  • I know Jimmys brother ,great man

  • This is a really good song but Jimmy McShane didn't provide the vocals; the voice is actually an Italian, Maurizio Bassi. Listen carefully:

'You won't miss home' is pronounced 'You wont meese horme'

'Like Tarzan's boy' - the "n's" is foreign, as is the 'oi' dipthong in 'boy'

'Won't be sorry' actually sounds like 'One story'

  • @skyza7 impossible

  • It's well documented that the guy was literally only a front man - the vocals were actually by the song's Italian producer.

  • It can be cheesy as hell. It can sound shit to everyone. This music genre still has a place in my heart because it's so additctive and from my time :)

  • R.I.P ( Return If Possible )

  • I'm glad McShane was able to stand on top of the world, if even briefly. Rest In Peace.

  • GENIAL ESCENARIO TOP OF THE POS ...... DE LO MEJOR

  • couldnt agree more

  • Aaaah, happy days for me, this now world-weary chap!

  • Gay Twat

  • @LilPrincess9231

    Well done for 'coming out'.

  • I gonna make sure this video will take over the internet, just like Rick Roll

  • very true vitalive69

  • Good times when I was 17. Reminds me of a trip to London with my family, hearing this on the radio everywhere we went. This and Kate Bush Running Up That Hill.

  • The guy in this video was just a pretty front man. It's not his voice on this record, he's just lip syncing. Yes, he was gay and irish, and now dead from AIDS.

  • Beautiful Song .... Beautiful Video ...... Nice !

  • He looks like and is even as lanky as, Peter Crouch! Great song, I love it, catchy and dancey and fun! todays songs suck!

  • As far as I'm aware, this guy was a Northern Irish homosexual. Deary me, growing up must've been difficult for this poor guy. Lol! I remember this song. I was 19 at the time.

  • Ahh, the 80's! Thatcher destroyed a generation, vinyl, no mobile phones. Those days we actually got off our arses and walked to a friends house for a cuppa and a chat or to play records. TOTP on a Thursday, the top 40 on a Sunday evening. So we (well I) had no money but I'd readily swap it back for the shit life chucks at us nowadays. Thank heaven for you tube though, I can get the odd fix of 80's nostalgia!

  • I like some 80's music but why would anyone want to live in that decade?! I was born in 1985 and hate the fact that I was born in the 80's! I wish I was a teenager now with all the iPhones and iPods. I can't live without them and what was so popular then? CD's lol I mean we don't even use them anymore lol! The 80's for me was about AIDS, crappy TV shows, bad hair, bad fashion, violence, racism, Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan!!!!!

  • remebered this song. christmas presentation Gr V everlasting at SMAD.our dance teacher Joy Malaga in 1985:) nice...

  • i remember doing the intro to this all the time lol and always singing jam on light as it begins

i agree with vita and that ainta knife crocodile dundee =)))

  • omfg i remember doing the intro to this all the time lol and always singing jam on light as it begans

    ohhhhhhhhhhh

i agree with vita and that ainta knife crocodile dundee =)))

  • The 80's for me was a time of hardly surviving from day to day,i was young...but my dear mum struggled to bring us up,hated school lol but songs like this and TOTP on a Thursday made you escape a little...

  • ... from an era when Euro-pop followed you home from the sunny "Costa's" and was in the charts for you to re-live your summer romance once you returned to school .....

  • Baltimora Name is Maurizio Bassi 23.May 1957 Italie

  • oo i love it!!! the old stuff reeally is the best!!! this coming from a 21 year old

    xx

  • High energy music was definitely in the mainstream in the mid to late 80's and this was one of the European Summer hits that became big hits in the UK alongside Trans X 'Living on Video' and Opus 'Live Is Life' from 1985.

  • wish they played this in the 80s clubs more

  • good days

  • the best gay tune ever xxxxxxxxx

  • He's a doll..........

  • I'm so glad I got to experience eighties music first hand, nearly every song has some memory or experience that goes with it.

  • Baltimora - Tarzan Boy - Top of the Pops - 6th September 1985

  • Jimmy Mcshane wasnt actually singing this song it was another band member,he lip synced to this song.

  • @Dawn1959 actually, I've heard Jimmy did do backing vocals for the songs.

  • Teenage mutant Heroes movie, the one where they go to samurai time Japan!

  • I love this song, i remember when i was a kid i crying when i heard it :' ) R.I.P

  • He looks so much like Peter Crouch..he's really cute shame he's gone I miss this kinda music!!

  • I love this song so so much.

And I love the singer and his sexy 80's dance moves. :p

    Thanks !!

  • Will everyone stop hating on the gay guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! so annoying and prejudiced if he were black and someone said something about his skin that wouldnt be tolerated so why do it for the gay ppl? sick, really really sick!!!!!

  • @83Brokenwings

    cause if you're black,you can't help it... it's something natural ...

if you're gay and like to dance around in pink tutu's and putting something where it doesn't belong ... it's not natural perhaps ?

+ perhaps it's better to compare to having 6 fingers ?

  • @murderincbe And who's to say what is natural?

  • you sickee

  • Is Tarzan Boy a euphemism for Dirty Rent Boy? This dude had more pricks than a junkie's arm. :-P

  • Classic 80s pop, love it, I just we were back in 1985!

  • They used to play this before matches at Old Trafford when we went on a 10 game winning streak at the start of the season...

