  • Four absolutly beauitiful pieces ...

I need to listen much more the music of this great composer ...

because such marvels let me guess that i am missing something !!

  • Krásné :)

  • I just learned about Janacek by reading the first book from 1Q84, i was simply overwhelmed by his music when i first heard it. Why is this compositor so little known to the general public?

  • Thank you so much for sharing both interpretation and score!

In the "fugatus interruptus" the Presto reminds so much the last movement of the Hammerklavier sonata.

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful music. He creates his own soundscape, doesn't he, and takes you into his world of beauty and mystery. He influenced so many fine writers for piano, including the Australian, Roy Agnew. This is such an inspiration!

  • Janáček's music makes me proud of being Czech. Prague's been in the mist for a few days now, couldn't resist playing this piece.

  • 4:35 pianissimo??

  • I remember a live performance of this by Lupu... he was astonishing

  • This and Ives' 2.Piano Sonata are just the top of piano music.

  • I just finished reading about Janacek and had to check out his music. It is SO gorgeous. A much different alternative to the paths of Schoenberg and others

  • 3:02, wow.

  • Sounds almost like Medtner

  • Thank you for posting the score as well as the music -- very nice of you to do that.

  • Enigmatic indeed, so damn powerful

  • I read about Janacek in a book by Milan Kundera, it's one of his prefered composers, and I'm so glad to know him! his music is fantastic!

  • @claudiaflamenco Me too ! :D I'm so happy to listen to his piano music… Beautiful !

  • @claudiaflamenco same here, i just clicked on this because of Milan's book.

  • So beautiful and enigmatic! It gives a lot of freedom to the performer to express individuality.

  • ah,this piece is magnificent, and it really reminds mist but with kinda happy mood))

  • really beautiful, janacek is a boss

  • Wonderful, thankyou so much for posting this magical piece.....

  • Really great, and thank you so much for posting the music in real time; this is a great help to someone trying to decipher the complex rhythms. I was familiar with Janacek's operas, a little, but I was unaware what a terrific piano composer he was; and these are really thoughtful and skillful performances. Thank you thank you thank you.

  • I agree with your enthusiasm Asthatis, a great composer and this is such a beautiful work. I wish more would be played at recitals.

  • I'll listen to this tomorrow by Radu Lupu! :D

  • at around 3:48, how come some of the notes are smaller?

  • It's a voicing thing, I believe. The smaller notes are to be played, but the big notes are the ones making the actual melody. It's a space saving voicing technique. Liszt and Villa-Lobos do it too.

  • i heard this at a concert it was so wow

  • masterpiece of XX century, as well as "On an overgrown path"...Janacek was a genius

  • lol

  • @pmberns Me, I liked the opening much more. It was very interesting to me, harmonically.

  • @pmberns

I love the start of this piece. Then again, I don't need dozens of notes to be flying all over the place quickly to be impressed. The start of this piece is incredibly beautiful, and I've have been happy if the whole piece stayed at that pace

  • @pmberns isnt that where it becomes prosiac and chopinmaninoffish?

  • @pmberns that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard

  • WOW

  • Oh thank you for posting this. It is very beautiful. I had not really been able to listen to Janacek but I have been wanting to for some time. This will become apart of my creative music to listen to. :)

  • amazing, im playing this for my diploma its beautiful, i fell in love with it the moment i heard it.

who is the pianist playing this?

  • Yeah, not only a very beautiful piece, but very well played! I'd like to know too.

  • it says in the beginning:

    Mikhail Rudy

  • @pianobabeful

I don't know for sure, but in the tags for this it mentions both of the names Mikhail and Rudy....does this help? I'm also doing my diploma and my teacher and I are currently deciding on the reportoire - this is a strong contender!!

  • thanks a lot for uploading this! even with notes! very helpful for my study on this peace.

  • I didn't know Janacek...unfortunately!

He is a great composer, i like his art of the piano!

  • oh, you should listen to all of his works for piano, piano and orchestra, orchestra, etc. I love Janacek and hope I'll have time to upload something else soon.

  • I think his music is great but it is not top shelf like Mendelssohn.

  • @morvensky I think Mendelssohn's music is great but not top shelf like Janacek.

  • @Astathis THE STRING QUARTETS!!!!!!!!

  • @Pironet You have right, Janacek was a great composer for piano bud did you hear any His operas? He was very good composer for piano but I don't know any musical people who listen to His operas... And Petr Eben is very different from Janacek. Eben has great pieces for human voice and terrible pieces for organ or piano...
