Just so you know, this is not a composition. This is nothing. You cut and pasted music pieces together with no concept of how the original pieces were composed. This is miserable to listen to if you know anything about music.
@duerdo Sorry that this work has got you so, apparently, angry... To clear something up. I didn't cut and paste anything, if you knew the planets as well as I do you'd know that they are all playing simultaneously (what I did was use velocity, pan and fade to highlight and bring forth moods from each). Sorry that you found it "miserable" but please don't question the musical acumen of myself and the listeners who enjoyed what I have created, it's not your place or mine.
@shotogeek I own intelectual property over the concept. The music and recordings used are belonging of the publishers, hence why I don't claim any financial profit from the piece. It in now way belongs to my university or my faculty as it was not created or published by them.
@JaminCooper I gotcha. The university and program (IT) from which I graduated actually owns any concepts developed for classes or degrees. As far as I understand, that's pretty standard, so thought it might apply here as well. Just curious.
@shotogeek Yeah, that is pretty standard as far as I'm aware too. And it does, strictly speaking apply with my department too... I think... but I've never known my university to exercise a right over any creations. So as far as I'm concerned, the concept is mine, the music is Holst's and the recordings are the publishers, and I think that's how most would see it too... though it does get convoluted when you're creating music from another creation, and more so when it's for a degree lol
@familiaserrao It a piece composed of recording of all of the planets (and nothing more). It was composed as part of a major project for my degree and is actually made for live diffusion, making it an acousmatic piece. Thanks for listening!
i thought through the music and i like it a lot. it creates a lot of images of the history of the earth. i picked out sections that represented creation, the flood, Jesus' life, wars, conflict, peace, adventure, and majesty. this is truly an accurate compostion of "Earth" in my opinion, although it is composed of parts of other songs from "The Planets". i only wish this would be a written out piece for orchestras and bands to play. well done!!!
@muthbaseball101 Thank you. I like seeing what people read into this piece and what it means to them. With regards to it being written out and played by an orchestra... unfortunately part of the point of the piece, for me, so to create a piece that is un-performable (a true acousmatic composition). It makes more sense in it's fully panned copy... though I'd enjoy seeing a transcription/performance!
its a VERY intense song with meaning as deep as earth has lived a physical (material) world, this is why the song sounds very confusing to just about everyone who listens to it with out open ears...It describes earths struggles with dealing with the poisons and negative energy since the beginning of its time, mother earth is weeping in pain and if somebody does not do something by 2012 then all of life as we know, even the energy itself will be destroyed and earth will be a failed project...
@kickthejamz I dont think the world will end on 2012. Might be some changes yes, but I don`t think all living things will die. We can die tomorrow or by 3010. Who knows our expiration date? Only GOD.

If you did this as part of your degree, isn't it actually property of your school, at least to some degree?
