  • Wow , Ireland so beautiful . I think there is the most natural beautiful country in the Europe . Wish can go there someday . Im from SouthEast Asia :D anywy , Jethro Tull the best rock band !

  • It is escapism at it"s best.

  • BRILLIANT is quite correct .

  • from glen to glen, beautiful all the way

  • @GodOfOurSalvation you to

  • One of my favorite tunes from one of my favorite bands of all time along with Steely Dan, the Beatles, and the Police. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • Saw Tull in 77 right after this album came out.

  • Most teenagers think this is 'gay'... BAH! Wadda they know?

  • @jameswalker199 they dont know shit hahhaha

  • @jameswalker199 Im a teenager and I think this is brilliant.

  • yessss

  • seeing these guys in april XD

  • I think this song comes from the heart of the man.

  • My brother told me something that left me dumbfounded......Ian Anderson composed these complex beauties entirely from his head and told the band members what he wanted.......now that's pure GENIUS......period

  • one word for Songs from the Wood -- compelling.

  • Ian Anderson incorporates his Celtic heritage very nicely into rock 'n' roll.

  • This album is ridiculously good... one of the best albums in rock history! haha

  • @TheStryper777 Absolutely yesss.

  • Ian Anderson is from Scotland, but the band sounds very English, Imho. One bic lighter of 10,000 for a sold out Jethro Tull concert Mmmmm?

  • You are so right!

  • Yeah but hey Jethro Tull is from the UK not Ireland or Scotland or Wales

  • @DShaw42011 Ireland, Scotland and Wales are all in the UK...

  • @thegrudge Ireland? In the UK? Better check your history book, my friend. It seems to be 90 years out of date.

  • @EyeLean5280 sure it is...one of the two countries of the island of Ireland is in the UK. Recheck your history book.

  • man the memories! I had the 8-track and it was green!

  • i am from irish descent, my family immigrated to america during the potato famine to missouri then yakima, wa in1901, still growing golden delicious apples and cattle, but my roots are from protestant ireland, and i love jethro tull, i have seen them in concert 15 times, memphis, seattle, irvine, ca, san fransisco, la, eta. tull and ian anderson rocks

  • Bellissima tra le mie preferite dei Jethro Tull

  • Pictures are from Scotland ..NOT Ireland

  • @JabbaY2K you mean the few pics in the video? They are from Ireland. I took some of them, my father took the others

  • @Aqualung1989 Fantastic song!--Beautiful vid. thanks.

  • @JabbaY2K

Yeah, sure from Ireland - the first is from the Gap Of Dunloe. I took the very same picture when I was there two years ago! (German tourist)

  • @JabbaY2K BURNED!!

  • In my humble opinion, this is not only the best Jethro Tull album, but it's simply one of the best albums...ever. EVERY song is masterfully crafted and flawlessly played. It's mystical, romantic and it ROCKS!

  • listening to this baked is so fucking awesome;)

  • 3 people must love concrete jungles

  • il n'y a quasiment aucune chanson de Jethro Tull que je n'aime pas.

  • This is so "Gentle-Giantish"! Why is it I haven't heard that before?

  • nice to see just how much works like these are appreciated... there may be hope for us yet.

  • this music is complex ...progressive ...hard to appreciate

  • Ian's definitely a poet, whether he likes it or not!

  • serbia.,., i'm from here

  • I can remember driving back from the West Farms Mall in CT 33 years ago (!). My buddy Jim Evans said, "Let me play this for you" and popped this song in the casette player. A wave of lush, soaring music washed over me. I'd never heard anything like it. That voice, the arrangement, the flute. Rock music that was orchestrally, celtically gorgeous, There was no turning back! My intro to JTull.

  • Yes, thankyou Aqualung! This takes me back to when I was living in England...and this album came out about that time...we listened to it ALL THE TIME! Great stuff and thanks for the clip.

  • More British Isles, more Complex musically, more mood setting than most mid-tempo rock tunes of these times. Completely Unique no matter what!

  • One of the first Tull albums that I listened to back fifteen yrs ago along with This was and Aqualung! Classic masterpiece of best quality!

