He's great at pressuring but the Ignis meter forces you to stop the pressure to "heal" her which costs you the momentum of the fight, I think that's what people don't like about him. Carl is far less bothered by this.

I can definitely say that Relius is lacking ALOT compared to Carl. His combos usually require you to sacrifice momentum for a shitty ender, not to mention that Ignis lives alot less longer than Nirvana and you'll be having to choose between spending meter to bring her back, or giving no fucks and fighting doll-less (Relius's doll-less game is extremely weak compared to Carl, who can still hold his own without Nirvana.)

With those things weighing against Relius you'd understand why he's not used

@RandomGamerJ its not a dumb question lol, i havent played yet so i cant say much...but ignis usually just appears and does her normals when you press the button and i believe she moves with relius until her meter dies or you send her away

@RandomGamerJ No. There is no negative edging. You press buttons and she does the move instantly. She moves with you so there's no need to move her or any way to actually do that.

@colpro73 You're wrong. Positive edging only applies to moves that are of Relius. Like 214A or j.214B. However, when Ignis is summoned, you can use her own D-moves (6D, 2D, 4D, j.6D, j.2D, j.8D) which require negative edging.

@RandomGamerJ All her normals are done by inputting the button command, so no, Ignis is summons and unsummoned via 5D. Any input besides that causes her to use an ability.

@RandomGamerJ Actually Relius has a Jojo Bizarre Adventure like gameplay with his D move, Ignis appear and you can make her attack, from what i've read all her moves consumes her "life bar", when Relius or Ignis are attacked, she will diseappear until her bar is full.

@MeltshineZone not really sure....i guess they didnt take to him, a lot of strong players (hima,sekido,kagetsu for example) were using him early on but went back to their old mains. No new ones are popping up and he feels as rare as tsubaki in CS1, its kind of baffling since its not like he's bad...

@jourdal He's definitely not bad but I think his pressure gets stale after awhile. Once you learn what he's capable of it's not too hard to block his mixups.

@ImShiawase After watching a couple of relius vids I got this feeling also. I mean he has a couple of gimmicks like the unblockable setups and using multi hitting moves while crossing up the opponent to create carl-esque mixps, most notably rhapsody of memories and Relius' spin(236A iirc) . Other than that looks like he'll have a lot of good frame traps until Ignis runs out, but if you're looking for that why not play Jin?
