  • I see where you get that lovely tone. I am sure it has to do with that broken wing right arm thing you got going. I have a request.

  • as always with all of your music,,luv it thanks for posting

  • Even though I have seen bluegrass great, Bobby Hicks, play this tune at tempo on Youtube.com, I have come to love this version. If people were dancing a waltz to this tune, they would have a little pause before they started each section. I don't think they would mind though. Keep up the great work.

  • I think you do this tune a big service by drawing out the notes of each phrase. Even though it is not in strict time, it sounds very special. Did the man who made your violin also make your bow?

  • Thank you for your lovely playing both we miss this very much in Belgium

  • THeres one fer ya! :D

  • Excellent, this version of Maiden's Prayer should be the gauge that all that all new, aspiring fiddlers should strive to emulate. MP is my favorite all time fiddle tune and after 50 years of listening to a gillion versions, I have never heard it played better than this. Absolutely perfect in my opinion.

  • It's just the style we play it. Old time fiddle style dictates playing the notes more evenly, keeping strict time, and less jazz from the guitar. We have more fun playing it our way!

The violin was made by a friend, Ivan Zgradic.

  • Another pretty tune. Is it just the styling of the tune that you "drag out:" the various notes?

  • Beautiful!! Thank you so much for posting :)

  • Wow love the way you play your fiddle, And i love how doc compliments your playing. You guys are a marvelous duo.

By the way, I am 73 yrs old.

  • My daughter is learning this song so I youtubed the title. this is a fantastic rendition. Who are you two? I couldn't figure it out on google. Very, very nice!

  • You guys are wonderful!

  • Wonderful performance. One of my favorite songs that my Dad played on fiddle.

  • I Love your version for sure. I found this one looking for a version by Chubby Wise,he did record this did'nt he ? Keep up the great sounds ........ Mike

  • If only I could have won her heart. See you guys at the HEBER CITY COWBOY POETRY. NOV 4-9-2008

  • Dear Ms. "The Lady,"

Oh my, you're good! Super sloopy slides!

    David

  • I was looking for a version of this tune to learn to play. This is it!!! I won't play it nearly as well, but it's what I'll aspire to.

    Thanks for posting it! Beautiful!

  • Good luck! Just a word of caution: if you plan on playing in old-time fiddle contests, this may not be the version to learn. But, if you like crowd pleasers, this one seems to work pretty good!

  • I'm from Tingwick Québec and I'm a fiddler myself,I play that maiden's prayer for years, but the way you guys do it is just wonderfull..! BIG BRAVO

  • Thank you for your kind comment!

  • Lady(name?), you are quickly becoming my favorite violin player. You must have spent a lot of time on your playing. Excellent to outstanding.

  • Thank you!

  • Great. Congratulations.

  • The late great Bob Wills played this song in the key of A. I see this is where they also played it. I like to play docs songs to. Watsons blues is a fun tune to play. Maidens prayer was done very good. Nice job guys.

  • Not bad guitar either

  • I agree, the guitar is excellent! I guess I was just searching for fiddle videos and thinking along those lines. Doc makes these old time fiddle tunes interesting, as opposed to most people who play simple versions. There's no doubt he's one of the best bluegrass players I've seen on here.

  • He has to pley well to keep up with the Lady.

  • Excellent fiddling!