  • i love jethro tull!!!!!!!!!!!!! im going to his concert in june!!! i cant wait!!! and this is defenitly my favourite album by him and i love every song on it, which is sorta hard for an album to accomplish....

  • They show everyone what rock & roll is really about, I'm a huge fan!

  • amo jt

  • I saw Ian Anderson in concert last night. It was excellent!!

  • Definitely awesome!

However... songs from the wood DO make you feel much better. :D

  • i heard this record for the first time when i was 12 years and have been in love with it for 33 years.

  • my dad gave me his songs from thw wood LP 4 years ago when i was 17. I never looked back since, amazing.

  • excelent combination ireland is a very old country which suites the song.

  • Wonderful video !

  • makes me wanna go to Ireland!

  • prolly said it b4 but thanks for all your Tull uploads. it has exposed to their vast library of GREAT music. beyond what the classic rock stations play. kudos and bravo

  • This album has been by default in my car.

  • IRELAND!!! I'm from there.

  • @MASAI97 well I'm going there the 15th of August, I can't wait!!

  • @Aqualung1989 My daughter and her husband are 2 wks. behind you, you lucky folks!

  • @MASAI97 lucky you :)

  • @MASAI97 So am I! What part are you from? Im from Dublin.

  • @davidhock078 Sligo dude

  • nice . very nice . Jethro Tull is very uniqe and I've like his music for about 30 years now . thanks.

  • One of my favorite Tull songs of all time! Ian, we love ya!

  • awful drums

  • @grubor1962 dude shut the hell up out of all the songs ive ever learned on the drums this is up there in some of the hardest. the tuning of the drums is great and the drumming is awesome don't put down other drummers on youtube just to make yourself feel better because it just shows how bad/ insecure you are.

  • @imAdam560 I'm glad you brought out the excellence of the drum tuning. Most persons don't even know that they must do that.

I think one of the main reasons that JT is so incredible is that they have perfect pitch. Well, at least as close as a group can. Their meter is dead on as well.

  • My favorite JT album

  • Simply one of the best things in life to listen to this album (through my iPod, of course!) whilst wandering in my muddy boots along beck and dale of Middle Earth.

  • A MAGICAL MASTERPIECE! (nuff said.)

  • Loved this song and the whole album from the first time I bought it. Thanks for posting it up. It's brought back some priceless memories of my well-spent youth.

  • this album is really growing on me....GOOD STUFF!

  • I really must be getting to bed but I can't stop listening...

  • always a pleasure to hear jethro tull!!!!

  • I bought this in 1977, when I was 15...ran out and got it after hearing it for the first time

  • Always a complete original. Stick this with "Velvet Green" and you've made musical history!! (-:

  • Hands down my favorite album by Tull. Compelling instrumentation, thematically perfect, lyrically rich. Thunder and lightning - rock at its best. Naturally it didn't get enough airplay - and the songs that did get play were not the best on the album.

    Thanks Aqualung.

  • LOL, yeah. If Aqualung wasn't catchy, no one would ever listen to it. The lyrics are... =|

Anyway, love this song, and the album is tied with the Jethro Tull Christmas Album for my favorite of theirs'.

That's just a compilation though, so I guess this wins.

  • Better then Thick as a Brick?

  • Anyways, yeah it is a pretty damn fine effort.

  • @beckett5353 the only one i ever heard off this on the radio was "the whistler" - one of my favorites also , but i think i'd go with benefit in a pinch

  • 0:26 Sheep!

  • Fenomenale...tra le migliori canzoni dei mitici Jethro Tull

  • excelent,excelente,magnifico,

jamais existirá banda parecida com essa que uniu traços populares celtas, masi clássicos e mesclou-os com rock.

    entenderam???

    eu entendi.

  • the heal the wound and still the pain

that threatens again and again ...

  • Autumn chill and the forrest forever..

Going to be in front row in Wallingford, Connecticut for Ian's next gig in October...he's the best!

  • finnish progressive rock/metal band made album named:' lauluja metsästä', wich means songs from the wood, wonder what is their fav band...