  • January 1st 1986 :

    Gibson

    BIRMINGHAM 0

    March 29th 1986 :

    BIRMINGHAM 1

    Handysides

  • @AdmiralBirdseye I was at both of these games : )

  • in 1985 at the age 0f 22, went to the palace lido night club in Douglas, Isle of Man, it was the biggest night club in europe....... it was Awsome...and this was playing as i walked into this Gigantic open plan Disco...... not to big a fan of the song but brings back a Fantastic memory

  • Yay for sodomy!

  • what a tune! love it!

  • When I hear these songs, I long back to the eighties where everything was so simple and we could get excited about small things and dance on music like this one. We would have girlfriends we met at the disco we had been to and fall in love when dancing with them on these songs. Those days are long gone they will never come back but they will linger in our memory as long as we live. Its songs like this one that made the eighties the eighties and such a unique atmosphere never seen in any decade

  • Yes you are right but its also about being young, optimistic, idealistic & not having become jaded or disillusioned by later lifes responsibilities & disappointments ; i did it in the late '70s as well as up to mid '80s & both were as fun

  • @vitalalive69 Im 19 years old, i have loved 80s my whole entire life and I would do anythign to have lived in that era. Everything was so different, i look at my generation today and just feel dissapiontment. Thats why i listen to 80s songs, they lighten my mood ALWAYS and they make me feel that theres more to life, i know it sounds sad because there just songs, but it makes me realise that before this era, things were good and how they should be.

  • @carrotsNcrispies we had our own problems back in those days but we had our advantages as well as in any era. You should not long for living in the past but try to do your best in the era you live in. Look forward my dear friend but learn from the past.

  • @carrotsNcrispies

Finally, someone from this era who speaks up and is actually alive and breathing!

  • @vitalalive69 Well there has been massive riots in the uk this week, and i bought an hawain shirt last week. So i think we may be back on our way to the 80s (fingers crossed). All we need to do is assasinate simon cowel and lady gaga.

  • @vitalalive69 yep

  • baltimora tarzan doy

  • baltimora

  • This songs kicks ass. To bad its not his voice in this song. lol.

  • Great song, nice video...thanks! You deserved your fame and glory in 1985.

    R.I.P....

  • thy were the days that the music worse good then not like it is now crap

  • Comment removed

  • this is better than 90% of the crap we hve to listen to these days m8

  • @thataintaknife mainstream/radio shit these days... well, is exactly that, SHIT

  • @thataintaknife

    Tell me why? : P

    Dude, I'll tell ya WHY...

Because the selection of music in America SUCKS!

The kids nowadays are just listening to all that shitty-ass (c)rap, just so they think that they could 'fit in' with the rest of the idiots and morons at school.

They have NO originality or style whatsoever, and that is why this country is so broken and fucked up.

No wonder Tower Records went outta business hella quick!

Hey, be sure to check out the music videos on my channel!

  • @thataintaknife you're damn right!!!

  • exactly, you can tell by the voice that it is an Itallian doing the vocals. The accent on some of the words gives it away, and in some of the other Baltimora songs, its more evident there as well.

Still, Jimmy will always be the face of Baltimora forever. Great song and just a classic italo song!

  • wow reminds me of spain with all the lads on the piss

  • Reminds me of being at the fair on the dodgems!

  • Spot on - this is the national anthem of dodgems!

  • Jim McShane was the lead singer of Baltimora he is also my cousin and he is from IRELAND so that means he is IRISH not italian! and Jim also passed away several years ago. R.I.P Cousin Jim !

  • one of the best songs ever though!

  • wasn't the real singer an italian? jimmy just mimed didn't he for stage and videos.

just to put a "face" to the music so that it could get out there.

  • Is correct. McShane was just the "eyecandy". Whether he could sing or not in his own right I guess nobody knows.

  • Oha oha Ohaa oh ohaaaaaaaa!

  • ohhohhhohhh oh oh ohhohohohohh oh oh!!!!

  • I love how this song'll get in your head and how TOTP2 always has those facts. Reminds me of those summers you can sleep away too...

  • the good old days...

  • Reminds me of the roller disco I used to go to on Saturday afternoons in 1985!

  • One (s)hit wonder indeed!

  • *PML* This is hysterical, can't stop laughing- where on EARTH did you find this!!!! Love the cheesy mystical background keyboard-y thing going on too!!!

  • He dances like Shane Ritchie...

  • but looks like hugh laurie!

  • chozie thats a real terrible thing to even throw a guess at...i loved this song.I do belive the guy from tight fit died suddenly of a brain disorder...and yes jimmy shand aka tarzan boy was a victim of aids.I know what you mean though chozie, seemed like wildfire in the 80s i suppose..aids.

  • aids? just a guess...........so did jermaine stewart, steve grant (tight fit)

  • See if you can guess what he died of. Yep.

  • great song remember shagging to this in spain on the beach,me and my right hand ,sadly i didnt cop off , damm 1985

  • rest in peace.didnt know he was dead

  • And it's no wonder why they call it a "One Hit Wonder".

  • reminds me when the radio 1 roadshow came to westward ho in devon for some reason. it must have been around that time. shame he's dead. died in 95.

  • F*cking terrible. The epitome of naff Europop. I love it!

  • crap record but i love it cos it reminds me of my first hol abroad, Callella, May 85!

  • Benidorm 86

  • Great Song ,Sadly this guy passed away few years back

  • yea he was great a artist

  • Reminds me of being at the fair on the dodgems!
