Did anyone else find it odd that the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation didn't include a single highlight of either the Oilers, Flames or Senators runs to the Stanley Cup Finals in this montage? They were kind of significant in Canada.
After I saw Saku Koivu on this video, I undestood how proud and happy I should be because I'm Finnish :). Ofcourse I don´t want to belittle any of the other players or the events on this video. Just saying...
Wow, does Canada have a man-crush on Crosby or what? He's a great player, but I can think of a lot of other great moments that could have been included by simply cutting down on his camera time in this video.
@hongfuchen You miss all the other great stuff going on in hockey if you overly focus on one player, one team, one nation. Obsession means you blind yourself to all the other great things going on out there (hockey and otherwise).
@StarZoneX Em, we are Canadians, I'm pretty sure we are aware of all those other great stuffs. If anything US hockey coverage the last couple years has all been Crosby vs. Ovechkin. At least CBC tries to cover the Canadian teams.
@PumaTomten It's a CBC video. It's really a "Best Canadian Moments in Hockey Over the Last Decade" video. Lots of great hockey stuff they didn't include because they can only talk about Canada. Sweden winning the gold? USA Youth World Championship run? First European player to captain a Stanley Cup team? How about the first southern team to win a cup (Tampa Bay) or west coast team (Anaheim)? But hey, if Calgary (2004) or Edmonton (2006) won, they would have been in the video.
@PumaTomten Finland have never won a championship? Well, if I'm correct Finland just won gold medal in the World Championships.. against Sweden. Same thing happened in 1995. Against Sweden.
I just figured out "HNIC" was Hockey Night In Canada. I was expecting some sort of reference to the movie "Lean On Me". I wish we had Hockey Night In Canada where I live. Nice video, great moments and memories.
nyyNYR2094, you're a tool with obviously nothing better to do than go through comments on a YouTube video. I posted that back in August dude. It's February. That's a lot of comments to read to see mine. How's life in your parent's basement going bro? And I'm a girl. Girls are allowed to cry at stuff. So are guys for that matter. How about you go back to playing HALO all night and leave the intelligent conversations
Wow this video gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Hockey is just the greatest sport in the world. Classiest professionals and just amazing Comebacks (Lemieux and Koivu).
the Koivu clip will always bring tears to my eyes, i still remember watching him come out on the ice with thousands of Montreal fans giving him a standing O. the little smile on his face makes it even better, he's like "yeah, im not going anywhere"
@pajo94 yea let's just call him the best regular season goalie ever, he came up big in the 3 stanley cups he won but Roy man, even though I'm a Wings fan and I hate him with a passion, he still is the most clutch playoff goalie off all time
I swear, Mario Lemieux is God-he's faced cancer and come back, major injuries and come back, etc. Canada winning the 2002 Olympic gold (in the United States, no less!!!!) was awesome.
curt keilback (phoenix coyotes announcer) the guy that made the Ovechkin call has the WORST voice in the history of voices.. the man shouldn't even have been allowed to call a traffic report... :( good job getting rid of him Coyotes!
Why wasn't every Stanley Cup victory there? Why is only a few more worth than others? Why is only Canadas triumph at the Olympics there? Why not Swedens victory in 2006? Why is not World Cup there? Why wasn't the lookout there? Is that not something worth mentioning? Why does it only show Marios comeback and not hid final retirering? Why not all great players retierment?
@Slegnirp ya gotta keep in mind, at least as far as the Olympic victories... this is a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, so it's gonna focus mainly on Canada's achievements. As for the Pens winning the Cup, Crosby is Canada's golden boy.
Joe Sakic 2002 Salt Lake City. My whole town was packed in the Arena and when he scored the last one, i can't describe it. The sheer hatred of Americans we have. We couldnt lose to them. It was a priceless moment.
@893160007 It would have made more sense to show more than just 1 cup winning moment. I would like to know why they singled out Crosby, other than him being the poster boy of the league.
@relam13 well, they did go from bankrupt peices of nothing to stanely cup champions, similar things can be said for caps, they are an extreme threat........... why is it everyone hates on crosby and ovi so much , no one did that shit to wayne gretzky, i guess they didnt have youtube back then
Great video, but I dislike Gretzky's "I'm tired of people taking shots at Canadian hockey" statement--it's incredibly hypocritical. Canadians pretend to be hockey underdogs, but they're the perennial gold-medal favorite. As an American hockey fan, I take way more shit from my Northern neighbors than vice versa.
he said that in 2002. Canada hadn't won gold for 50 years before that. USA on the other hand won a few. so before he said that, they werent a favorite, they wernt even a favorite in that olympics
