley, one can consider gaming a sport because it takes just as much talent and practice as physical sport

  • @boffyrox02 yes one may.. if it weren't for the fact that it wasn't physical

  • @boffyrox02 you mean american football because the US is mediocre at football

  • NERDS

  • I wonder if Koreans watch documentaries about the importance of football in America.

  • NERDS

  • @valerijapl yep.

  • starcraft in south korea is very serious

  • 500 APM nbd.

  • i wonder what blizzard thinks thinks bout all this.

  • @jonathan3979701 They don't think - they profit...

  • @guybrush93 That's true. But not completely .

  • 6 years, 3 years longer than the average football career NOT BAD

  • This looks way bigger than the gsl or mlg for SC2!

  • @drchen054 Cause it is. SC2 fans that did not watch during BW do not even know that this still goes on in BW. That only a portion of the pro gamers from BW moved to SC2. Do you know who flash is? No, Flash is a player who made the equivalents of MC, Nestea, July, Bomber, MVP, MAA afraid. For every pro in SC2, there is at least 1 in BW. The prize pool for BW, even though it's mainly in S. Korea, is still larger in a year cycle then SC2 which has multiple tournaments across multiple countries.

  • @detaono cool good to know thx. I know who flash is. He was arguably the best terran in bw.

  • this is too exaggerated. how is kang min one of the most famous ppl in korea? its not like every age group watches starcraft its mostly only young people

  • @jaameessss He isn't one of the most famous for certain, but Starcraft players are well known regardless of age group. I'm certain that if you asked 100 people of varying ages and monetary income, at least half would know who flash is and say why he's famous. Which is more then can be said for lots of stars. One thing your also forgetting is korea is very idol based. Unlike america and european countries, people are famous that do stuff that nobody would really notice in other palces.

  • someone get the cunt a new monitor

  • Too small money for me to even considering to think of a chance to get into this. :)

  • @TheAbyrvalg666 You must get this :))

  • Compuer Nerds are their Sex Symbols?

Why am I still living in Europe?

  • @DarkysLPs I'm not going to lie, watching that clip of the pro gamers, made me want to have sex with them.

  • Guess im moving to Korea

  • hahahahahahaha wtffffff!???? its a fucking video game looool!!!

  • Fotball is boring and stone-age like. E-sports all the way! Brain over Balls ;D haha.. get it? xD

  • is that Nal_Ra?

  • "i make more money than most other gamers... i make a lot of money"

  • wow the last line just suprised me. "retired progamers are being recruited by large companies and are being trained to be stockbrokers". Thats pretty intense there.

  • Has the e-sports craze in Korea died down since then?

  • @stewiegriffn nope, only gotten bigger and is growing world wide due to starcraft2

  • video games anywhere else in the world = nerd stuff

video games in Korea = serious business, has fan clubs, attraction to chicks

  • @xXxJokerManxXx lol ikr

  • can some1 tell me WHY korean people are so good at these games?

  • @maartenkorving insane education and pride lolol

  • @maartenkorving basically i heard that due to the recession back in the days, sc1 was like a cheap form of entertainment, so loadsa Koreans got into it and one thing led to another and yo ahve this massive and very lucrative business

  • @maartenkorving

Cultural differences. In America, the idea of sitting down and practicing and honing your skills at a video game for 12 hours a day seems absolutely ridiculous. However, in Korea, it's what is necessary to become a top player. Professional Football players have to train and practice constantly to stay the best of the best. The biggest difference between Korea and America in this regard is the game played. America chose football, Korea chose StarCraft.

  • @maartenkorving Cause they have been playing them since the Age of 2...

  • Whats the difference of a RTS game and soccer or any other "physical" game? besides the intelligence difference required to play each.

You might say 10 hours playing a day might be somewhat abusive, but how many kids waste their lives kicking balls into a goal, at least these players have the intelectual knowledge to succeed in life after their progaming career ends.

@LightBrand Did your grandparents thought about you being on youtube writing that comment when they were your age? Though so..

