  • Most original uniform ever made by the most intelligent army ever concieved! Greetings from australia.

  • Comment removed

  • if u wear tis with tags u can be arrested if u werent in miltary

  • Happy 30th Birthday still the Best. Damn. Uniform in My book.

  • Some can understand why most don't want to starch or iron but some people like myself thought you iron and press one uniform,But you where issued two sets one to iron and starch the other to wash and wear in combat plus theirs no harm of taking a half hour off the laptop and do alittle ironing that alone "wont kill you" Then again the army can just bring back a non shine black boot and dvelope a pattern more intuned to the BDU and DCUs that dont require too much work, just a thought.

  • BDU>ACU

  • Thats right the army is replacing the velcro on ACU's because it scares the sheep when we try to hump them. BDU's were silent with the buttoms

  • I prefer the acu since most soldiers and I dont want to starch, iron and spit shine our boots. Only bad thing I can say about acu, crouch area rip easy, the velco is crap.

  • This gear blew. Buttons came off. Pockets put in unnecessary places that trapped in heat and moisture and were covered up by armor and backpacks anyway. Collar design made no sense. Pockets on the pants were too huge and were hard to get to while crouching. Good riddance.

  • @extruderofdertrude did u know the army is slowly replacing velcro for buttons on the acu because velcro make to much noise

  • @50TNCSA

Yeah hopefully they'll be less bulky.

  • GOODNIGHT SWEET PRINCE

  • I love woodland and the 3color desert. They added the ugly army digital, what will it do for camo? It blows

  • we need to go back to that unifrom after we leave afghanistan and iraq. i don't care if you have to starch, press, iron or etc. the thing is.. maintaing the BDU and DCU teach soldiers self discipline and take pride of your job.

  • I want to go back to that uniform, the acu looks like a shitty pair of pajamas. The crotch rips out of them easily as well. The velcro is also highly POG and gay. One day the top brass might stop sucking cock and get us a decent uniform again.

  • but i will always wherer my bdu's hell ill even get them in multicam

  • they still use these in the navyseals a lot.

  • miss be all you can be though :(

  • I wish we would have kept the Summer Khaki Uniform with the BDU's & now the ACU's. When I first enlisted we were issued the fatigues & it was easy to identify the soldiers who took pride in themselves & their chosen profession. Today's military is very different with regards to uniform & the individuals serving.

  • I always wore US Millitary uniforms not that Im particularly pro american but i just always did for some reason. When digital uniforms came up i decided not to switch to them. I do not like ACU and I like MARPAT neither. I respect US Army choosing ACU and I understand that they provide better camouflage in urban areas but i simply do not like it. It makes you look strange somehow blurry, woodland BDUs is a classic for outdoor activities, camping, martial arts or shooting practise.

  • Still have dad's pair from when he was in the guard; still got the National Guard summer camp smell. Like these better than ACU's anytime of the day

  • at least cadet programs like the civil air patrol will keep them alive

  • ACU is better for urban combat

  • The ACU's that I will be issued are ugly. I want BDU's!

  • they shouldnt have changed them. there was nothing wrong with them

  • @sinister21xxx i have a pair of BDU and ACU. but i don't know wich is better.

  • when i die i want to get barried in my BDUs

  • woodland BDUs are best! It makes the army more realistic and scarier than ACU. The army should just update the uniform to have the all the pockets and velcro of the ACU uniform. NB. anyone who thinks wood BDU was a failure is an absolute idiot!

  • @Voltage247 amen to that

  • The new Digital Camoflauge uniforms are UGLY. I love BDU's, because you have to polish the boots and starch your uniform, unlike the ACU's, or ABU's, or MARPAT, ETC. the new uniform is lazy. Instead of having the most shiny boots in your squadron or entire group, you have the cleanest. What the hell is that? And to hell with velcro. You might as well say, "Here I am , you commies!" because you take your patches of and they hear it. I like buttons and doing something called UNIFORM MATINANCE.

  • @cedwards94 you don't have to starch it. becuase it will ruin the fabric and the camoflauge

  • the best dressed bdu that every came out

  • When you ask a kid to pick out a soldier, they will pick out the one in the BDU's

  • Comment removed

  • that woodland cammo was a total failure and implied the death of many soldiers (not only americans); digital cammo is the way to go.

