We generally do not post coords, to prevent looting of the sites, however this one is pretty well known, and listed on various trail maps of Mt.Tam, Marin county.
Yep, I found it, but it took three tries and a case of poison oak. The site is poorly shown on the trail maps I found, perhaps deliberately? I finally found a description to the site that was clear enough. In the end, the trail to the site, which I dismissed early on because it seemed too obvious, was the one. You can even see the crater pretty clearly on Google Earth, now that I know where it is.
Nothing like a memorial hike and the sounds of searching through the aluminum in search of a relic at the same time. Classy.

Yes, there is a lot of poison ivy around there, and no we did not plant it,
