This made me cry. 1SG Saenz always told me to get back in law enforcement. I was not from his unit, but we were together from calif to Ft Bragg. Great Guy, Greater Leader.
Nice job. We loved your dad. It was an honor to serve with him. I met him at Ft. Jackson and trained with him after that. We think of him all the time.
I never met you, and I never served along side you 1st Sgt, but a shot of whiskey, a shot of vodka, and a glass of white wine- symbols of purity strenght and ego, I drink in your honor. Brothers in battle brothers in the heart.
The soldier Carlos is standing with at 00:54 was my brother Fred, who died in 1986. Fred always spoke fondly of Carlos, and considered him his closest friend. Juan, I am sorry for your loss. From what my brother told me, I know Carlos was a man of the highest character. God Bless you and your family.
Juan and family. This is a wonderful tribute to a great man, soldier, father, husband and family member. I miss him and think of him daily. The music was very appropriate for a hero like he was. He will live on in all of us who knew him and I know I will be a better man from being his friend. Please contact me. I have more to share
Wow! As I'm choking back tears, I just happened to stumble upon this video, by typing in Carlos' name, and found this. It was so good to hear his voice, as the last time I heard it was days before his death. I served with Carlos from Fort Jackson to Iraq. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. God Bless you and your mom. I know he was buried at Arlington, as we were processing out of Fort Bragg, I surely hoped that we could have been to his funeral, but couldn't.
I had the honor of meeting Carlos as my unit came in to replace his. I had the chance to go out on several patrols with him and see how brave he really was. On one foot patrol he lead the way with his M4 in one hand and the map in the other, showing absolutely no fear. I only knew him for a few weeks, but I think of him often, and will always have great admiration and respect for the way he conducted himself as a Soldier and friend.
Outstanding Tribute. 1SG Saenz would be proud of you.