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 I agree :D

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 "least these players have the intelectual knowledge to succeed in life after their progaming career ends." .... no they don`t :)

  • @ahandzhiev "Retired gamers are being recruited by financial institutions to be trained as stock brokers"

    Did you even watch this?

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 Their physical attributes are nowhere near that of physical sports players.

If you're wondering; I'm defending normal people who let people play what they want, not some shitty rivalry between 'sports fans' and 'video games fans' or whatever bullshit. You spend your life perfecting the art of curving a ball, or you spend it pressing 3, E. So long as you have fun and earn enough to live, do whatever the fuck you want.

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 yeah except just like in soccer most of them go no where

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 and also soccer is good for you, but sitting in front of a computer for hours a day will kill you

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 If you really can't tell the difference between soccer and a computer game then you sir, are stupid. Soccer atleast gives you exercise, sitting down at computer doesn't. I'm not dissing starcraft because it's my favourite game, but you're just stupid.

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 how does playing starcraft reward you with any intelligence needed for a career outside of gaming...?

  • @ahetalpkeusoulite123 if anything the game would block up 6 years of education making you a lot less educated than you could be. i doubt they can play 10 hours a day and still read before they go to bed. playing an outside sport clears your mind like meditation.

  • and i highly doubt they spent 50 million on there starcraft team lol!

  • lol sayin starcraft was the newest in 2007 :p

  • "the best selling & most popular PC Game of all time"

    more like 4th

WoW beats it and so does the Sims 1 & 2

  • @urantivirus

Too bad WoW and the Sims are fucking stupid.

Also, you dont know when this new story aired. It may have been accurate at the time.

  • @urantivirus I think they meant competitive games. Nobody is going around saying IM THE BEST THE SIMS PLAYER EVER! :P

  • 5:58 BUM TAP

  • Sponsors! Team colors! Fan clubs! Money! It's just like real sports! Now we wait until it gets big in the west.

  • 500 apm?! WTF? :o Woah.

  • koreans are the masters of all gaming. If you meet one online, flee or destroy your computer

  • lol at the stockbroker comment at the end.

  • wtf proleague spoilers

  • Guys why are two very well educated investors watching a video about starcraft then?

Just shut up and watch the damn video cuz ur both retarded-_-

    Btw boxer ftw!!!

  • "16 - 24"

    Yeah, that didn't stop WhiteRa.

  • @Pinoylegend707

haha, i agree, others too infact :P

  • @Pinoylegend707

This is Brood War. WhiteRa can own in Starcraft 2 because Micro is non existent in SC2. White Ra would get wrecked by Jaedong/Flash/Stork/Bisu in BW.

  • @Kallosar Actually there still is a lot of micro in sc2, it's just that sc1 is a lot more micro-intensive, especially with workers.

  • @Pinoylegend707 i miss the ultra micro battles between zealots and zerglings

  • @Pinoylegend707 The thing about sc bw, is that the latency and the AI forced more micro to make sure the units did what you wanted to. In SC2 WoL, the AI is good enough to require less apm, while completing the tasks instructed by the players.

  • @Zergrushing Yeah that's right.

  • @Pinoylegend707 No the micro in sc1 was battling the god damn pathing and AI. Those fucking dragoons man...

  • @tykd LOL yeah that too. Units blocking each other killing themselves in the process lololol I find that annoying but if I look back to it I find it funny as hell.

  • @Kallosar Well, its quite an exaggeration to say that micro in sc2 is non-existent, to say the least. But true statement, SC2 is a lot more about mindgames and strategy, and that's why WhiteRa-kind of guys can fare well in it. Tbh, I like SC2 way a lot better, since it's a lot less about being a human machine and a lot more about playing creative.

  • @saloneju

Well you can't muta micro in SC2 the mechanics prevent it, and all the units bunch up together in clumps so its always one big army vs another big army....never about small individual engagements. No Lurkers, No Defiler Swarms, No Scourge micro, and u can max out super fast compared to BW. Technically its more noob friendly but allowing everything to be done in a click of a button or press of a key. Just my opinion. Like playing real BBall compared to Arcade BBall

  • @Kallosar

    L2magic box?

