I LOVE IT!!! I'd love to make these into earrings, may be a little too big though, will have to decrease the size of the square to say 6 instead of 12 right?
Where am I inserting my hook into what stitch, is it the same one on in each stitch going around you are your really not clear as to where is ti to be. Please explain.
@angelinejt In the video details of this video, there is a link to the written instructions on my crochet blog. You will see a symbol chart of the heart. It should help you see where to place your stitch.
I am going to try this - our family day is coming up and I am responsible for my team's gear - I think I'm going to make this into earrings for all the females but instead of using this size yarn - I'm going to use a smaller size crotchet thread
I have done and finished this for just 1 hour and 30mins :) and this has been a great gift for my best friend who love hearts :) . Thank you very must for posting this Teresa :D
My mom taught me to crochet when I was about 10 years old. I have been crocheting for 40 years and I love all the new styles of crocheting. You have the best videos. I wanted to learn to knit and ran across your videos and I am so glad I did. I didn't know about the rev. single crochet and I love it. It makes a great way to end some of my work. Thanks for the videos
What an elegant and simple pattern! Thank you, Teresa! I did this last night. Perhaps I did something wrong (I don't think so, I followed the instructions to the T)- but my heart came out puckery on the top where all the QC's are. I think I'm going to try doing it again, but only doing 8 QC's, not 10.. LOL, will let you know how the great experiment goes. Also, I did the ch3, single crochet edging, but will try the reverse crochet edging. Haven't done that yet! Looking forward to learning it.
@harmonykieding Just updating my comment: I made the heart, but what seemed to work best was having 9 QC's- that ended the puckering. Also, instead of the two edgings, I used a simple slip stitch around the whole heart and that actually worked pretty well- was surprised.
Fun project! I just finished it right now using lilac string. Very stunning and a great gift to send my folks instead of some store bought card haha :D
hi teresa, i wanted to tell u that its a very nice heart and i learned how to do the stitch but i couldnt get the shape of the square right. I was working based on the diagram that u gave on ur blog but i it came out as a rectangle instead of a square form.. what did i do wrong can u please help?

