thanks for sharing that...great memories of the parade. I was a Togher majorette in those days. we were also in green and white, similar to Mayfield Majorettes. If I'm not mistaken the girls from Knocknaheeny were probably the best around at the time. We used to march on the the day with the Togher Tambourettes and of course, the Togher Pipe band kept us all in rhythm.. happy days.... freezin' knees!
Brilliant piece of film! Great reminder of the shops we used to have on Patrick Street too :-) From the depths of my memory, I think the girls in navy and white at the very start were the Glen troupe, but I can't be sure. There were LOADS of troupes in Cork, and every year there were more of them in the Patrick's Day parade.
@Chatelaine5 I think you'll find the troupe at the start were the Mayfield Majorettes and the troupe in identical dress but in red & white were the Knocknaheeny Majorettes. This is awesome to watch
