I don't dislike Firebrand, but personally I think the main reason they included him was so Capcom could have more villains on their team. Let's face it, outside of M. Bison, there aren't really a lot of other Capcom villains that would work in a game like this, let alone ones that would still look good standing next to Doom and his villain team.
@KHBAM I dunno, not sure if they're counting him on the villain's team or not. Bear in mind that Firebrand is always aligned with Astaroth and the demon world, so unless he is also assumed to be working with the other villains, he'd probably be more likely to fight against Galactus so that his dimension isn't destroyed along with rest of the Capcom universe. Then again, maybe I'm trying to apply too much logic to the game's excuse plot.
@tacoman422 I think the reason people question whether Firebrand counts as a villain or not is because not only was he the hero in his own spin-off series, but he is seen as a hero in the eyes of his people, the Red Arremers. But keep in mind, Super-Skrull is also viewed as a hero in the eyes of his people, and yet he is clearly a villain to Earth. It may be a matter of perception, but considering Firebrand is likely still working for Astaroth, I think It'd be safe to call him a villain.
@KHBAM I'm aware of that. My point was that since he always works for Astaroth, it would seem unlikely for him to work for any other villain, unless he were doing so at Astaroth's behest.
@tacoman422 That would be an interesting idea if it turns out Astaroth (for some reason) allied himself with Wesker, Vergil, and Akuma, and that Firebrand was acting as a representative of sorts.
@KHBAM Nice points there, but take account that in Gargoyle's Quest he serves King Darkoan, in Gargoyle's quest II is King Morock and in Demon's Crest he is not a hero nor villain, just a freelancer picking up fights. Based on this, he is just his own boss nowadays.
they should have added all his forms from Demon's Crest (one of my FAVORITE gaes on the NES) it would have made good for his ultra combos, or just like special attacks, orhave a move where you can switch forms (make for awesome combos)
this is a lame firebrand......i loved the gargoyle quest and demons crest games and they fucked him in this game......none of the same powers except the fire ball........fuck this game!!!
I can imagine how many people don't wanna get beaten by Firebrand, he will laugh in the face of your defeat "Awwh-Ga-Ga-Ga-Ga-Ga, To be honest I think he stoled Pop-Eyes the Sailor man laugh.
@mutalord I know! that's my favorite firebrand. as well as being the favorite appearance of fire brand for most people who have played demon's crest and got past a few stages... plus, he could really have his own play style if he had button combos to swap elements... but, that would wind up with more to program in. different skins, models, attacks, combos etc all changing at once. it would still be awesome tho. plus, imagine combos using the spells and bosses from the game!
That's cool... start doing a game, don't finish it, sell it, and then make people pay for the price of another game in DLCs, and after that people will pay again for this complete version (maybe). Comparing this game to others with higher production cost, this game really deceive the consumers... just a thought, get your own conclusions...
I assume this will be a DLC if you think about it on capcom's perspective. I mean, for super street fighters 4 you could just download the arcade edition for 15 bucks. Yes pricey but fair enough for those who already bought the super original. Same could be said for Resident Evil 5 and their Golden Edition. Already bought it? just download the bonuses seperately from the extra stories to the costumes for The Mercenaries Reunion. Still i would agree with Antikukafe
People are complaining about DLC characters, and how it is cheaper to buy the new game, but $40 is still a considerable amount of money, especially when SSF4 was cheaper, and then SSF4:AE came after that, and then SSF4:AE for the PC.

