You said before that it is advised to go outside with a male protector. That means that there still must be bad men around (just like there is here) if women need protecting. Like you said, there is always a minority of bad apples in the bunch.
About the spree thing, are you suggesting that the lack of sexual ethics a society (the west for example) leads to more incest in that society? Well, that is probably true.
I have talked about womens rights in Islam, so thats what you must have seen. But since then I have read that these abominable things that happen to women are not true Islam, but misinterpretations of Islam. They still happen unfortunately. The Taliban was the worst. Saudi Arabia is still pretty bad. What bothers me is the repression women by not punishing the perpetrators of honor killings properly, which should receive FULL murder charges - period. I am keen to discuss this more with you.
As I'm living in Saudi Arabia, I'm very aware of the ground realities. And I won't be surprised to get completely false statements about this place, as I've come across countless already.
Starting with Taleban... they don't live here! yes! so I don't know what to say about how they treat women.(we haven't had a bomb in like 5 years here, nor have I heard about anyone being caught for planning anything in a long long time. Taleban exists in Afghanistan.
Thankyou, I wish to learn about your country. The taliban, when they were in control, outlawed education, voting, any form of employment and medical attention (by male doctors) for women. Women found in the company of a male non-relative were sentenced to death. But taliban no longer run the show there thank god. About your country, it seems it is always hot? Anyway, do you wish to hear some of the things that are said about the treatment of women there, then let me know if true or not?
Taliban were in control? Saudi Arabia is the least likely country to be taken over by not just Taliban, but anyone. That's because its a Kingdom.
outlawed education? I studied here my whole life, and I've scored 4 A stars and 2 As in IGCSE, the BRITISH BOARD EXAMINATIONS.
There is no voting, this is a Kingdom.
Women are working in Saudi Arabia now just as much as in any country. Yes, there is actually a given PERCENTAGE of how much staff must be women, else your business will be sealed.
women are soon to be allowed driving license in the kingdom, developments are being made, and we're not far from it. It is being done as many of the working women desire to transport on their own.
permission to go outside? hahahha are you 7 year old? there is no such 'law' of taking permission from males or whatever. However it is advised to go out with a male, so he can serve as a protector. We don't tolerate any kind of even minor harassment of women you see. Unlike some who.... u knw what!:D
I've spent at least 14 years here, and I've never known anyone who knew anyone who saw any such incident of a woman being sentenced to death. That means even if it happens, its like 1 case in 10 years. I think that's nothing compared to the daughter-raping spree in europe, where father's rape their daughters for 8-10 years and seal them in basement. One father had 6 children from his daughter, and one raped her with assurance from his wife as they desperately needed a kid.LOL & u point at us?!
It sounds like you get very biased media there too. It was not 'fathers' raping their daughters and sealing them in the basement but only ONE 'father' doing that. No spree - that must be a media lie.
The Taliban are horrible, and are now trying to control Pakistan. Is is a fact that they still prefer to outlaw education for women, did you not know this?
It is good to hear that women are given a fairer place there. Are you a woman?
yes it IS a spree, I've read more than 5 articles on bbc/cnn myself.
at least 2 cases which I can clearly recall are of the father who had six kids with his daughter, and of the mother who forced her daughter to try and reproduce with the father in the family, as the mother desperately needed another kid but was not conceiving. She actually gave tips to her daughter about how to have sex with her father to make it as much possible as they could to have a child. lol.
Thats pretty crazy of those people, but it is no spree - a spree would indicate that everyone is doing it, like 100's., not 2. Im not 7, there is just bad information everywhere.
The thing about religions is that they could be practiced peacefully with no war. Any religion must respect other religions, and also those that choose not to be in any religion. Every religion on the planet has shed blood in the name of god. If god loves everyone, then god will be against anyone dieing for religion.
I still say its a spree, coz there must be 100s of cases still undiscovered. and of course, as I said before, I'm not really that much into news else I would've heard a lot more of those. Someone I know in Germany also said that these things keep happening.
Another thing I read was about some Europe country opening up "drop your baby" boxes, to avoid illegitimate dead babies being found in trash, fridges and what not.
FewExtremists my friend, are who shed blood. Average Peaceful people do not.
I agree totally about extremists, most people are good. The Christian crusades were terrible as well as so many 'wars'. Unfortunately it is often the extreme types of personalities that have the drive to obtain power. The west needs enemies in order to keep their war economies alive. Once the communists were the enemy, now it is Islam. There is a lot of propaganda dispensed through the media and a lot of information suppressed by governments. They try and brainwash us, the civilian population.
the reason why you might think women-mistreatment incidents are very common here is just because the west media(which is very powerful), makes sure no incident is ever missed, in fact they count each one at least 1000 times. A rape in Saudia would make the top story of CNN, while a gang rape of a group of women in U.S. would be lying in the corner of their website, or may not even appear at all. Yes, its usually hot weather in Saudi, though we've had kool weather this year so far by grace of God
In 2002 there was a fire at a school in Mecca. 14 girls died the fire because the mutaween would not let them come outside because they were not wearing correct Islamic dress. The Saudi Arabian English language daily Arab News quoted eye witnesses as having said: "Whenever the girls got out through the main gate, these people [Mutawa'een] forced them to return via another",..."instead of extending a helping hand for the rescue work, they were using their hands to beat us. "
It was not in the interest of Islam. Islam allows us to even eat a pig to save our life, if we are dying with famine. Leaving a building without proper dress is but then just a small issue.
So it was due to illiteracy of people involved, and there was/is no flaw in Islam.

Last week a man was sentenced to death for being gay, and in 2006 a woman sentenced to death for witchcraft.
So it happens more than once in 10 years.
In 2007 there were 158 executions.
In 2006 there were 39.
By august 2008, 71 executions.
This data comes from amnesty international.
I dont know how many were women though.
In USA there are executions too.
Is it true that women are forbidden to drive there?
Is it true that women need permission from a male just to go outside?
