Just for a point of reference, Al-Jazeera is no less distorted by its country's governing bodies than American "news", or any other country, for that matter. Knock off the U.S. bashing, it's pointless; all governments are guilty of censorship in one form or another. On another note, that woman is supermodel-gorgeous. If she ever gets burned out on journalism, I'd wager she would have a modeling career in the bag. Nothing hotter than a beautiful woman with brains.

I check Aljazeera on a daily basis for news updates. I appreciate the perspective they bring and in particular, I enjoy the fact they report from unusual places. As for balance, sure there is distortion everywhere, but I think it less so here.

I have been looking at Aljazeeras site, and it does look pretty good. But, I have seen some of the craziness that has run on the non english version as well... Wow! I returned my tv on march 2002. I didn't like news so much, and the advertisement on tv was simply to much. The soft-propaganda too. So I decided to try to inform myself from the radio/web. Although radio is not unbias is not as raf as tv. I listen to Democracy Now (hardcore Lib) every now and then, NPR (soft Lib) every day, and to ABC radio (RRRRight wing PROPG, with character's assesination, and all the dirty work).

Ya, I don't think most of people here ever watched the English version of Al Jazeera. I'm sure the Arabic version is not as matured as the English version but for the last 3 months that we have had it via satellite, I am impressed by the broad coverage of news from every corner of the world. The ample number of short documentaries resembles BBC style programs. They still got some way to go but it's much better than American news.
AL-Jazeera is VERY BIASED! I've watched the Arabic Al-Jazeera, and there isn't one commercial break where you dont see a documentary promoting Islam. Even the news programs are biased to the point that everything is about the Muslims in the Middle East, and there are no CHRISTIANS there AT ALL!

I really can't believe people get turned off Al Jazeera English over that stupid rumour. I'm glad it's free to view in Australia via satellite and I hope it stays that way. Try watching it, you might be surprised. And that's the English version of Al Jazeera, not the "evil" one as many Americans call it.

Check out the Witness episode "Inside the Red Mosque." After that, just try to claim that Al Jazheera is a supporter of radical Islam. Al Jazheera is without a doubt the most independent voice out of the Middle East. Also, because of who they are, they have access to things that Western reporters do not. It is a very positive thing that we have access to news from a Middle Eastern perspective for free.

Wow! I returned my tv on march 2002. I didn't like news so much, and the advertisement on tv was simply to much. The soft-propaganda too. So I decided to try to inform myself from the radio/web. Although radio is not unbias is not as raf as tv. I listen to Democracy Now (hardcore Lib) every now and then, NPR (soft Lib) every day, and to ABC radio (RRRRight wing PROPG, with character's assesination, and all the dirty work).

Ya, I don't think most of people here ever watched the English version of Al Jazeera. I'm sure the Arabic version is not as matured as the English version but for the last 3 months that we have had it via satellite, I am impressed by the broad coverage of news from every corner of the world. The ample number of short documentaries resembles BBC style programs. They still got some way to go but it's much better than American news.

Well, Youtube censors for holocaust denial. I used to have 4 and a half hours of video posted here. All removed by youtube staff. If you talk about the views of Abu Mazen, Hezbollah, Ahmadinejad, you might have to breach a subject youtube doesn't allow. Then your video will get removed for "Inappropriate Content."

it is a propaganda channel. Everything is bias. My best suggestion would be not to go too far in one direction. Best of luck your gonna need it. Muslim view points are irrelavent to people in the west.

Woo Hoo! Something besides Bush & FOX propaganda! Everyone needs to open their mind and take EVERYTHING in. Haven't you ever heard the phrase "there are two sides to every story?" We live on one side, but close our eyes to the other. Don't side with a political party just because it's the popular vote in your area. Create your own educated opinion. If you act like sheep, you will die like sheep. Poor sheep. ;)