i wish it would be like this you bring your copy of MVC3 and u can get ur copy of UMVC3 for free instead of paying 40bucks for a game that you bought but the orginal copy was a beta
everyone whose a gamer or into technology to never buy the first generation of anything. they will always come with a squeal that will always surpass the original. especially if it's the first time they've done something in a game.
for instance Assassins creed brotherhood and dead space 2. the online... not so good.
@Antikukafe But the original MvC3 was lacking in so much content that most of this should have been there from the get-go. Sure, perhaps the content would equate to about as much of a full game, but many people, like myself, felt that they got cheated with the extremely lackluster content of the first game, and the fact that we now have to repurchase a full-priced game just to rectify that is disappointing.
I respect that, but if you trade in mvc3 for umvc3 it will probably take off 5-15$ so that 35-25$ game.
All the arguments i hear the the ignorant ones about how the game is a ripoff, but personally, i feel like the only valid argument is that, they told us there would be all these great features in the game, and we all waited for this wonderful patch that would make this B-A game an A-A+ game but then it never came. Now you have to go out and get what you were promised ages ago, again.
@Antikukafe I agree that many people are being very ignorant about it. I just wish that I wouldn't have to blow anything more than 15-20 bucks on a new game that this should have been in the first place. They kept promising this super-wonderful game that would best MvC2, and then we got it, and... It just wasn't the A++ game they were making it seem like.
Oh well. At least I'll be able to poke people in the eyes and yell OBJECTION with this one.
@Antikukafe You're assuming that everybody cares about ALL 12 characters. I, personally only would have bought Phoenix Wrist, Frank West, and Strider as DLC. At 5$ each, i would be spending a total of 75$, including the 60$ i already paid.
Instead, i ended up paying 60$ for a beta, and now Capcom expects me to pay another 40$ for a game in which i hate 75% of the new characters, and has a few new modes that should have been in the original game to begin with. That totals 100$.
@QJD1381 well the new game has spectating mode and an option to record your own matches as well as a better matchmaking online system. have fun with ur broken game then
@Antikukafe Upgrading to the Ultimate version of the game OBVIOUSLY wouldn't be $5 per character. Capcom can make some pretty bad decisions but they wouldn't be THAT stupid. It would cost more than the game itself which would be just plain dumb. And it's not "a 70$ game for 40$" if it's a game that was already released.
Actually, Assume that all characters that came in the game to begin with were that price, that doesn't add up.
MvC3 had 40 characters. Assume that the stages, music ,and the modes were not free, let's say the characters are 2/3's the price, 1$ per. now we have 12. That's.... 12$. Assume the new features, that SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE ORIGINALLY are 3$, That's. 15$. Now if I remember correctly, Isn't there an option for a 15$ game on xbox live? 1200 MS points? YYyep. So, YOU shut up.
@sonic06isawesome Rebalancing patch =/= New moves and specials for characters. Do you know how much memory that would take for a DLC? You're not paying for the patching or the spectator mode, you are paying for new moves and characters.
So go and play your vanilla MvC3 if you cannot honestly believe people would pay for new additions to a fighter that are worth the money being spent, or go and buy it like every Street Fighter fan has been doing since two decades. Nothing is going to change.
Huh, wow! Putting words in my mouth I see. First, I didn't even buy Vanilla MvC3 (To be honest, I didn't really like the game in the first place as much as others in the vs. series.) 2nd, I also have been paying for new additions since 1996 with SFA, SF3, CvS, and Marvel vs Capcom Crossovers.
Back then, I feel we got our money's worth and it was a while before they released a new version, but now they're doing 2 in a year and they're not giving us characters that we wanted.
@sonic06isawesome Oh, I didn't see your thing on the characters. Mistake on my part. But as you originally said, some of us like the characters chosen. I'm a fan of every character chosen except Strider but the way I see it is they're trying to promote for Marvel and listen to fans for Capcom as well as make good movesets. The only two Capcom characters not requested were Firebrand and Nemesis, and they look to be shocker inclusions like SonSon and Hayato.
@sonic06isawesome What I am hoping for is that they do DLC eventually for those who don't want everything, but keep it as being $5 per character, so UMVC3 is like a combo deal. And UMVC3 would retain its new moves and have an option to use the new characters in MVC3, much like SSFIV AE. If this happened, it would be a decent solution, and regain trust from those who dislike the disc version; Sales would divide between DLC and disc but most likely be rewarding.
Capcom said it themselves - there are too many changes to make as DLC. Not easily, anyway. If I recall, buyers of the original MvC3 WILL get bonuses in UMvC3, so it's not like you're wasting all your money.
@willieg54 Blame the earthquake and tsunami for fucking the customers over, much of this was planned and being worked on before the disaster. It's also going to be sold cheaper than the first version.
@GoGojiraGo Ignoring the fact they're offices weren't as close to the earthquakes as they're exaggerating it to be, what was the natural disaster that prompted them to release Super and Arcade Edition?
@neon6 Maybe they were helping with the cleanup and rebuilding, like the good human beings they are and not the demons you apparently want them to be. And after looking at some articles that all say "rumors" and have info, it appears they're talking about Ultimate MvsC3. So no, they're not making 3 more versions. Sorry to disappoint, must be hard on your righteous fury.
@GoGojiraGo "Maybe"? You're not sure whether they were or not are you? That's called speculation. When I say Super/AE I'm referring to the SF4 (what exactly did you think I was talking about?) Is MVC3 your first fighting game or something? Man, you really ought to do something about those extra chromosomes of yours cause the way I see it, they're not doing you any justice.