  • Comment removed

  • @Kallosar How exactly does the game mechanics prevent you from microing mutalisks lol So playing BW is like playing basketball and playing SC2 is like playing a video game version of a basketball game, quite the metaphor.

  • @spurrell

Try taking out a marine force of about 30 Marines and 2 Medics with 11 Mutas and 1 Larva on BW. Very possible and easy if u micro right.....now try the same on Starcraft 2. Near Impossible.

  • @Kallosar fair enough

  • FYI it is fun game and i'm korean but know this not all Koreans are good at Starcraft or only game that we play is Starcraft. How do i know that? i'm korean and i suck at Starcraft. I literally Starcraft. and don't say shit about pro gamers. They win at life. They earn money while doing something fun for their lives and killing lots of SPERMS..

  • starcraft 2=super addictive drug in korea

  • FUCK YEAH, NAL_RA

  • whats the name of this documentary ?

  • do you have the other parts of this documentary? i watched it on cbc when it first aired but iirc this was a 40min-1 hr doc, not just 7 min.

  • starcraft aint the best selling and most popular game on pc

  • @K4inan it is.

  • @K4inan

    and u my sir....are officially a dumbass

  • @TheManGuyDude why dont you try opening garena??

just because the country is poor that they cannot held competitions and leagues

and yeh ofcourse china .. god theres like biilions of people in there!!

  • Well, I wont blame/laugh at these "pro gamers" for what they do. Big companies are only sponsoring them and providing their meal ticket because they are indeed marketable.

Meaning there are idiots out there who would watch this shit.

If nobody in Korea gives a fuck if you are good at StarCraft. Pro gamer would be a joke there, there wouldn't even be a thing called "pro gamer" you'd just be at home playing game.

And make no mistake, these nerds aren't the nerds who score high in school.

  • @LightBrand well, the same can be said to ANY professional sport right? If nobody gives a fuck for watching football/basketball/baseball/etc, then these "professional players" wouldn't be making their 7 figure salary every year and they would be a joke. They would be just some high school drop outs playing the sport they love for longs hour for nothing.

  • @LightBrand same for pro football, basketball, and every other proffessionally played sport, so fuck off asshole, and stop judging other ppl's likes

  • @Yavin1v And that is why our society is going down hill with this generation.

Imagine your parent's childhood, and your grandparents, within their generation they went from playing with rocks into television, computer and Internet. Do you realize how big of a jump they've made during their lifetime?

Do you imagine YOUR kids' childhood to be any different from yours? I doubt it, he'll be playing video game the same way you are now. This generation is going flat when playing VG gets a job.

  • @LightBrand you have completely ignored what i said, its a sport, sports have existed for ages and that hasnt hampered progress, you are generalising....

  • @Yavin1v Ages NBA dated back to merely the 40s. That's when I "generalize" where you can actually get paid to do what's meant to be a "hobby".

Hey, maybe we can turn jump rope into a paying career as well, how about doing push-ups? Why not getting paid to make youtube video oh wait you can already do that.

I'm telling you man, I don't hate what they do, I hate the fact that our generation allows what they do to even exist. I don't hate Kesha, I hate "us" for liking her to make her famous.

  • @LightBrand If people are willing to pay money to watch you jump rope or do push ups, then why can't that be a professional sport?

  • @LightBrand Wait, wait, wait. Did you just reduce sports to NBA??? Then deduced that sports started in the 40's?????? What history did you read, boy?

Secondly, you need to broaden your view, you accept socially-respected jobs because of conformation, not because they have more meaning or anything, i.e. you're being a tool. Researchers are basically shit-tier, yet without them glamorous doctors would not do shit. Want something to hate try the military, cosmetics, fashion-designers, furniture,..

  • @LightBrand People get paid for doing push ups. Skipping is a form of exercise very predominately used to tone muscle for muscular models.

