  • I need to upgrade my e bike to how can I do that I have trails bike 2008

  • I just shit my pants. A putrid rectal mudslide down my leg. :-)

  • 43 kph

  • Please write to me personally - harry@everhart.com - about this conversion.

  • You cannot run 36 volt batteries on most 2008 and all 2009 ezips. The controller limits you to 24-30 volts.

  • what is the range on this battery pack? I'm considering Ezip instead of building one from a kit. Thanks

  • I've changed rear sprocket to 16 teeth and use 36V battery and get 40km/h max.

  • walmart is selling the bike for $150 in morgantown, pa. but it doesn't have the battery. Call ezip and there sell you one for $69 plus shipping.

  • if i bought this bike is there a bigger chance of it be stolen. when i go to school and back. i play football like till 5

  • After reading some of the posts, it seems clear that the advanced battery will still work fine as long as maximum speed is only used as a type of 'getaway' emergency speed, otherwise, going 15 mph will still get you there, with enough power for a return trip. Doh!

  • Just 36v can fry the motor so 48v will fry it very fast. Enjoy the speed while it lasts cause it won't last long.

  • Using 36v with the Currie 24v motor will cause the motor to overheat if you ride for too long.

  • @MrAfroSheen

To overcome this, would getting a 36v motor help with the overheat problems? also would an upgraded controller be needed?

  • o and does it have to be a special battery?

  • yeah just wonderin so i definetly know if i shuld buy it

  • wait so i can just buy a 36v battery and it goes 28 mph?

  • How long do the brakes last?

  • cool

  • you mean without pedaling. lol

  • i saw you pedaling dude. Lol

  • Try to peddle a bike like this to 27mph not going to happen. Even while doing 27mph I was unable to get to 29mph.

    24v battery = 18mph

    36v battery = 27mph

    It's not rocket science.

  • i dont even know why i wrote that comment. anyway who cares as long as where having fun. ive become addicted to ebikes. How bout u?

  • I've managed that - on a gt aggressor xc3 MTB.... but obviously not for too long - top speed human power only was 32.2 mph

  • @EcoForumZ hmmm once you reach 40km/h you hit wind barrier and than need twice the power to over come that. Same with cars.

  • So where's the 36v modification video?

  • See my other videos.

  • @EcoForumZ

So basically, if I were to buy a larger voltage battery it'd increase the overall speed of the bike? Is there a speed limiter or controller on the ezip - cause I'm afraid to make the investment and be limited to the factory default speed. I look forward to your response.

  • @EcoForumZ can you please just paste the exact URL on here so we can find it?

I just impulse bought a 2009 Ezip Trailz in gray from Toys 'R' Us yesterday. Retail was $500 and it was marked down to $300 because it was the last one. I wheeled and dealed and took it off their hands for only $250. A great buy! I'm excited to try it out today!

  • did you have any problems when adding the battery on the bike? i have a 24v LiFePO4 battery but if i twist the throttle more than 1/10 the way, the bike turns off. did you have any problems like this?

  • so basically u're using a 36v battery with a 42v controller?

what does "tests at 42v" mean?

  • how fast does a 36v go

  • I just got an ezip and Currie gives you the option of ordering a 36v battery.

  • What's strange about the 2008 trailz is that Currie moved the controller and battery switch to the rear of the bike out of reach of rider. Mine is behind seat post under seat, switchable while riding. Why would they do this?

  • I have this bike (see my video). For the price, it's a great bike. I paid only $150 for mine on clearance but the avg. retail is $400, which is still the cheapest e-bike on the planet. Only drawback is the loudness of the Currie motor. I use it daily. Avg. speed on flat is 15-17mph (with 200 lb. rider), so your mod did add around 10 mph to it. Good if you really need that much speed.

  • Where did you get it for $150?

  • Wal-mart. I've seen it lately on amazon for $324 with free shipping.

  • You can get the bike at walmart now for $298 if your walmart doesn't have it order it online and pick it up at your store for free no shipping fees. By far the best money you will ever spend. These bikes are awesome.

  • My local walmart has two bikes right now but they are $398 not $298.

  • That's pretty fast. What kind of range are you getting with the mod?

  • fast but noisy bike :-(

  • I just uploaded a video on how to do this modification. look in my videos to view it.

  • what is the cost of the ebike and the cost of the mod ?

  • i'm excited on the mod video Im really interested in buyin this bike
