People really make me sick these days. I would love to show that guy in the video who the Alpha Male REALLY is. I know violence is not the answer nor do I condone it. Something does need to be done though. You expect this behavior from teenagers, not adults. Save the seals.
People can so such dicks! i mean Why cant we just walk like 2 minutes down the coast to a better beach. also, the guys who swin in the water are also swimming in a pile of seal crap! so its their loss! SAVE THE SEALS!
walking 4 minutes in either direction there is available entry to the water for people... its hard to see any logic in this stupid war on seals. seriously, $700,000 can help alot of students or homeless or provide some jobs for a few folks... i think we can all see this is just a waste of time & money.
I have been an volunteer for this beach for over 5 years. We are finally getting closer to knowing what is going to be done with this beach. The state Senate and Assembly just approved of amending the Charter to include the seals. We are waiting for the Governor to sign this bill. We all need to let him know of our wishes. If approved this issue will go back to the city council and out of the court system. It is up to us to let them know of our wishes, Thanks.
The kids say it best, and seem to be the most intelligent people interviewed! There's so much coastline for us humans to inhabit and enjoy, why fight to take over this tiny piece of beach?! We're just visitors...it's the seals' home.
One little girl said it perfectly. It's their home. The Ocean and beaches IS home to those seals. Thats the way god wanted it or else he would have never put them there in the first place. People can be so selfless .... Not just because of this issue but many others I have grown to hate human kind..or at least the selfless ones.
On some beaches in Hawaii, they close the beaches to the public especially for the seals to rest undisturbed. What would be the problem with closing off that small area the seals use? Seems pretty simple to me if can get past the fact that some selfish humans might have to move up or down the coast!
I don't want to have to pay money to see a seal in a zoo, I want to see them in their natural habitat, which is this tiny part of the beach. What is wrong with people!
i just went on a fieldtrip to the childrens pool to listen to the pro-seal people and pro-people speakers for a persuasive essay i have to write. and me, being a teenager. im a kid, straightup. so i think the kids should be able to decide if the seals should stay or not, i mean. it is a pool thats supposed to be for us. we have a voice too right? seals were here first. they should stay. [=
Agreed!! I think it would be great to hear about what the children think of removing the seals with sprays of water and noise costing >$700,000 (how about using that money for schools?!)
Humans are the greatest deterrent to the environment and wildlife. The seals were first and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Those humans are selfish ought to be ashamed of themselves! Selfishness has no place in the world.
If I ever visit that beach and there are people there, then I will do my best to make their time on that beach as uncomfortable as possible. It's one little silly beach for heaven's sake! Kids prefer to swim in swimming pools anyway. Listen to the kids! They'd rather have the seals there.
I believe the seals come first. We need to listen to the children who feel empathy and compassion for the harbor seals. It is the adults who are being selfish!
The seals are protected under the National Marine Mammal Act... and that TRUMPS any law our CORRUPT City Council tries to pass against the seals!!!! THE ANTI-SEAL PEOPLE ARE A FEW RICH LA JOLLA RESIDENTS AND IGNORANT JERKS. SCOTT PETERS Should be ashamed for ignoring Federal law and being so anti-environment for some rich La Jolla people!
I travel to La Jolla regularly, while I love the beauty of it. I hate going to La Jolla Cove
When I see all those idiots, harassing poor animals, and polluting beautiful coastline, I do realy think that people in some parts of America started to reproduce themself with vegetables!
I am not against tourism, but I think that a lot of people coming here, don't care about nature, because probably they're not going to come here again.. that is so selfish
I am learning more and more and getting involved this just shows how truly wasteful and selfish we as humans can be...how many other beaches are there to swim in and use??? We can't let one beach go???
What is the law? This is what YOU can do! Get the badge # you take down the officer's name and badge number, tell him to his face if he doesn't enforce the law, you are going to put a complaint in against him/her.You might get some response out of the officer if you tell them you are going to complain to whatever control board you have out there, like internal affairs, or civilian complaint review boards.
These seals have been coming here hundreds of years. Then man comes and take property of it from the animals. How dare them take this from them! I love to go there and just be with them. Sign the petitions to allow them to have their pups here. This is for children also to enjoy the seal in nature. Man has ruined animals lives and continues to keep doing it. Any place they want they will take it from the animals. Wrong.
Leave it up to California natives to think that seals should not migrate in their own habitat! The beach is the seal's home, not the human's home...Humans can go elsewhere if they do not like the fact that seals occupy a certain area on the beaches. I live in So Cal and I LOVE going to the beaches where the seals are! They are such sweet animals. Don't see why people have to be such bastards.
I used to be involved in vacation rentals and the main thing tourists raved about was being able to see the seals on Casa Beach. Humans have exclusive use of 99.9% of all the beach area in southern California, so I don't understand why a small group of people are demanding that we remove the seals from this one tiny beach so it can be used exclusively by humans also.
I was just there this past week, and it was great to see the seals. There are so many other beaches I visted in the San Diego area, so why can't they just let the seals have that one?
I live close by and have heard of jerks that think that a little beach of this size has to be all for humans , We steal space from every inch of sand away from seals and treat them poorly, We should be ashame at out selfs.. (

There's a nicer beach 5 seconds down the road! Why the hell should the people move a bunch of helpless seals, who NEED the place?
Chingirl94 2 years ago
That water is full of bacteria and seal poop. The seals should get the beach back--even the state says so now.

We do share this planet with other living beings -- just like we share our residences with other neighbors.
