My moped was knicked. Stupidly, I reported it to the police. They found it, didn't tell me, gave it to a 3rd party storage company and told me I had to pay £125 to get it back from them. I refused to pay. They were unpleasant about it and made me feel I had done something wrong. When I complained the "inspector" (inspector Tyler at Braintree police station) told me to pay or they would crush the bike. I walked out vowing to never help the police again with anything. Tylers comment was "fine". R

your name doesn't need to be registered under the bike's name to be able to ride it, as a police officer, you're allowed to ride any vehicle as long as you have had response drivers training..... such as if you got arrested after driving, the police can legally drive your car to a more appropriate place

your name doesn't need to be registered under the bike's name to be able to ride it, as a police officer, you're allowed to ride any vehicle as long as you have had response drivers training..... such as if you got arrested after driving, the police can legally drive your car to a more appropriate place

Wrong? yes, probably, but whats the big deal? he rode around on a scooter for a laugh on the same piece of concrete and no one was around. Not quite the same as speeding down paths and roads where you fucking ASBO's endanger and terrorize people is it? I have seen cops ignore this type of behaviour from people who legally own a bike. Most of the time you guys get harassed is probably because you have a history of it, or you probably are crims anyway. Go the Police!

Then again, it may well have been owned by a law-abiding citizen, who knows.... :-) (it it belonged to an ASBO scumbag I say crush it and send them the bill)

I own a moped and I've been pulled once for dangerous driving, however, since that I have totally changed how I ride, its the people who do it time and again that need to be punished, not the one time offenders.