  • WHAT HAPPEND TO THE US ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Air Force Can wear these BDU's until October 2011...thats wats up

  • Dang, my moms boyfriend had to wear OD uniforms before he got this with in these these years (1981-2008) Boy was he impressed with the design.

  • Good riddance! We had the lousy poly blend green fatiques before the BDU's but My unit (the 82nd airborne) was one of three units in the entire army to have a field uniform of ripstop nylon cammies in the woodland pattern. Quite possibly the best uniform in the army's history. We got ACU's before we deployed to Iraq. I rate them a close second.

  • When I was in the military from 1985-2006, The BDU=uniform was all they had except for DCU and Jungle uniforms. I had all three and seen some ACU uniforms comming in. I told my self it is time to step out and retire by the way. Hooah!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME VID HERE

  • Sadly, the closest uniform too this is the ABU, but it is no where near the bdu's crispness.

  • Comment removed

  • i still beleive the BDU's are better looking and everything. i'm in JROTC, but personally from experience, the ACU's just don't cut it. i like the look of the BDU's, and the comfort in them.

although, BDU's look much more vietnam, they look old school which is badass. the ACU's look much more modern/digital.

  • Comment removed

  • @blackHawkMW92 well, in my opinion, when it came to running through obstacle courses and whatnot, the BDU's just felt better to be in, but than again, standing in formation in august, in florida in black boots was just hell, but as far as the durability i guess, i was able to do much much more in the BDU.

my ACU works great too, i love the ACU too but the BDU was better in my opinion.

  • Guys, i saw some USAF personal still wearing a woodland BDU last year.. how come???

  • @chiasp0609 Air Force personel like Pararescuemen and so on who would actually go on the ground into combat still wear BDUs as far as I know. The new ABU is not really used in combat.

  • Comment removed

  • @ginjaninja1988 Yes sometimes PJs do use ABUs for combat. But most prefer the Multicam pattern for Afghanistan-like terrain because they blend in perfectly. And ABUs can get very hot in the sun.

  • @chiasp0609 USAF personnel are authorized to wear BDUs until 2011 depending on their command or station.

  • UUM I believe you ment April 30th 2006

  • Great vid Mate

I will miss the old BDU for sure, it works great in the woods while i play airsoft and i also have the new ACU and like all my friends here are saying its just not the same thing.

  • I still don't understand how bright grey (ACU) will help our troops blend into the woods. They've gone to an inferior camo from the old woodland. Good job US Army!

  • Nice vid man. Thanks

  • Man... I use a BDU for airsoft... and then when I play the guys wearing BDU's are completly invisible environment. But the guys that are wearing those 'Universal' ACU's just plain stand out and are completely visible :P

  • LOL...The choice of song cracked me up, but I completely agree with you. The BDU's were an outstanding military uniform. I'm glad I got out of the Army before they started wearing the pajama-looking rags they wear today, with the hideous beige boots. IMO, there's nothing martial about that new uniform, but who knows, maybe I'm just old-school like that. Anyway, thanks for the video!

  • @armyveteran101st

No, you're right. As a current Soldier serving, I can't tell you how much I miss how BDUs fit. The ACUs are baggy and make everyone look raggedy. It's a lazy uniform that doesn't have any appeal and motivation like the BDUs once had. The pattern is ok, but the way that uniform is cut.....might as well be maternity BDUs. The old uni had like an athletic cut which made us look sharp while these new ones don't. Did you see how those DSs looked? Poppin' starch!

  • Comment removed

  • The U.S Army should get the woodland and desert MARPAT that the U.S Marines currently use. It's so much better and it actually blends in with things.

  • aaaaahhh...back when the army was GREEN AND MEEN !!!

now it's just wannabe marines in grey pijamas

  • Comment removed

  • cheapness will prevail.

  • @akaRicepickeR true, but even so, the BDU was one good looking sqared away uniform. i think it looks more squared away than the new digitals.

  • I like ACU camp best

  • Westside Highschool. In about 3 years. I would be in the army or USMC

  • 0:40

The guy holding the canteen looks like Sweetwater from Battlefield Bad Company.

  • it sucks that the us military no longer use the uniform because it's like throwing out tradition :(

  • same here celdricalien...... :(

  • Loved that. Just got mine for JROTC. I still say it is better than an ACU.

  • @ila6435 what unit?

