@ShowatoHeisei : It's good for "B" rated entertainment in regard to disaster movies and in the words of Leslie Neilsen.......... "and don't call me shirley".
In 2009 you could computer generate everything and have it turn out much more realistic. I recognized at least one shot from the movie "Earthquake" in there.
The background of the city needs to be on fire instead of those northern lights show. Also the hospital needs to be more appearance instead of this first floor thing.
This is a chain reaction disaster a series of small accidents causing a greater disaster, once again I use the Texas City disaster as an example the initial explosion vaporized the Grandcamp but it also set fire to refineries and storage tanks in the port itself, which exploded as well and the debries from the ship and refineries rained down on the areas beyond the port, setting off fires and causing damage there as well
If a fire sets off enough explosive material the shockwave can be felt for miles from the epicenter, I brought up the fact that this film reminded me of the Texas City Disaster, in that event when the Grandcamp exploded the force of the explosion caused damage in Houston, Galvaston and the force of the blast was felt as far away as 100 miles from the epicenter, also in the 1917 Halifax Disaster the shockwave from the blast was felt as far away as 220 miles from the epicenter
Yeah, my mother saw this movie in theaters with my father. They used to be big disaster movie fans back in the 70's. By the way, what disaster would that be?
Too many people are ignorant of the, awesome, physical forces that can result from an explosion AND inferno. The " Texas City, TX Disaster in 1947 " is a horrific reminder of that reality. Hollywood Disaster films are, too often and unfairly, ridiculed because it's viewers are ignorant of the chain of events and time sequences these films attempt to re-dramatize.
One american city on fire is not enough for better future...

This movie was remade in 2000 as ABLAZE, it used a lot of stock footage from this movie and striking distance!
