I am currently in Michigan state right now and is Attending to Ferris, I am trying to set up ASL Club so I can get the exposure, I am deaf, wears CI and I still sign and speak and without the CI I am still deaf, what the differences are there to cut down the ASL in Universities? I would meet with them one day to approached to them and tell them what it is like to be Deaf never less if they think hearing aids or CI will cure and don't need ASL, they are wrong.
I am wondering MSU's officials stated "ASL is not a language and CI cured it all" which led them to shut down ASL programs. Is that what other politicians thinks the same way like MSU's and closed the Deaf Institutions in the US??? As their lamest excuses to gain extra money from the State Budget???
I am totally disgusted what Michigan State University's "Above the laws" people chose to follow the doctors, researchers and psychologists for their "Bullshit" advises like CI CURED it all!, No need Sign Language. . Left Deaf community as lifeless future. My father was MSU Alumni. I wish I could attend Lansing, MI and confront them and ask "Who TAUGHT you this way? and Who GAVE some answers?" which led them to cut the ASL and Deaf culture programs. Cheers.
Similar to what I have been commenting under your FB posting, Native American languages are not popular as well. We don't see them offered in all over US, like ASL is, they are more oppressed than we are. What makes the powers above decide that ASL was not a language and WHY?
A friend of mind sent me a link in which UMBC explained that ASL was not considered as a foreign language. I tried posting the link here on this youtube but it won't go through. My question is... what DEFINES foreign language and native language?

What do you mean? Why do we have to form an ASL organization when other languages don't? We have the state assoc. for the deaf and NAD. ASL is a genuine language and needs to be respected, and our organizations need to take a strong stand.
@deafpundit what asl organization? because we got "bilingual education act" which i haven't inquire about it... so we need credibility from ASL organization that complying with 26USC4911(d)(2)(A) stated: "For purposes of 501(c)(3), the term ``influencing legislation'', with respect to an organization, does not include making available the results of NONPARTISAN analysis, study, or research;
that because deaf community haven't formed ASL organization, yet... until then then it become legal... so there is no legal ground on ASL based on my finding so far...
@podsaich other than meaning of "disability" of "deaf," i found two grounds for our need, but one more is ASL organizations... I am not worry, once form, then huge impact on goverment level... so, get busy...

@podsaich I'm busy with school, plus I'm a MDA board member. Then I will be interning at a national organization this summer.
I have worked my tail off for the Deaf Community... So don't tell me to get busy.