as a begginer this was amazingly easy.... I just loved it. And right in time for Valentines Day. You are an amazing teacher and I so appreciate your videos. Thank you so much!
This video was great. I did it on the first try in about an hour. I have been crotcheting for a while but only simple things. You are a great teacher and the videos are great!!!
Hi Teresa. I just completed my thirteenth blanket since July. I donate them to daycare centers here in Philadelphia. I was wondering if your wrists ever get sore or tired, and how often do you crochet each day. Seems like a lot, but don't stop. All of your videos are great. I did find the gel grips and gloves.
I may crochet a couple hours a day. Tired wrists may be from holding your work to tight or doing it to long. I have found that it is helpful to take breaks and stretch out your arms. I will twist my wrists around in a circular motion to stretch them.
I had to do this twice and in a different color so that it i could see better also i think i did the first one to tight but i got it after watching this again. I was wondering if i could possibly make this into blanket or attach it to one how can i go about doing this? Again Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much! This was fantastic. I made this one and the one from the "solid heart" video, where it was smaller. My smaller one came out better. My bigger one was alright, but I'll just have to keep practicing! I gave the bigger one to my mom as a coaster/doily for her coffee mug and she loved it! Thanks so much. :)
Hi.. this is great. I have just started crocheting and I made this heart today. It was easy to follow and came out ok .. although not as good as yours. I am excited about my new found interest in crochet.. thanks a ton for this video! :)
hello i want to say i love all your video and you maker it so easy for me to learn thanks so much but with this pattern what could you make with this useing the hearts?
You can use them on granny squares. Embellish a hat, bag, shirt or make them in to a pin. Depending on what size heart you use, you can make two, sew them together and make a little purse.
I have done several granny squares 9 rounds each square and they ruffle a little bit and to my understanding blocking them should solve that problem. Or if you have a suggestion, I'll gladly take that :-)
I would not worry about a little bit of fullness. Once you put it together it will probably be fine. I have never blocked yarn myself. I do have a video tutorial on blocking thread, but the process will not be the same as a doily.
Where do you purchase your yarn from? And also can you do a video on blocking? Because I have several granny square blankets I need to do. Thanks again.
Hi, first of all let me say thank you for posting all of these videos. You have helped me so much with my crocheting. I have been crocheting for about 7 years and could only make blankets, but with your videos I have gone further than I expected. My Sister also crochets, but she is stuck in the same place I was and I told her to start looking at your videos (she's a lefty). So, thank you again and keep up the great work.
I have one question If I cast on 21 and single crochet in 20 and crochet 20 rows, what stitch what you do 4 the humps of the heart and how many (I am trying to make my nana a pillow but i want it to be bigger)
It can be done with some modification. You may need to do 2 rows for the heart humps instead of 1. You will find your center point and crochet in however many stitches you want. Lets use 10 for an example. The next row will be 2 stitches in each stitch for 20. The larger you make the heart, the more rows you will have for the humps.
thanks for showing us how to make the hearts. since it was so easy and i had so much fun making them, i gave them away as Valentine's Day gifts along with hershey kisses. everyone really liked them :)
I got to let you know it's awsome the work you make it makes it so simple and beautiful got to give you an OUTSTANDING 10 . May god bless you so you can keep on teaching us !!!!
I just want to say....this is VERY easy and understand it easily. Thank you....and 1 more thing....I REALLY want to know how to make socks..can you make a video about how to crochet socks please? Thanks!
I started counting like you do and now my squares are more (square). i was wondering why they were lopsided. lol they werent the same number each time.
You are welcome. You can do this same trick with any size square. The difference will be adding half circles to fit 2 edges, creating the heart shape.
It will depend if you continue working in the same direction or turn. It does not matter since the rounded sections will work, no matter which direction you go.
Gracias por compartir este tejido, no sè inglès pero està muy claro, me motiva para empezar de nuevo mi terapia oocupacional. Dios les bendiga. Saludos desde el noroeste de México.
How do you get the stitches to come out looking neat? Is there a trick with the tension(keeping everything tight) or something else? Just asking since whenever I follow along my work looks a lot more messy. I think it comes from practice since I've only been crocheting for about 2 weeks now.
practice does help alot. It may also help that you keep the tension with your left hand by wrapping the yarn under your little finger and over your first finger, you can see pics. It may have something to do with how you hold your work, but with practice, you will have even stitches.
With practice, you will develop your own personal tension. The consistent tension will play a role in even stitches. When I first started my stitches were a big mess. It is a gradual process through practice.
i like to make the chain with my fingers

well if you fold the square you'll find where the middle to crochet. To make the triple treble crochet chain 1 between the triple treble crochet.

I started counting like you do and now my squares are more (square). i was wondering why they were lopsided. lol they werent the same number each time.
TurtleNOhio 3 years ago
Counting is very important. Sometimes I forget to count and next thing you know, I have skipped a stitch and then I have to rip.
tjw1963 3 years ago
You are welcome. You can do this same trick with any size square. The difference will be adding half circles to fit 2 edges, creating the heart shape.

In this pattern, what corner would the starting tail be in? Mine ended up right where the slip stitch is supposed to go so I ended up sewing it in...
leopardstar151 3 years ago
It will depend if you continue working in the same direction or turn. It does not matter since the rounded sections will work, no matter which direction you go.

i'm trying a ch 50 and 50 rows of sc heart, butI find it a bit difficult to make the half round top.. can u help me with this point?
Lonely0Ruby 3 years ago
It will be necessary to do several rows to build up the rounded section. I have a couple of tutorials related to half circles if you are interested.

How do you get the stitches to come out looking neat? Is there a trick with the tension(keeping everything tight) or something else? Just asking since whenever I follow along my work looks a lot more messy. I think it comes from practice since I've only been crocheting for about 2 weeks now.
leopardstar151 3 years ago 2
practice does help alot. It may also help that you keep the tension with your left hand by wrapping the yarn under your little finger and over your first finger, you can see pics. It may have something to do with how you hold your work, but with practice, you will have even stitches.
tboombi 3 years ago 2
Thanks for the advice!
leopardstar151 3 years ago
With practice, you will develop your own personal tension. The consistent tension will play a role in even stitches. When I first started my stitches were a big mess. It is a gradual process through practice.
