  • Wow I want that

  • Is the mac mini a good choice for a home office set up. I have a core 2 duo mac but would like something a little more advanced.

  • Just to a mac mini! First Mac and I'm really pleased!

You must be a wizard with iMovie because your videos look so professional.

  • Nice video, I have a question. If you buy an app from the store (one which is NOT included when u buy the mac), for example Pages (assuming its not included when purchase), can you use it on 2 or more computers? Say you are already using it on a macbook pro, do you get a free download for mac mini and so on? Or would I have to buy it again?

  • Nice review! Very professional and straight to the point.

  • Can comeone please respond? I just got my mac air and I was wondering how to get CALL OF DUTY on mac? someone please respond... :/

  • @iskipmeals4games hey. you must go to apple.com and download something called bootcamp hope this helped :D

  • @iskipmeals4games Mac App Store

  • @iskipmeals4games You can buy it through the mac app store or on the internet at a game downloading website.

  • i watched this for 4 minutes and 30 seconds till i realized i have NO idea what hes talking about(:

  • great professional quality vid!

  • now that makes sense=S putting a ATI radeon on a Intel processor, what were they th(dr)inking in California?

  • Just the video i was looking for, thanks!

  • Great video. Do you think the standard Mac Mini would be suitable for basic use, internet browsing and a little bit of poker? I usually have other analysis programs running in background and maybe looking to install windows through bootcamp too. Sufficient specs to do this?? Not really looking on playing high graphics games...

    Thanks.

  • Guess what mac????? PC all the way!!!!!!!!

  • Guess what mac????? PC all the way!!!!!!!!1

  • my mac powerbook G4 scored a 684......

  • I was thinking about getting one of these just for running minecraft servers is it good for that stock I'm goona run a 24/7 server wich will probably get at most 200 ppl

  • the intro is loud

  • Hey, approximately how much was your iMac, with all of you upgrades in consideration?

  • i dont have any mac but still i am watching this! :(

  • (Early) 2011 MacBook Pro 2.2Ghz quad i7, 8gb RAM... 10145 Geekbench score.

  • Should I get a macbook pro or air?? or an iMac???????

  • @MrBLAHBLAH778 That really depends a lot on what you will be using it for...I would personally go for the MacBook Pro 15in because its portable and extremely powerful...You won't see much difference in performance between the iMac and the MacBook Pro so you might as well have the portability...Apple has such a sick line up of Macs theses days its really hard to decide...Hope this helped!

  • @TheMasterofganja Thanks man, I'll go for the Pro!

  • @MrBLAHBLAH778 imac :) ;)

  • Hi! would you recomend this for video and image editing? I'm from Argentina and i'm between this one ($599) or a big desktop PC with and i5 2500k, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd and 1gb vga, heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp, of course the pc is better on the numbers, but a Mac is a Mac.

  • ur iMac is rapeage :D. ur like apple itself, nice, basic, clean, clear, and yet very imformative.

  • Your video review of mac mini was awesome you deserve more likes, views and subscribers. subscribed

  • veeery nice. this shit is doing everything very well..

  • 2.5 ghz upgraded version worth it? how much better will it be for gaming?

  • @aRAUSEr7 The mac mini in the vid is the basic one where the memory used for graphics rendering is shared with other resources on the system, which is why it has a low FPS - if you are just browsing and watching movies its good but if you want to play crysis it's not :)

I am planning on getting one next month with the upgraded GPU (AMD) which will give you an independent memory use for graphics processing, much faster performance then the standard one, but ofcourse more expensive.

  • i love your reviews... best on youtube... nice voice and coverage..

  • MacBook pro I a can??? HaHaHa

  • Hi Michael, Thanks for the response, I've narrowed it down to either a MacBook Air or Pro 11-13" version, and will continue using my iPod Touch via an HRT iStreamer into the system. Once again your Video's have been a great source of insight. Enjoy the weekend. Regards, Oscar

  • iMac is pure weak sauce. A computer I paid 800 to build puts out twice the framerate.

  • @chillybawls What hardware did you use in your build?

  • Hi Michael, As a neighbor of yours from Harper Woods, Mi. I've to ask you several question as I'm looking to use either an iPad 2 with a mini Mac or MacBook Pro 13" to listen to tracks that aren't available on Vinyl via my stereo system. I've been told that I'd be able to access my iTunes library on the iPad 2, as I'd like to get Audiophile quality downloads from HD Tracks as well as a few other sites. In your mind which would be a better way to go?, as I seriously don't wish to look at a MacBo

  • @NosTubes58 I'm not sure what type of audio files you want to listen to, but I can tell you that a MacBook Pro is far more flexible in terms of what files you can playback. Audio formats supported by the iPad: HE-AAC (V1 and V2), AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV. FLAC is not supported.

  • i got 5896 on mac mini 2011 core i5 2.3 2 GB ram how did you get more

  • @faizanjoyia Are you running the 62bit version? Are there any other processes running while you're benchmarking?

  • @DetroitBORG no i am running the 32 bit and have no processes running while the benchmarking

  • Great video

  • Mac mini is the same of MacBook Pro

  • Nice vid Mike! Did you have auto white balance on, some of the screens seem to blow out during the video. Again you are forcing me to contemplate grabbing a Mac Mini! :( My wallet is crying right now haha.