@neon6 Well, since you never SAID SF4, I thought you were referring to UMvC3. I'm not a mind reader, maybe you could actually communicate instead of rabble-rabble.
@GoGojiraGo You didn't really answer my question. They're blaming the disaster for forcing them to rerelease the game even though they've only done this with SF in the past. They said they were going to support the game through DLC which is just what they did for SSF4 by releasing AE both at retail and as a add-on. In a way, the earthquakes worked in their favor by giving them the perfect excuse to go back on their word.
@neon6 I mean they get to blame God for forcing them to make a conscious business decision to recuperate their losses because the original game only sold 1/3 as they expected. Which is pretty amazing in a way. You could just imagine what someone could do if they were able to predict such events and get as lucky as they did.
@KingofSarus@KingofSarus You know how if you pick Yang's taunt 9 and mash repeatably it looks like he's doing a downer jump? Or how they said AE would be the last of the series even though they said the exact same thing for vanilla and super? I don't know think anyone knows their fanbase better than Capcom does.
@Antikukafe And yet AE was released as DLC for $15. Which is funny because this would've been the 1st time this generation that they were going to support a fighting game through DLC rather than re releasing on a yearly basis contrary to what they've done with SF (which is exactly what they said they would do). But if you're going to tell everyone to shut the fuck up, you might as well wear a sign that says "imad".
why does everyone fucking whine about having to buy the new one you guys should have known this was coming. also its partly marvels fault 2 so dont just blame capcom and its being sold at a smaller price so stop your bitching and get over it grow some balls and enjoy the fucking game
if you didn't see this coming there is something wrong with you. Yeah, I was mad when I first heard this, I thought unlike street fighter MVC3 was untouchable when it came to this. But getting mad at capcom for this is stupid. The game in itself is $40 instead of $60, trade in your current copy add in like what, $20? then you got it, no big deal.
This kind of stuff happens with fighting game franchises a lot, and with Capcom in particular, just look at Street Fighter. If you guys really want to see this kind stuff ending (endless sequels with only minor differences) then vote with your damn wallets. The only way you'll get something to change is if you STOP giving them money.
You guys do know if they made this all DLC eachc haracter would be like 5 bucks plus stages so all in all you would be paying more than the priginal cost of the 60 dollar game. So not a bad deal, yes this should all have been in the first one but al they really had to do was patch the balance issues, all this other stuff is cool extras, I just don't think it is a bad deal.
i guess some of you dont realize if they released all characters as dlc then it would cost more than $40 alltogether. its not like activision who releases the same broken game every year and charges $15 for 5 maps. i say this is a great deal
Remember people, they were going to charge $5 per DLC character, and there are 12 new ones here plus Jill and Shuma Gorath. You'll be SAVING money with this as you not only get everything from MVC3, but new characters, stages and other stuff for less than you would have to pay if they released this as DLC. And for those hating because one character isn't among the new roster, these are the characters capcom were working on before the Tsunami, others might still become available afterwards.
@Gamewitzer Quite the opposite, lot's of people still like Megaman. As to Capcom, it seems strange that a company would build it's empire on the back of three franchises, one of them being Megaman, only to throw one of them away. If demand for Megaman has dropped, it is Capcoms fault for failing to promote an excellent gaming series. How many shit games does Capcom put out with ridiculous marketing and advertising budgets? And to include a character most people don't know over Megaman? Fail.
I am not to happy about this either, but those of you saying it is costing 60$ you are wrong. They already said that the price is 40$..not 60$. So i am guessing if it cost 40$ and you go to gamestop trade in your old MvC3 you will be paying less than 40 maybe $25-30 instead of a full 40$.
@WREQUIEM Except Continuum Shift didn't come out five months after the original. It means they already had most of the UMvC3 content developed, but instead of handling it in DLC packs and patches, they've packaged it up as a full game less than half a year later. That's understandably hard for many people to swallow.
@ShagsterP meh it's felt like a year to me. i don't care if capcom makes another version, but thats me. if they have phoenix wright in it i'll buy it. I believe it will be worth it and i grew up with mvc2
@WREQUIEM "its 40 dollars for a improved version. i see nothing wrong with that. more things for fans of mvc" and that is why they are doing it.. "you already pay for the 1st game... well for $40 you can buy this really cool version that we really should have giving you in the 1st place. thanks for the 100.00 bucks :)"
@WREQUIEM that is why I am not going to give Capcom any more money... all the shit that they are putting in this one should have been in the 1st MvC3.... also what is SHADDUP that is not English sir.
@Delraven24 Capcom's a bunch of money whores, destroying the Resident Evil franchise instead of letting it die off, and now this. It's getting really annoying now.
true, but the difference with THIS is that with DLC you get the choice to buy the characters, so for people who just want to blow cash on people they don't want this is a much better deal
Final roster though? Not the best, there's maybe 4 characters I want (Strider, Phoenix Wright, Ghost Rider, and Firebrand) so in the end it'd cost only 20 for the characters I want, just wish we had the option is all
Hmmmmmm.... Spendz my moneyz on a unbalanced fighting game DLC character? or Spendz my moneyz on the new Mortal Kombat Freddy Krueger DLC? I think ill go with option 2 thank you.
Firebrand, my least hyped fighter.
turned out to be my new main.
when it comes to fighting games i am never doubting capcom again!

