Found this while searching for "Pony Boy" lyrics. Great rendition although version is slightly different than I remember. My grandfather used to sing this to me while bouncing on his knee -- and I'm 64. What I remember the most was that he would straighten his leg so I would slide down it whenever he came to the word "whoa". I've continued the tradition with my grandson and he loves it.

@asphaltenoire I'm really sorry, I would give you the tabs, but I don't have any, I never use them but try to figure out how to do it myself, which fairly often doesn't work. In this case I can terll you that Bruce plays it in E, as far as I remember.

So you should start with Capo on 4th fret and play C, F and G, which with capo are, of course, E, A and B. Hope that helps. PS: The arpeggi are very similar to many of those on Nebraska

Outstanding man! Listen to this! I am a huge Bob Dylan fan. I also love Steve Earle. In a Steve Earle DVD doc that comes with the Washinton Square Serenade album he mentions that Dylan got his song Oxford Town from Pony Boy. I You Tubed Pony Boy and your version is the first version of Pony Boy that came up. LOVE IT! On a side note, go to CMH Records and look up the Lullaby CD, it's rock songs done lullaby style! Lovely rendition of this song - not a Springsteen fan, but I always used to rewind my boyfriend's tape to hear this one again (talk about dating the song, eh? "Mommy, wassa tape?" my five-year old asks (but she tosses CDs and DVDs around nonchalantly into their various drives...)
