For anyone who is offering to make their own toys, please remember bird safety. Anyone can throw a together but will it later kill your bird??? There are many many things you need to be aware of as far as toy safety, strangulation, unsafe parts for ingestion, toes or beaks getting caught.  don't just throw a toy together and think it is great. Nothing worse then coming home to your beloved fid dead from an usafe toy.
