    Hi,

These are museum quality model replicas of the real thing. (They are NOT real)

However, from behind glass the latest versions look just like the real thing!

  • Hear, hear! This would also reduce the need for collectors to feel they need to catch them in the wild, and, by bringing the price down, put paid to the black market. Profits from the then legal trade could also be put directly to improving and maintaining their habitats, and to maintaining the butterfly-farming installations.

  • Too right the females abdomen is way too colourful, otherways they do look like the real thing, well done.

  • The latest 'specimens' have been updated - bodies airbrushed instead of hand painted, different colour schemes for male and female plus remodelled antennae - Web site and video to be updated soon!

  • they rly huge :)

  • good idea :)

  • How much do these cost? I would like a pair of legal ones.

  • Hi Kazziu,

the specimen was modelled on a famous specimen that was closest to the appearance of the insect in real life. A lot of specimens lose their abdomen colour once dried. (and many are VERY old)

We may offer an 'aged' museum 'relic' version soon though!

  • i think the abdomen of the female should have the same creme-brown-silver colour as it's back wings, yellow only with males, but i can be wrong...