  • @qbbbq I think Jarkko Martikainen has menchioned once or twice that he likes Jethro.

  • @qbbbq Joo ja montakohan kertaa YUP:ta on sanottu Suomen Jethro Tulliksi... ;)

  • Adore this Album but could you please put on line the last song. I cannot get access to it any longer but it was a love song about Ian being by the fire and contemplating how much he loved his wife. I know I am asking for something I cannot give myself but it means so much to me. Bless you anyway for posting as you have. Am really back on the 1970's thank's to you (and that is good). Ta x

  • JRBwithME, you mean Fire At Midnight? I posted it some months ago, just look for it in my channel, you can also look for it in my playlists. If I'm mistaken please tell me what song you're talking about :P

  • I love this song and the whole album. It really is one of their absolute best. In fact, this is the favorite Tull song of my Dad, another huge JT fan like us.

  • @PinkFloydManiac1973 Yes, I,m totally agree, great album.

  • @Aqualung1989 Fire @ Midnight is correct.

  • @JRBwithME the cd is now only £5.00 on play.com! This album is a must have, you need to buy it! lol

  • @JRBwithME You can download it on Bit Torrent!

  • my favourite album ....still!

  • is this not supposed to be Ian Anderson's farewell, when I bought the album, there was no mention of Jethrol Tull , but was anounced as his departing and was introduced as Ian Anderson

  • cant wait to see them at moseley folk festival 6/9/09!!! thought id missed my chance to see this awesome band as they are before my time..... now im chuffed!!

  • Been following TULL since 1971, and I must say that this has to be one of the best, (if not the best) bands when playing live. Is it TULL or is it Memorex?

Very tight band. Thanks for the post.

  • where are these pics from?

  • Ireland. If you have a look at two of my videos (Dun Ringill and Glen Orchy), you'll see lots more

  • @Aqualung1989 - 'Songs from the Cnoc' then? ...lol

  • @Aqualung1989 And Emotionally Fine They are!

  • This album along with Steely Dan's Royal Scam were good friends while I was stationed in Germany during the 70's.

  • the pictures was okay then eye was watching the allbum cover but the MUSICK he is so grand a thing

  • The drugs were ok too! Bit like a sacrament.

  • ...I thought Jethro Tull joked that the reason their songs were so weird was because they DIDN'T do drugs?

  • Maybe they didn`t. However, I seem to remember that I did!

  • poor spirit

  • Fabulous...I`m old enough to remember the gorgeous, often dreamy feel those days had for the young. Nope, wasn`t anything to do with drugs, either...;)

  • yessum

  • There was a review of this album when it came out 30 years ago in Stereo Review..the reviewer called it "haughty"..I thought it was a higly creative setting of medieval England within popular music, in terms of instruments and most definitely lyrically..the innuendos of the 70s almost matched the medieval days when 35-40 was the typical lifespan and occasions for joy and pleasure few but deeply treasured (pun intended)..Tull is among the most challenging music to play on guitar..try it & see..

  • hell try getting the flute done even.

  • they absolutely did this well live-they are true artists

  • this isnt live..but so what.i saw this live several times throughout the 90's ..superb..

  • I bet they didn't do this well live!

  • How much are you willing to lose? I saw this tour LIVE. It was an EXPERIENCE (which every Tull concert is...). Ian performed this much better than the studio version as the sound system had wonderful CLARITY. The mixing was amongst the best I had head.

I believe that I saw this tour at Celebrity Theatre in the Round in Tempe, AZ in 1979 but it might have been the Sports Arena which had awful acoustics...

If it were at the Sports Arena then it was the best mixing that was EVER possible.

  • Its on You Tube done live to perfection.

  • I've seen early TULL, and Tull's 25th Anniversary Tour, and yet once again. Everytime I've seen Ian Anderson, it's been memoriable!!! FLAWLESS, CONSISE, PERFECTION!!!!!!!

Ian Anderson is a fucking genius!!!

  • insteed=anyways

    sorry ;)

  • amazing song, this was real music, nothing like the new shit ;)

    nice video insteed

  • Such fab pagan folklore!

  • This is a great video.

  • love pagan britain lore!
