  • Ha! Look at left monitor, he used Pure Data for head tracking, and his windows ask for activation :)

  • Hey I built something similar like the window app at my work

vimeo . com/21621227 let me know what you think!

  • "A touch screen only see touch directly on the screen"

"We wanna explore right ABOVE the screen"

Yeah, im sorry to say it microsoft, but Bamboo co. allready did this ...

    Bamboo fun drawing tablet ...

  • @MisterRealTown @1Animeculture

Wow, congrats for sounding like retards. So what you are saying is that my Intuos 3 which utilizes magnetic induction with a passive electromagnetic pencil or an infrared reflective surface with a lightswitch is exactly the same as advanced recognition AI coupled with a two-way OLED projector display that uses three-dimensional imaging and advanced head tracking. I'm sorry, but judging from your comments I really can see why you didn't choose to study engineering.

  • Come on Sony stop being lazy microsoft is about 2 shut u down

  • Imagine enjoying a picturesque scene from a window only to bump your head into a screen on moving closer....

  • @mikecsvu its not dpi

  • That is actually crazy

  • @therealsuperhobo Didn't a guy basically do this with a wii remote and some shitty 3d software? Innovation!

  • @MisterRealTown Johnny Lee was his name, and he did it 2 and a half years ago with hardware that is 1/5th the cost. Just google 'johnny lee wiimote' or something and you'll find it.

  • @MisterRealTown Johnny Lee now works for these guys; he helped create the Kinect

  • @MisterRealTown

Keep telling that to yourself, it really isn't the same; and BTW the guy you are refering to (Jhony Chung Lee) hes one of the minds behind Kinect.... OH the irony

  • @MisterRealTown

Man are u bit simple or what? It had nothing to do with that. The Wii guy had wiimote taped in his head. This uses kinetic to track head and projects images directly to your eyes. Different image to each eye so u see 3D without glasses and the point of view changes when u move. Tottaly new innovation.

  • @therealsuperhobo Didn't a guy basicly do this with a wii remote and some shitty 3d software? Innovation!

  • OMG EPIC SPLIT SCREEN!!! No more screen peeking, thumbs up if you play with friends in person.

  • Mindblowing!

  • Who noticed that the tea pot had a reflection? That's so awesome!

  • Was this programmed in lisp?

  • that is awesome

  • @therealsuperhobo

They bought the tech from an Israeli company

  • porn porn porn

  • "Activate Windows Now" 6:30

  • @woodnathan93 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • D: So I'll never have to worry about my friend screen peaking when we play split- screen games any-more? Awesome!

  • This looks exactly like Johnny Chung Lee's release detailing VR head tracking back in 2007. Props to Microsoft for applying it using only a camera, rather than an output (Wii Controller) input (sensor bar) system. Either a) Mr. Lee was hired by Microsoft, or b) Microsoft adapted/stole his ideas. Hopefully we will see stereoscopic or pseudo-stereoscopic LCD presentations in the next generation of consoles.

  • @QuackMasterDan He worked for MS and was part of the Kinect team. He recently left to join Google.

  • Being able to send different images to 2 players viewing the same screen is epic co-op gaming gold!

Imagine the trolling opportunities! Fooling the players by showing them different things. This is brilliant purely for that idea. Why have online co-op games not thought of this yet?

  • @Badhabitsjay Local multiplayer without split screen! Although it would probably be 2 players max. Screen watchers will be a thing of the past.

  • ay, um ah

  • Don't let the haircut fool you, I'm exceedingly wealthy.

  • @SuperElm What do you mean by shitty? Is donating lots of money to charity shitty? Saving people's lives shitty? An incredibly helpful community shitty? Liberal, yes, but since when was that inherently a bad thing?

  • @Bluer123

Saving lives? Donating money? What subreddits do you browse bro? Reddit is all about encouraging euthanasia, spreading libel on conservative commentators and being assholes.

  • @Bluer123 the right wing is a bunch of ignorant assholes that bend over and let corporations fuck them in the ass then blame other people for their ass bleeding. one day after these corporate whores destroy america will you wake up and realize that you should have been aborted at birth since you waste your life believing that the replubicunts really cared for america. judge a tree by it's fruit. the american right is what al queda wish to be when they grow up

  • Johnny Chung Lee suggested and made a demonstration of head tracking technology with just a Wiimote years ago. Not all the impressive Microsoft.

  • @fjl2x2 it's impressive because of the possibility of its application. i don't think you want a wiimote for every screen, with everyone wearing infared led head gear.

  • @fjl2x2 Johnny Chung Lee also used to work for Microsot until recently (He was hired because of his head tracking demo).

  • BORING...

  • @bje990 5:00 = amazing

  • @therealsuperhobo They just buy everybody out..

  • To think that theres a good chance we'll be alive to see this when its released for public use. Rejoice.

  • SATNAVs did it!

  • @therealsuperhobo MS INVENTS, while Apple innovates. Apple's never invented anything; they merely improved pre-existing products.

  • Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote.

  • at least they're trying to do something instead of come up with a new color and size for the ipod

  • Combine the stereoscopic left-eye right-eye with the Z-axis touch controls and you have some really impressive manipulatable floating objects.

  • I love how their images were put on the surfaces on the shiny objects to mimic a reflection.