  • @TekBeatTV I have auto-exposure on. I feel like an idiot right now because I don't know how to lock it while filming without holding a button. I have to break out the manual (hate doing that).

  • @DetroitBORG haha ic, well it's a Nikon so I can't offer much help on that end :(. But if I recall correctly I think you stated on twitter awhile back ago that you figured it out ;).

  • @TekBeatTV I thought I had, turn out all it did was enable the shutter button to act as A/E lock. BAH!

  • @DetroitBORG haha, well you have a Nikon 5100 right? Should be as simple as pressin Menu, go down to white balance and set your white balance to a specific mode other than auto or preset. In my case for my Canon I have a mode "Daylight" that sets it to 5200 temp. Depending on the lighting that you use, set it to that setting (flourescent, tungsten etc.). Let me know if that works.

  • I have a 2009 MacBook pro with 2.53ghz core 2 duo 4gb ram would a server 2.0ghz i7 8gb ram be a good upgrade for final cut pro x?

  • thought you only buy ssd?

  • Why is the ram so expensive?? 1066mhz 8gb ram costs about 35$!

  • @TechThoughts Your kidding, you think $35 is expensive for 8GB of ram? I'm in the UK, I paid about £80 from Crucial for 4GB for my mini last year, it's since come down to about £49 for 8GB.

  • I'm not sure I really like this new mac line without optical drive, I mean, games still needs dvds, There are a lot of dvds movies, blurays, If I want to watch the movie bonus on my mac, if this new thing, I can't, I have to buy the external optical drive and I guess this is so 90's, I don't know, maybe I'll have to get used to it.

  • Could you please add 8GB RAM to your mac mini and test the gaming performance again? That way you will get 512MB shared memory and you should benefit from it at high resolutions. BTW does anybody know how much the shared memory is at 16GB RAM?

  • Keep it up,loved the forum vid you participated in...I'm trying to to purchase product for product to keep up,but your a Pro,where as it's just a expensive hobby for me.I donate any of my year or older Apple products to The MB Society for the Disabled, those kids love them! Thank you for being a good mentor to me,thus allowing me to pay forward in life.....Your the Best!

  • to bad it is so expensive to get a SSD drive for the mac mini, but hopefully in time when SSD is cheap and common place mac mini's will come standard with SSD?

  • from your video about comparing the available mac computers really confirms to me the value of a mac mini in performance for its price.

  • super cool you are doing a upgrade video of the mac mini's ram to 8 GB! will be very interesting to see if more ram improves performance and bench mark scores?

I like the new mac mini and i don't miss the optical drive. I loved your video of upgrading your ram in your iMac using the crucial.com site. Your video helped me help a friend upgrade ram in his white core2duo 19 in. iMac. 2GB only cost my friend $40 at the crucial website.

  • @greysmoke321 The 8Gb upgrade really makes difference,I agree about the optical drive not being missed, have a great one.

  • Wow, when did a core i5, with 2 gigs of ram become a crap computer? Last year this would have beat the MacBook pro, this year it's crap? I think apple is starting to make the same mistake pc's did, faster and faster for no reason. People are going to catch on to this game soon.

  • awesome video, very informative!

  • @DetroitBORG Hmm...if you get time, could you do a video on reinstall of OS X Lion? Seeing as a DVD or USB drive doesn't come with it...

  • @Videoseeker234 That would be a good topic, maybe i will cover it in the future.

  • was dhat mw1 or mw2?

  • honestly your products reviews are better than tld and soldierkb.

You put lots of details for it.

  • giveaway ur old mac mini?

  • @tigerbeer1231 I don't have the old ones anymore. When i do a giveaway, it will be of something new :)

  • Great video!!! Especially you put a small screen demonstrating MBA's speed

  • Have you tried to play 10-15 mb/s 1080p mkv movies? Please do! I'm thinking of buyin this to my home cinema. :)

  • Great review! Can you please tell me if it can read a 50GB blu-ray without problems?

  • @rodrigosendas Sadly, there are no blu-ray drives compatible with OSX.

  • @DetroitBORG What? what do you mean? cant i download a program like powerdvd11 and see a blu-ray?

  • @DetroitBORG That's totally incorrect, all external Bluray drives should work, I have an LG one, OSX will read the disk, if you have the right software you can also burn a bluray, Toast for example. As for watching a bluray movie, you can't, at least not easily, you can rip it and watch from hard drive or boot into Windows with Bootcamp, there is a app out there that can play movies in OSX but right now it's like alpha software, so doesn't work well.

  • @DetroitBORG lookup "macblurayplayer", which was released recently.

  • The Mac Mini is also Good. When you have a TV you can use it as a TV and a Mac. Maybe also as a Aple TV. I think I will so this :D

  • i got 27.68 fps on my late 2009 21,5" iMac (core 2 duo, ati radeon hd 4680, 4gb RAM)...pretty good, huh ???

  • @iphomac

but your iMac is beaten in processor performance against new Mini's i5.

