  • its so Cute, Its like my coco when it was like a month old, I find it funny how im the only one with coco, -_-

  • How exactly do you clean the poop with the carefresh bedding? Do you just get a pooper scooper and scoop up what you see? I am thinking about trying this for my macaw.

  • Hello! Do you sell those playstands?? It looks perfect for my quaker. I bought her two already and she doesn't seem to like being on them....Anyway, I would buy one if you are selling them. Thanks!

  • @Bean8109 they prefer being on your shoulder right? That is normal...... Make your own but have it were your Quaker can see you..... There are plenty of places that show you how to make that stuff easily.... I use alot of that mesh stuff in my birds cages as ramps, etc..... but i use leaf-proofing stuff for gutters...... you can buy it pretty cheaply at most hardware type places......

  • wow thats a good idea....

  • let me know when she talks

  • Hi, she's over a year old now. She hasn't really talked - although she whispers the whole time I'm talking, especially if she's on my shoulder.

The one thing she does do, is the 'wolf whistle' when she wants whatever I'm eating. And then when I put her in her cage and she still wants my attention, she really gives a 'hey you, where ya goin?' whistle. It's really cute.

  • Hi there oh yeah... is that true that female dont talk much...i'm getting my new baby in about two months waiting til their ready...i'm really excited bout that...in case if i got a female quaker just wanna know if they'l ever talk..

    cheers

  • Actually I don't think it matters male or female. The other one I have, was thought to be a male, so I named him Charlie. He's actually a female - but Charlie still works. My point, Charlie says all kinds of things - gimme kiss, good boy, step up, no bite - I don't like that,, don't cry Raffle --- these were all from the elderly lady that had to give him up. I'm trying to get the talking on film and then upload it

  • @cindy600 IT'S NOT NOT NOT TRUE AT ALL!!! If you do your research you will see! My female Quaker is 9 months old and says 50 plus words and is constructing sentences and jokes! The best way to teach them to start to talk is by playing "Peek-A-Boo" with them in their Happy Hut..... BTW you MUST have a happy hut for them...... they need to nest when they sleep to feel protected. Good luck!

  • @dinksta Hi there thanks yeah wow it has been a year since i got abby. wow. shes doing great and talking up to storm and sleep in her little hut/nest and growing everyday....

  • She is so sweet, and just a BABY! Thank you for sharing!

  • You could also make a large pouch on your shirt and carry her along everywhere. not sure if that would be safe though.

  • I don't know if they like it, but my quaker parrot used to LOVE being put inside my pants pockets (they were very loose and big) when I went out. He would try to get himself but we'd end upside down, so I had to help him. Parrots are freaking awesome.

  • Keiko definately has a sweet gym! My sweet blue quaker Charlie flew away November last year (my house-mate's nephew accidently let him out). I miss the cuddles so much... You are so lucky to have Keiko.

Love the name too, what made you think of Keiko as a name?

  • Thanks, but sorry to hear about your quaker flying away. You should really get another one - they are the best little parrot I've ever owned.

I always look up names and their meanings on the computer. I loved the way Keiko sounded (I pronounce it Kay-Ko) and when I saw the meaning - it was settled. It means Blessing.

  • Charlie chose me, he had a former owner who couldn't keep him. Sadly he also chose to leave, he didn't have to fly away, but I guess he was so excited to be flying outside, that, when he turned to come home, he didn't know where 'home' was.

Quakers are rare here, especially the blue quakers. If I ever find another, I'll morgage my house for it! They are the most special birds... Treasure yours!

  • did you make it, or buy it?? it's awesome!

  • Hi, and thanks. Hubby had the pvc pipe around and made it. He's great at things like that.

Read my description - click on the 'more info' and it will tell you all about it.

If ya make one---post a vid. Would love to see another one.

  • oh thats cool i need to make one for my birds, cus they love to play around

  • You really should. Just get those plastic containers and use your imagination. Also, those 'zip ties' are really cool. Always find uses for those. Good luck and post a vid when you make one.