  • Comment removed

  • this. is bad ass

  • @therealsuperhobo Microsoft innovates. It just doesn't SHIP. Courier, Surface, etc.

  • Did anybody notice the white kinect sensor at 5:28

  • @TTT1776

OH HEY EVERYONE I LOVE MACS SO IM GOING TO NEEDLY BASH WINDOWS DESPITE THEIR NEWEST OPERATING SYSTEM BEING INCREDIBLE. IM SO ORIGINAL AND FUNNY

  • @notsomebeans I wasn't trying to be funny and even their newest OS is pretty BLAH. It has no idea what security is that's why there is a endless market for Anti Virus, Malware, Spyware, Adware and so on. And who said anything about Macs?

  • @TTT1776 You do not get viruses if you use common sense.

  • @Jaketele While it is true that common sense does help quite a bit let me remind you that there has been viruses that you could get just from being online while doing nothing at all. Also now with Spyware, Adware and Malware I would dare say that 99% of windows computers are infected with something. *Ware developers are getting smarter, now their goal is to run in the background so flawlessly that you won't even know your computer is infected.

  • @TTT1776 Thanks for the bogus stat ace.

  • @Rurikar Find me one windows computer with out any kind of spyware, malware or adware and I will show you a windows computer that has never touched the Internet.

  • @TTT1776 Really? My computer hasn't had any viruses or malware except for tracking cookies that are not even harmful to begin with and I'm connected most of the day.

  • @xxcykexx That's just the thing, over the last oh, 5 years or so Malware, Spyware, Adware and Botnet software has changed it's style. It used to be that these programs were all up in your face and you knew you had a problem. Now their goal is to run in the background so you don't even know it's there. Windows is insecure by nature so just because your operating system seems to be clean doesn't mean that it's really clean. Anything could be going on in the background.

  • @TTT1776 Most of the malware problems exist because of users and third-party software like Adobe Reader and Oracle's Java. Do you just regurgitate words like "Windows is insecure by nature" without quantifying it with facts?

  • did you see the "activate windows" not even microsoft does it :-)

  • Comment removed

  • 6:28 MS forgot to activate their own software

  • This is what Sayid ended up doing after LOST ended.

  • Comment removed

  • He bounces a lot while he talks....

  • @therealsuperhobo M$ isn't that bad when it comes to certain developments and projects. Sure they are an evil company, but they also make contributions to free software (true story!) and do some cool crap

  • @therealsuperhobo they dont. They steal the idea of someone else who did this for the wii... over 3 years ago... and with a much tighter budget

  • @SkitsInfinity Actually they hired that guy and he's working on it with them.

  • @SkitsInfinity They hired him. They didn't steal it.

  • @SkitsInfinity not even remotely the same technology, and it wasn't a new concept then either.

  • 6:34 lower right corner, Microsoft is using pirated Windows.

  • I saw those stuff already from Lee's work.

  • were that much closer to holograms thx to the kinect yes!!!!

  • I'm loving his Batcave!

  • Man I thought Stevie B was gonna sing a hit song

  • why does MS not want u to touch anything :s

this is very very cool tech but i like to touch things

  • 2 people fear the Machine-God

  • Shame that HD video seems to have flown past them completely!

  • @therealsuperhobo Stop thinking! Just follow the herd!

  • Well thufferin' thuccotash!

  • This is great and all but ... where's the HD version of this video?

  • WHITE KINECT AT 5:27

  • @djmac3 that white one probally gonna be the next one but probally still in beta

  • The last time someone posted something this cool (Jeff Han = multi-touch gestures) Apple stole it and patented it for themselves.

  • Pron in 3D auto stereoscopic display?

    WIN

  • OMG I want that white kinect =P

  • Cool you could be watching porn at work while your coworkers "see" a spreadsheet lol.

  • @therealsuperhobo MS has these kinds of "videos" for the whole decade. Only project natal did live up to its promises, and even kinect is, although amazing, somewhat lacking in what concerns actual "Gameplay"...

  • I prefer to rest my hand on a mouse.

But you can work on a replacement for mouse and in the end you will succeed.

  • VVVV!!!

  • I should have stayed in school lol

  • ROFL - vvvv @6minutes

  • And the future appears more close every day.

  • like johnny's wii hack

  • And you thought that all the really talented minds at Microsoft were chopped up and eaten by the executives back in 2003...

Well, you were wrong. A few escaped and are hiding in CAVEs, developing cool shit that will surely be raped and mutilated beyond recognition by the good folks at marketing & devices.

  • i dont understand that part about wedge optics. is it automagically reorienting light from individual pixels, in a controlled fashion ?

  • Briliant! I can't wait to see more!

  • Isn't a lot of this just a fancy version of Johnny Lee's Wiimote hacks?

  • @neilioo A really really really really fancy version... maybe? No, it's actually not the same at all. The only thing similar is the headtracking - but Lee didn't invent that. The truly revolutionary thing is that it directs different images to different people/eyes. That's UNBELIEVABLE.

  • @neilioo

    yes, with corporate control

they want to take credit ,but johhny was first!

    open source,people power!

  • @frvfilms The first virtual window probably happened at Evans and Sutherland in the early 70's.

  • @neilioo

Johnny Lee currently works for Microsoft.