Characters are 5$ each usually, which would equate too 60 dollars as there will be 12 new characters.
Then add on about 10$ for all the new features such as spectating and character rebalances.
So your getting a 70$ game for 40$.

Instead, i ended up paying 60$ for a beta, and now Capcom expects me to pay another 40$ for a game in which i hate 75% of the new characters, and has a few new modes that should have been in the original game to begin with. That totals 100$.
Fuck that.
QJD1381 7 months ago
@QJD1381 well the new game has spectating mode and an option to record your own matches as well as a better matchmaking online system. have fun with ur broken game then
halaipino2371 7 months ago
@QJD1381 trade in ur broken game mvc3 for a special discount on it then :3
halaipino2371 7 months ago
@Antikukafe It should've been in the original game to begin with. But no Capcom is full of greedy bastards now.

@Antikukafe SPEAK THE TRUTH MY BROTHER !!
Solar000Knigth 7 months ago
@Antikukafe Upgrading to the Ultimate version of the game OBVIOUSLY wouldn't be $5 per character. Capcom can make some pretty bad decisions but they wouldn't be THAT stupid. It would cost more than the game itself which would be just plain dumb. And it's not "a 70$ game for 40$" if it's a game that was already released.
Kyandor 7 months ago
@Antikukafe

@roetemeteor
Jill was 5$, shuma gorath was 5$
what is going to make them stop their pattern?
Antikukafe 7 months ago
@Antikukafe Why do you bother man, let em complain, quite frankly we are better off if these people don't buy the game anyway.
hazeddon 7 months ago
@Antikukafe plus another 10$ if they add Shuma and Jill
E40HANdZ 7 months ago
@Antikukafe
A few things:
1. Some people may not want all the DLC Characters, so buying it individually will save them money.
2. Spectator mode was originally supposed to be free DLC; And since when has does it cost money to download a rebalancing patch?
Basically, some people will get their money's worth if they like ALL the new characters, and others wont.
sonic06isawesome 6 months ago 8
@sonic06isawesome Rebalancing patch =/= New moves and specials for characters. Do you know how much memory that would take for a DLC? You're not paying for the patching or the spectator mode, you are paying for new moves and characters.
So go and play your vanilla MvC3 if you cannot honestly believe people would pay for new additions to a fighter that are worth the money being spent, or go and buy it like every Street Fighter fan has been doing since two decades. Nothing is going to change.
TheAceAcetate 6 months ago
@TheAceAcetate
Back then, I feel we got our money's worth and it was a while before they released a new version, but now they're doing 2 in a year and they're not giving us characters that we wanted.
sonic06isawesome 6 months ago
@sonic06isawesome Oh, I didn't see your thing on the characters. Mistake on my part. But as you originally said, some of us like the characters chosen. I'm a fan of every character chosen except Strider but the way I see it is they're trying to promote for Marvel and listen to fans for Capcom as well as make good movesets. The only two Capcom characters not requested were Firebrand and Nemesis, and they look to be shocker inclusions like SonSon and Hayato.
TheAceAcetate 6 months ago
@sonic06isawesome What I am hoping for is that they do DLC eventually for those who don't want everything, but keep it as being $5 per character, so UMVC3 is like a combo deal. And UMVC3 would retain its new moves and have an option to use the new characters in MVC3, much like SSFIV AE. If this happened, it would be a decent solution, and regain trust from those who dislike the disc version; Sales would divide between DLC and disc but most likely be rewarding.
TheAceAcetate 6 months ago
@sonic06isawesome to even that out though 1.for tournaments it's a lot easier if all the characters are on disc and
2. Japan is not really in the dlc market capcom just wants to make them happy since there one of the biggest consumers of capcom games
finalfantasykain 4 months ago
@Antikukafe how bout they add all of them and the modes in the first game originally besides...you know... fucking their customers over?
willieg54 6 months ago
@willieg54
Capcom said it themselves - there are too many changes to make as DLC. Not easily, anyway. If I recall, buyers of the original MvC3 WILL get bonuses in UMvC3, so it's not like you're wasting all your money.
OvaNineThousand 6 months ago
@willieg54 Blame the earthquake and tsunami for fucking the customers over, much of this was planned and being worked on before the disaster. It's also going to be sold cheaper than the first version.
GoGojiraGo 6 months ago