Sports will forever change. At one point people danced the Morris, it's a lot less popular now. Football (as in FOOT-ball, not I-pick-this-up-with-my-hands ball) is nearing a very dangerous point in its life-cycle. It has become money orientated, and people are staring to stray away from big-money clubs.

Both physical and e-sports can exist at the same time

  • This is a Canadian news report from CBC, if anyone was wondering. Notice how in Canada, the networks talk about StarCraft without making fun of it, unlike in America.

  • THIS IS A FACT : if korea have starcraft ... philippines have DotA

there are a lots of DotA addicts in here... like 90% of teenagers knows it

  • @jl1455 China is the current powerhouse in dota and that's a fact.

  • @jl1455 video games addiction does not exist, its usually as cocial problem, where ppl seek refuge in those games, bt the games do not cause the problem, you fuckin moron

  • Dude Fucking Asians get a life no wonder why people make fun of asians

  • @runescapetuneman32 says the guy with runespace in his username, you get a life and stop judging others asshole

  • 5:58

does the guy smack the pro-gamers ass ?...

  • How i wish i can play Company of heroes for a living :(

  • video games = srs business

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • I have never regretted what I do, I think my job is the best job, because more than anything else, I get to do what I like.

    :D

THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT THANT FINDING A JOB THAT WILL MAKE YOU RICH! UNLESS YOU ARE A SUPPORTING A FAMILY!!!!!!!!!

  • @Fetcha200

    Rofl.

  • This is nuts.

  • is this shit foreal?

  • @MrJewJake Yes it is

    its even bigger today

  • It's pathetic. where is the point this business? South Korea must be destroyed.

  • @blveeye where is the point in football ?

  • @ps3live47

u mad? or just a fool?

  • @blveeye and you'll get the same reply from south koreans for your question....

  • 2:50

    JulyZerg is a sex symbol.

  • "chess at warpspeed"

-couldnt agree with you more, mrs. narrator

  • how do u join a team?

  • @ginywiny delete all the numbers in your contacts, draw the blinds, shut the door, crack open that mountain dew, and play constantly for the next 8 months and hope your apm gets past 20 :P

  • @Blorguehad i guess i passed :)

  • Rofl. I think becoming famous over this is lame. xD

  • @ToastOfDOOMM Says the person that isn't famous

  • @Sneezlebob You don't know that. ;)

    Haters keep hatin'.

  • @ToastOfDOOMM If you could prove to me you're famous you would've already done it.

  • @ToastOfDOOMM all i see is you doing the hating, you think its lame to become famous over this? i dont give a fuck what you think

  • @ToastOfDOOMM And being famous for a physical sport isn't? Hahaha you're a smart one aren't you?

The only difference between Esports - such as starcraft - and physical sports is the physical part. But still, requires skill to become famous.

  • @Pinoylegend707 Quit trying to sound smart, seriously it's stupid.

Now I know you're going to reply back trying to keep an argument going.

I can say my opinion on ANYTHING. I don't care if anyone disagrees.

You're just another useless human I don't listen to.

  • @ToastOfDOOMM Okay then, If its your opinion, then I have no right to judge it. But I suggest you state your negative opinions elsewhere, because if you say you don't care if anyone disagrees, then why post? Right?

Also, I'm not TRYING to sound smart, because this is always how I make or fight an argument.

  • @ToastOfDOOMM "You're just another useless human I don't listen to." like you said, these words can be directed at you as well...

  • @jaskknd Why do you people keep replying to my comment? That's just childish to keep a useless conversation going.

I hope this will get through your thick skull, and not reply again after this. These type of comments on these videos are off topic and should be flagged as spam.

  • @ToastOfDOOMM why did i keep replying??? i believe this is the 1st time i ever replied on your comment.

i'm just another you-tuber who disagree on your perspective. flag it as a spam if you want, but whether you like it or not, you should know at the very 1st place you will get replies on your comments when you 1st posted it up.

  • LOL at the end... become stock brokers? wtf??

  • @cmonutube don't underestimate what you can learn from it... ;)

  • now... thats a real sport