  • Dam, this video makes me sad. I remember growing, seeing troops in this uniform crisp and clean looking. I just joined CAP, and have to wear it. I love it. I own ACU, but it isn't nearly has sharp.

  • memory's...

  • the BDU that we grew up seeing.

  • @cedricalien

The bdu.....the uniform of a better time.(80s-90s ftw) the 2000s dont count because to put it roughly ....the new millinum just sucks bawls

  • lol I don't know if I should laugh or cry!! O_o

  • Orrrr they could go back to the BDU and Desert variant. (DCU)

  • ACU doesn't blend in for shit. Bdu could actually outperform the digital crap. (minus MARPAT) the only good one Is marpat. Marpat is basically an updated BDU for the marines. Army should either share marpat with the marines and wear black boots with it instead of tan, or go Multicam. Honestly, I respect the ACU as an American uniform worn by our Soldiers, but for use in the field, ACU's just won't cut it.

  • @Soldier1287

    Agreed.

    MARPAT > ACU

Have you heard about the new multicam the army is testing?

  • @Soldier1287 I forget the name of it but the Army was issuing a type of cammo to soldiers in Afghanistan. It looks like a mix between digital and the old woodland. I personally like Marpat the best, thats another reason why im joining the marines and not the army.

  • Comment removed

  • @ArmyRanger10 multicam?

  • @Soldier1287 They are switching troops into Multicam for the Afghanistan terrain,it blends in way better than the ACUs. There are 3 new patterns for the Navy: The Type 1 NWUs also called "aquaflage" for its blue pattern but is not meant for camouflage,it is replacing the "dungarees" and others but not the BDUs or DCUs. The Type 2 which looks like an updated version of the desert Marpat and is only authorized for the elite Navy SEALs. And the Type 3 which is looks like an updated Woodland Marpat

  • @Soldier1287 Agreed, but i don't agree with copying the Marines, i personally love the Corps and would hate to see the Army copy their patterns. the Marine Corps changed its Camo's for several reasons, one was to define them self father apart from the Army, so when you see them on the street its not a "is that a soldier or a Marine?" its a "that's a soldier" and "that's a Marine"

  • @snowboardersrule true true

  • Acu sucks sucks sucks. Bdu 4 ever!

  • well the difference between BDU and ACU is ACU is digital camo and BDU is not digital camo. Personally I prefer the ACU. And ACU is better in hiding especially for sniper.

  • I think you have a better chance not being seen while closer to the enemy in these rather than acu but I could be wrong..?

  • wait, they dont use the BDU anymore?

  • yes.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! lol

    I hate ACU

  • atleast the mexican army still use them...

  • not for a few years. The only Branches taht still use it are the Air Force(for about 1 more year and then its gone) and the Navy( but its pretty much gone too)

  • No, the Air Force and Navy have their own camo patterns now.

  • @xXSgtWolfXx re read my comment. Yes the Air Force and Navy still use BDUs, but they will be completely phased out probably by the end of the year

  • Nope, they use the ACU

  • Woodland BDU's work better than the current ACU against vegetation. Why couldn't they stick witht the same color scheme but use a digital pattern? And anyway digital paterns don't work as well as traditional woodland camo. Crye Multicam blends into almost ANY surface better than ACU as well.

  • my mom still has hers from when she was in the army

  • Comment removed

  • hell i still use woodland for airsofting

  • i use bdu camo in my woods theyre great for hideing

  • it was good 2 ahve you with us woodland BDU R.I.P

  • R.I.P Woodland BDU. May your legacy still live on with many partisans, guerrillas, and secondary armies throughout the globe. ;(

  • plus the woodland camo is very popular in the fashion world.

  • the navy MA still uses them. But rumors are that navy will rid them as well by december 2010

  • Comment removed

  • how?

  • Comment removed

  • it's proven to be more acurate than the acu pattern. that's what people say

  • i dont think theres alot of point being perfectly camoed in this day and age. with infra red and thermal imaging being used theres hardly any point. and half the reason why the us army chose such a different pattern is so that they can be identified as "a force to be reconed with" so that people run away as soon as they see the pattern lol

  • so why people fear that pattern?

  • because obviously they are so scared of the US military that when they see the uniform they think "shit! that means americans! run and surrender!" although it hasnt worked

  • Comment removed

  • yeah but its camoflaging properties were crap which is why it was in the fashion industry a great deal.