@GoGojiraGo Ignoring the fact they're offices weren't as close to the earthquakes as they're exaggerating it to be, what was the natural disaster that prompted them to release Super and Arcade Edition?
neon6 6 months ago
@neon6 Maybe they were helping with the cleanup and rebuilding, like the good human beings they are and not the demons you apparently want them to be. And after looking at some articles that all say "rumors" and have info, it appears they're talking about Ultimate MvsC3. So no, they're not making 3 more versions. Sorry to disappoint, must be hard on your righteous fury.
GoGojiraGo 6 months ago
@GoGojiraGo "Maybe"? You're not sure whether they were or not are you? That's called speculation. When I say Super/AE I'm referring to the SF4 (what exactly did you think I was talking about?) Is MVC3 your first fighting game or something? Man, you really ought to do something about those extra chromosomes of yours cause the way I see it, they're not doing you any justice.
neon6 6 months ago
@neon6 Well, since you never SAID SF4, I thought you were referring to UMvC3. I'm not a mind reader, maybe you could actually communicate instead of rabble-rabble.
GoGojiraGo 6 months ago
@GoGojiraGo You didn't really answer my question. They're blaming the disaster for forcing them to rerelease the game even though they've only done this with SF in the past. They said they were going to support the game through DLC which is just what they did for SSF4 by releasing AE both at retail and as a add-on. In a way, the earthquakes worked in their favor by giving them the perfect excuse to go back on their word.
neon6 6 months ago
@neon6 I mean they get to blame God for forcing them to make a conscious business decision to recuperate their losses because the original game only sold 1/3 as they expected. Which is pretty amazing in a way. You could just imagine what someone could do if they were able to predict such events and get as lucky as they did.
neon6 6 months ago
@Antikukafe You and the people who gave you thumbs-ups are fuckin' idiots. @Sonic06isAwesome (a terrible name) honestly just told you what's up.
KingofSarus 6 months ago
@KingofSarus @KingofSarus You know how if you pick Yang's taunt 9 and mash repeatably it looks like he's doing a downer jump? Or how they said AE would be the last of the series even though they said the exact same thing for vanilla and super? I don't know think anyone knows their fanbase better than Capcom does.
neon6 6 months ago
@Antikukafe And yet AE was released as DLC for $15. Which is funny because this would've been the 1st time this generation that they were going to support a fighting game through DLC rather than re releasing on a yearly basis contrary to what they've done with SF (which is exactly what they said they would do). But if you're going to tell everyone to shut the fuck up, you might as well wear a sign that says "imad".

if you didn't see this coming there is something wrong with you.

So not a bad deal, yes this should all have been in the first one but al they really had to do was patch the balance issues, all this other stuff is cool extras, I just don't think it is a bad deal.

bowsicraft3 7 months ago
Remember people, they were going to charge $5 per DLC character, and there are 12 new ones here plus Jill and Shuma Gorath. You'll be SAVING money with this as you not only get everything from MVC3, but new characters, stages and other stuff for less than you would have to pay if they released this as DLC. And for those hating because one character isn't among the new roster, these are the characters capcom were working on before the Tsunami, others might still become available afterwards.

ChiWehWeh 7 months ago
@ChiWehWeh
Nobody gives a shit about Mega Man anymore, especially not Capcom.
Gamewitzer 7 months ago

So i am guessing if it cost 40$ and you go to gamestop trade in your old MvC3 you will be paying less than 40 maybe $25-30 instead of a full 40$.

it's like Blazblue CS
WREQUIEM 7 months ago
@WREQUIEM Except Continuum Shift didn't come out five months after the original. It means they already had most of the UMvC3 content developed, but instead of handling it in DLC packs and patches, they've packaged it up as a full game less than half a year later. That's understandably hard for many people to swallow.

true, but the difference with THIS is that with DLC you get the choice to buy the characters, so for people who just want to blow cash on people they don't want this is a much better deal
Final roster though? Not the best, there's maybe 4 characters I want (Strider, Phoenix Wright, Ghost Rider, and Firebrand) so in the end it'd cost only 20 for the characters I want, just wish we had the option is all
