EVERYONE, this disables prefetch and yes will boot your pc faster, but nothing gets loaded, so all programs take longer to start up.....don't bother. Prefetch is one of the best things about booting up.
As for hibernating, it isn't booting up so the memory gradually degrades through fragmentation and all the temp files build up.
There is another way to boot your computer faster. When you click start then turn off computer then hit the H on your keyboard. It will force your computer to hibernate. The next time it boots it will return right back where you left off, even if a web page is up. Everything is saved where you left off and boots faster than a normal boot up.
DO you think the registry editor would have been included in windows if all it did when you use it was stuff up your install? The registry is a massive (not very user friendly) collection of different settings that can be changed and tweaked to make windows do things differently (for use by 'advanced' users). And yes you can stuff up windows badly by changing the wrong keys, but changing the prefetch wont.
it work,thank for sharing.

From wikipedia, Prefetcher values: * 0 = Disabled * 1 = Application launch prefetching enabled * 2 = Boot prefetching enabled * 3 = Applaunch and Boot enabled (Optimal and Default)
So, setting it to 5, probably just disables the prefetched.. who knows?
