This is my Uncle Johnny Roberts Jr and he did survive this crash. He is still living and driving, just not race cars. He did race after this crash also. Of course he had to get out of the full body cast he was put in after this. I remember visiting him at home and seeing the cast. I was 7 at the time.
@SJfisherprice I know that this is a year ago. But is there any chance that your Uncle Johnny would have any photos of this car, (Before the wreck)? I have wanted to build a model of it for years. I even started a 1/25th scale model of the car as it was after the crash. I have a shot of teh aftermath on a video tape.
I am confused. When I search Johnny Roberts on the web, It claims that he died hitting the wall head on in 1965. This crash claims it is Johnny but this is in 1967. I just won the 1967 Stock Car Racing magizine, with this crash on Ebay, tring to learn the truth...
After some searching I see that a Johnny Roberts died as a result of a crash in a NASCAR Sportsman Modified race at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania on July 24, 1965.
Is it possible that there were two Johnny Roberts?
MMFan, That seems to be the info I have found. The magazine came, claims Johnny was not seriously injured in this crash.. I guess there could have been two , but I will continue in time to try to figure out more about Johnny Roberts. As an interesting note, The magazine claims with picture, that Jack Shanklin done 12 laps in the same race before he done a nasty series of flips, before the Robert's crash. Shanklin also, was not seriously injured!
well the reason they wrecked so much back then was because they didnt have power steering they were the real drivers not gordon or stewart or johnson more like earnhardt and petty and waltrip
I love the look of those old cars.

@markmartinfan Roberts was the Modified-Sportsman champion, and was one of the top competitors in that series. I'd say there were two Johnny Roberts.
