a documentary that reflects the often harsh life of Chinese migrants and Chinese factory workers, punctuated with few choices for survival. I hate the fact that Chinese parents put so much pressure on their kids to help the family prosper like but the same sayings "Get good grades in school" and "Study hard" have been repeated for centuries as a way out of poverty. Unfortunately, the kids are their ticket out. And when that doesn't work out, the entire family despairs.
I am a Chinese grown up in China, there are so many extremely poor people around the countryside, they come to the city work 12 hours a day, get the lowest pay just sufficient to buy food, some of them just don't have enough money to by a train ticket to go home once a year. but the government just ignore them , still pour trillions money to some gala ceremony like Olympics games, what a shame.
i have seen this film it is incredible! i have never seen anything like it before...us westeners really do live a sweet life...while these guys slave away in factories we work easy hours, party every w.e and still complain about our little problems... you should see this film! and recommend all your friends to see it too!
And Americans complain about not having new shoes and stuff. Where i come from people value what they have not what they want. where i'm from will make Americas projects, ghettos, and other shitty ass places here look good. Did your mother ever have to look you in the eye and say we won't be able to eat tonight? my mom did and i watched her break down because she felt so ashamed she couldn't provide for us.....But were over it we are semi rich now living on the beach because of hope.

@dbassplayer i would say its more of a result of modernism where as opportunities in the countryside diminishes, more and more people migrate to the city to look for opportunities and the slums continue to grow
i'm latin and i can't find a version with spanish subtitles, but i REALLY want to see it so i'll watch it however.

great doc! would love to see a follow up doc. And the camera shots were awesome, like it wasn't there, one of the best camera works i've seen.

Meh. It was almost promising. But surely there's a better story to tell of 130 million than of angsty children? My.
kelbo1rox2your3sox 1 year ago
@kelbo1rox2your3sox Yes, because searching for a better story out of 130 million individuals is an easy task.

@dbassplayer The results of capitalism actually. Servitude is no longer acceptable in the U.S. so we outsource it.