  • so your trying to say that the m81 woodland camo doesn't work in any woodland enviorment?

  • well it looks like a cartoon. its not a very good pattern for anything really, far too dark. if you compare it to DPM you soon see how bad it is.

  • You are right. The ACU's do not last very long and are harder to clean and do not look sharp. Many State Defense Forces(also known as State Guard,State Military Reserves). still wear them. The TAG of each state approves what uniforms will be worn by these Title 32 troops.

  • we needed to change the uniforms every army in world military wear them..

  • what is the material of the BDUs used in the military?

  • Comment removed

  • rele?

  • Comment removed

  • the newer acu's are better really but it sucks that its unauthorized to wear these anymore

  • i hate the acu. cant wait for the multicam

  • if i am general, you could wear it anytime:D

  • I'm in the Navy and we still wear BDU's.

  • lol what happen to1990's desert chip camo was the best

  • some other countries use it..

  • Comment removed

  • one of my earliest memories was my dad picking me up from daycare in woodlands. now we both wear ACU's-- not a fan of the sleeves down thing.

  • I can't belive the army waisted millions of dollars on R&D just to update the army's image.

The BDU serves fine, it still keeps a satisfactory level of quality and comfort.

The BDU may of been really warm in certain conditions but the ACU was introduced far too early.

  • weird i was born in 1981 and i use that bdu on 1999 when i went to basic. Got few pairs in case they dont produce it anymore. Also the digital woodland work good for my hunting trips.

  • Gonna buy a pair of those im Swedish camo:D

  • The Air Force still use Woodland BDU's

  • so is the navy if theyre not attached to a Marine unit

  • Comment removed

  • digital camo is a joke. the bdu is more aggressive looking and combat-like

  • I don't think so, I think the ACU is more intimidating than the BDU. Now days you see 12 year olds wearing BDU jackets and pants..It was losing it's respect.

  • im a norweigan soldier we use the m98 camo and its like the bdu woodland uniform we dont use the acu

  • Comment removed

  • Rest In Peace.

P.S. You will not be forgotten, my fellow airsofters and I still wear you. I hope you can hear this, pa.

  • for some reason this is kinda sad...i felt sorry until i thought....this is about camo...wtf( wiping tear away)......lol

the woodland camo will come back once we have a war in a woodland enviroment

  • for what example?

  • trees..swamp areas...woods

  • Comment removed

  • *sigh*

Back when you could blend into the environment...

Now our armed services stick out like a sore thumb. (Minus MARPAT of course)

  • i love the bdu's it so much i bought one. and when i put it on and look in the mirror,i start to tear up a little bit. remembering a once great, badass uniform.

  • omg i loved my bdu's! nice & starched with my shined jungle boots!!! acu's suck! made cheaply! soldiers these days have no idea on what it means to stand tall & look good

  • Comment removed

  • well, today they use that as a fashion statement because it is use now by the civilians

  • :36 the guy on the right looks like private joker.

  • fuck the ACU velcro is loud as shit. the BDU looks badass. i miss it. ive got so many memory's.

  • im glad the navy's still hanging on to the BDU's for a bit more, I love my BDU's!

  • i know there my favorite but the navy is getting a new camo anyways its the same as wodland but its acu color

  • I miss them. But the Digitalized ACU's are so badass. I just got promoted to Corporal last week so I've had my share of memories with the BDU's.

  • Air Force stilluses it.

  • no the use an acu type called tiger striped but with a acu color

  • Comment removed

  • whats better marpat or woodland

  • depends on the situation

  • The BDU is easier to distinquish, it stands out more and looks a lot more oblivious.

I don't know why the military didn't incorparate any of the essentials to the BDU Uniform!

The BDU's terrain darker tone looks more professional in my opinion!

  • BDU's are the BEST!:-D

  • I miss that uniform a whole hellovalot. I don't care if I have press and iron my uniform. I also dont care if I have to shine my boots either. I want my old uniform back!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey the Navy still wears them, they aren't getting phased out until next year

  • these BDUs are such an awesome piece of history amazing vid 5/5 ill really miss these

  • I'm glad that the air force will keep using the BDU's for a few years yet, at least until they finally figure out the ABU. Hopefully they fix it, from what I've heard the new ABU's are extremely hot to wear right now.

  • Personally i prefer the BDU over any other utility uniform!

  • me too:P
