It can be cheesy as hell. It can sound shit to everyone. This music genre still has a place in my heart because it's so additctive and from my time :)
Good times when I was 17. Reminds me of a trip to London with my family, hearing this on the radio everywhere we went. This and Kate Bush Running Up That Hill.
The guy in this video was just a pretty front man. It's not his voice on this record, he's just lip syncing. Yes, he was gay and irish, and now dead from AIDS.
As far as I'm aware, this guy was a Northern Irish homosexual. Deary me, growing up must've been difficult for this poor guy. Lol! I remember this song. I was 19 at the time.
Ahh, the 80's! Thatcher destroyed a generation, vinyl, no mobile phones. Those days we actually got off our arses and walked to a friends house for a cuppa and a chat or to play records. TOTP on a Thursday, the top 40 on a Sunday evening. So we (well I) had no money but I'd readily swap it back for the shit life chucks at us nowadays. Thank heaven for you tube though, I can get the odd fix of 80's nostalgia!
I like some 80's music but why would anyone want to live in that decade?! I was born in 1985 and hate the fact that I was born in the 80's! I wish I was a teenager now with all the iPhones and iPods. I can't live without them and what was so popular then? CD's lol I mean we don't even use them anymore lol! The 80's for me was about AIDS, crappy TV shows, bad hair, bad fashion, violence, racism, Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan!!!!!
The 80's for me was a time of hardly surviving from day to day,i was young...but my dear mum struggled to bring us up,hated school lol but songs like this and TOTP on a Thursday made you escape a little...
... from an era when Euro-pop followed you home from the sunny "Costa's" and was in the charts for you to re-live your summer romance once you returned to school .....
High energy music was definitely in the mainstream in the mid to late 80's and this was one of the European Summer hits that became big hits in the UK alongside Trans X 'Living on Video' and Opus 'Live Is Life' from 1985.
Will everyone stop hating on the gay guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! so annoying and prejudiced if he were black and someone said something about his skin that wouldnt be tolerated so why do it for the gay ppl? sick, really really sick!!!!!
in 1985 at the age 0f 22, went to the palace lido night club in Douglas, Isle of Man, it was the biggest night club in europe....... it was Awsome...and this was playing as i walked into this Gigantic open plan Disco...... not to big a fan of the song but brings back a Fantastic memory
When I hear these songs, I long back to the eighties where everything was so simple and we could get excited about small things and dance on music like this one. We would have girlfriends we met at the disco we had been to and fall in love when dancing with them on these songs. Those days are long gone they will never come back but they will linger in our memory as long as we live. Its songs like this one that made the eighties the eighties and such a unique atmosphere never seen in any decade
Yes you are right but its also about being young, optimistic, idealistic & not having become jaded or disillusioned by later lifes responsibilities & disappointments ; i did it in the late '70s as well as up to mid '80s & both were as fun
@vitalalive69 Im 19 years old, i have loved 80s my whole entire life and I would do anythign to have lived in that era. Everything was so different, i look at my generation today and just feel dissapiontment. Thats why i listen to 80s songs, they lighten my mood ALWAYS and they make me feel that theres more to life, i know it sounds sad because there just songs, but it makes me realise that before this era, things were good and how they should be.
@carrotsNcrispies we had our own problems back in those days but we had our advantages as well as in any era. You should not long for living in the past but try to do your best in the era you live in. Look forward my dear friend but learn from the past.
@vitalalive69 Well there has been massive riots in the uk this week, and i bought an hawain shirt last week. So i think we may be back on our way to the 80s (fingers crossed). All we need to do is assasinate simon cowel and lady gaga.
The kids nowadays are just listening to all that shitty-ass (c)rap, just so they think that they could 'fit in' with the rest of the idiots and morons at school.
They have NO originality or style whatsoever, and that is why this country is so broken and fucked up.
No wonder Tower Records went outta business hella quick!
Hey, be sure to check out the music videos on my channel!
exactly, you can tell by the voice that it is an Itallian doing the vocals. The accent on some of the words gives it away, and in some of the other Baltimora songs, its more evident there as well.
Still, Jimmy will always be the face of Baltimora forever. Great song and just a classic italo song!
Jim McShane was the lead singer of Baltimora he is also my cousin and he is from IRELAND so that means he is IRISH not italian! and Jim also passed away several years ago. R.I.P Cousin Jim !

JOHNSderry 1 month ago
This is a really good song but Jimmy McShane didn't provide the vocals; the voice is actually an Italian, Maurizio Bassi. Listen carefully:
'You won't miss home' is pronounced 'You wont meese horme'
'Like Tarzan's boy' - the "n's" is foreign, as is the 'oi' dipthong in 'boy'
'Won't be sorry' actually sounds like 'One story'

It's well documented that the guy was literally only a front man - the vocals were actually by the song's Italian producer.

@83Brokenwings
cause if you're black,you can't help it... it's something natural ...
if you're gay and like to dance around in pink tutu's and putting something where it doesn't belong ... it's not natural perhaps ?
+ perhaps it's better to compare to having 6 fingers ?