  • @HLM190586 yes but it's still pretty powerful for a 2009 iMac i think

  • My 600$ HP laptop gets same OpenGL score on GineBench than your over 3000$ iMac.

  • @JukiReviews Which one do you have? What GPU?

  • @DetroitBORG Its HP Pavilion DV6-6031EO. Radeon 6770m.

  • @JukiReviews

You're just a troll and exaggerating Mac price makes you more pathetic.

  • @HLM190586 Nope, I got Macbook Pro also, check my vids.

  • love your videos.. from england..

  • i get 39 MB/s on my 15" 2.66 '09 MacBook Pro :(

  • @DetroitBORG Does it use laptop RAM or desktop RAM?

  • What's the program for the Disk Speed Test?

  • @alanw516 Black Magic Disk Speed Test, it's available in the mac app store.

  • great video ended up getting the mac pro 13" after waiting for month for the new air i decided to go with the pro it was the extra storage on the hhd that finally swang it for me i was wondering do you know a good way to have your iTunes on two macs and be able to sync your iPod two both and keep them in sync lol heres hoping iCloud is gone sort this out once and for all

  • @aberbear Unfortunately, the iPod can only be synced to 1-library, and indeed iCloud will help to solve this issue, assuming you move your library to iCloud (or you buy your music entirely from iTunes).

  • what is the purpose you buy a mac mini ? U have iMac already !

  • @anipz90 He uses the Mac mini as a home theater PC. Did you watch the video? He connects it to his TV and says he's using it as a HTPC.

  • @anipz90 For me it's a Home Theater PC.

  • @anipz90 He gets paid to do the reviews

  • if you can upgrade then... yeah i might get it =/

  • It doesnt matter how long you have had the MBP. OS X, and especially Lion, are very very light weight OS's. Apple does not underclock their systems for battery usage.

  • @ryan4888 The MacBook Air uses less voltage on same GPU chipset however.

  • @DetroitBORG Oh geez. Your right. haha. Im not sure how that works... Maybe the Air just has a higher mAh battery?

  • PC ftw.

  • I got a question. I see all your videos. Buying new Mac's all the time. What do you do with your old ones? Sell, give, donate?

  • @DestroitBORG Geekbench does NOT take into account hard drive speed so the slightly higher score on the MBP was only due to the increased RAM.

  • Very cool!!!!

  • Hi cool review as always.

  • hey destroitborg,

i have a 2.0ghz macbook pro. i had issues with mien and applefinally caved in and offered me a new replacement. also, they said if i wanted i could upgrade to the 2.2ghz high end model for 450 dollars more, which also includes the anti glare screen. i was originally gonna stick with a new replacement for the same one, and add the 100 dollar anti glare, but a jump to a higher spec is tempting.

if u had this offer for 450 to jump ship, would u do it? lol

  • Thanks for the vid. I'm sorry to say, but I'm somewhat disappointed with the new mac mini. I know the various optical drive arguments, but I would have preferred one still. :( Btw, you have a very steady voice, you should consider being a part-time narrator for various media projects, including audiobooks, seriously. Cheers from the sun. :)

  • Dude you bought a computer with a HDD. I thought it was SSD only for you

  • @sccerstr09 Well, at $600 I can buy another Mac mini ;) I'd rather attempt the upgrade myself.

  • what is your favorite mac ? iMAc's, Mac mini's or the MacBook's ? :D

  • @ElectronikFreak iMac, always has been, probably always will be.

  • @DetroitBORG yep, every morning i think "whoa, what a amazing thing of technology" :D What do you think, will apple launch Apple the iPhone 4gs/5 and the new iPod's at the same Event's (Day's) ?

  • @DetroitBORG as always great vid. But I think only upgrading RAM won't affect performance that much, please consider upgrading to ssd(maybe a cheap one with little memory) so we can see how it handles opening that bunch of apps, thanks...

  • What is the best ssd I can get that has great storage space and won't break the bank?

  • @MonsterXboxPro Right now, I'd say the cheapest one, however still expensive, are the OWC SSDs. They are about $110-$135 for a 120GB SSD, but I can't remember.

  • @MonsterXboxPro There's a kingston one going for $280 right now, 256 GB storage. Google it , maybe. I don't remember the exact website.

  • also ssd config plz

  • I have an early 2010 Mac Mini and It's just the best computer I have ever owned. The OpenGL test in Cinebench has a higher number, and by the way it sucks they took away the superdrive, it is supposed to be a desktop computer. So I keep mine, for sure.

  • 5400rpm? That's awful.

  • @MrBarneyDinosaur If you don't like it then upgrade it.

  • again a cool videp

  • UNDER 300 CLUB!! :)

  • I want a Mac

  • Now compare it to a top-of-the-line PC from Maingear :D.

  • @mrisump Sure, will you send me one? ;)

  • @DetroitBORG If I could afford it, I probably would, yes. ;).

  • @mrisump Awww, thanks man ;)

  • @DetroitBORG whats the use in having so many computers ? .. get one or two really good ones perhaps ?

  • Comment removed

  • can i have it

  • AWEZOM! :)

  • That tiny little thing does pack a punch

  • about time. XD

  • first!

    my first time!
