  • I've never seen colour applied like this before. The result is gorgeous!

Did you take the lowlight colour to the ends?

  • @MyBellaColorStudio thank you so much for your help x

  • Wow niceee i love ur job

  • @bunnycut3 Thank you! Me too! :)

  • Good job .wow !!!!

  • @pinkjenStewart Thank you! :)

  • gorgeoussss x i have bleached white/platinum blonde hair and was thinking of get just a couple of dark brown semi permanent lowlights put through as my mums friend had it done and her hair is the same shade of blonde as mine, i like my white hair and the brightness of it and if i decided to go ahead with lowlights i dont want the luminous and glow in the dark brightness taken away by too many lowlights how can i do them without too many? replies much appreciated thanks x

  • @TaniquaBabesxx Hi... just saw this... I've been jammed behind the hair chair since prior to Thanksgiving... of 2011 ;) ... I'm doing well... and NOW... YES too many lowlights and wrong application can result in drab and uneven overall color appearance. ... I suggest that you choose only few pieces of hair... select them as you would like to see them fall into your hair and under your hair... Do not paint every lowlight all the way out. Piece them out - finger them out. 10 vol.

  • Bellissimo! Her cut is so pretty too!

  • Hi im trying to add really thin lowlights to my platinum blonde hair. In this video I noticed you already had each section spaced out before dying. My question is, how do you space it? How thick or thin?

  • beatyfull me encanta.

  • Looks great!

  • I heard when folding the Tin foil it causes more bleeding then regularly. true or false?

  • Watched some of your videos for this first time today. Had to subscribe because I love the hair colors on this video! I am in Austin, TX and need to find new stylist. Do you know anyone in this area that you can recommend? Thanks!

  • what are you doing to the pieces that are not in the foil? Ive never seen them being worked on before.

  • Hello Sharon ,your video is excellent ,can you tell me please what brain company name of foils and bleach you are use, thank you very much for your help

  • Hi Sharon i love these technique u r extremly amazing love ur videos n im in love whit hair color im been doing hair for 3 years n u are my inspartion when im doing hair color.... i feel passion for hair color but still meny things that i dont know jet im hispanic n the techinques are so difrent but i use meny of ur techniques n i love the end of my work but is more easy to work on caucasian hair then hispanic hair..can i ask witch brand that u use on color n bleach...xoxo thanks 4ur videos.

  • Can I ask what color line you use? Lightener? Im having the bleeding problem... you mentioned something about not pushing down on the previous foils... I think thats my problem but Im not understaning how not to. Either that or my foils aren't staying in place... do you have a way of locking your foils in place? Thank you so much!

  • @elainejenniffer Hi there i know this might sound stupid what does bleeding problem means?because i want to also get blonde hightlights thanks

  • @blondefreestylegal Bleeding means that the bleach leaks out of the foils and begins to "bleed" onto the scalp. This creates spots of lighter hair at the scalp. Bleeding is NOT preferred at all. Bleeding happens when the bleach is too thinly mixed. Or the bleach swells in the foil (some bleaches swell more than others). And bleeding also can occur if the foils are pressed down on too hard after they have been placed. LOTS to think about! BUT when bleach is used correctly, there is NO bleeding.

  • @blondefreestylegal it means when the color from the highlight runs on your other hair your not trying to highlight

  • @elainejenniffer The type of bleach used is important. (write me an email here). And how thick or thin it is mixed. And how well the foils are folded... and at what angle they are placed and folded. LOTS to take into account. And yes, pressing down on previously placed foils can cause bleeding. Just pay attention to placement. BUT texture of bleach used is key! I will share my favorite with you. Just email. :-)

  • i looooooooooved

  • you are GOOD! how do you prevent the hair color & bleach from bleeding at the root?

  • @kbreezybaby09 :-) When I place the color or bleach onto the hair ON the foil, I hold the edge of the foil up tight against the scalp. I use my favorite brush for the job so I can get close and NOT have bleeding. The correct amount of hair, the correct amount of product, the correct fold of the foil edges. Never press down on the already folded foils. And never let the Client move the foils! Too much product will run. Too drippy of bleach will run. Bleach that swells will run. Happy to help. :)

  • Beautiful work :) I have a question, I went to school for Hairdressing and not as keen to doing low lights on platinum blonde hair. I have 2 clients that would like lowlights to break up the blonde they have. I was taught to fill the hair 1st with a red tone then to apply the desired colour on top. Is there a way to apply low lights without filling in the hair to speed up the process and if the client does not like a red tinch? Could i use level 5 or 6 but with copper, or auburn gold?

  • @melaniep1019 Thank you for writing. Yes, you can use a color for the lowlight that has a Natural base and add some gold to it to prevent the result from looking drab (ash). I like to use a combo of Level 7N and Level 7 Gold. I also use 6 gold and 7N. If the hair is finer... then I use a 10 vol. If the hair is coarse or thicker than I use a 20. And, ALWAYS make certain to press the color of the lowlight INTO the hair IN the foil so that it is evenly distributed. :-)

  • @astyson13 Awesome! I am so happy that my hair videos here on youtube are helping you learn different techniques!! It is my goal to help and share my knowledge and skills with other Stylists so that they too can have as much fun and enjoy such happiness from their hair career as I do from mine. Making people more beautiful, and happier is extremely rewarding in life. :-)

  • i was wondering if you taught classes?

  • @manndabadd I have taught color classes in the past and am always wanting to teach more! I believe I will be opening up for additional classes after the first of the year. Please write me a message and give me your contact info so that I can let you know when the classes will be scheduled. :-) Thank you for writing. Happy to have Artists join forces!!

  • That is so amazing a true professional at work I would be in hair heaven to get a beautiful blonde like that my girl is lovely but never gets close enough & doesn't get it that in your 40's you need a superb blonde hair colour as greys & whites are a menace.

  • @sum41doll Lowlights usually last for quite some time unless the lowlight is placed onto previously bleached and porous hair. On average - lowlights placed on to hair that is very porous will last up to 6 weeks. When placed onto hair that is not overly porous the lowlight should remain in the hair, with only slight to little fading. I suggest using a lowlight that is up to two levels darker than the desired color so that fading can occur while still achieving the end goal.

  • Hi Ms. Sovinski, I absolutely love this technique video and the results were brilliant. I would like to know how much it would cost for me to have this done and if there's a discount if I bring my own products?

  • @acalilove2007 Thank you. :-) The prices for hair color services on our Studio website at My Bella Color Studio dot com. ... and, we've got all the color supplies in stock. :-)

  • I love this color blonde to blonde and lowlight you the best thanyou

  • The camera was too far away ):

  • @lilmissgaga I'll make sure to get closer shots as I continue to video my work. :-) Thank you for the feedback. :-)

  • @app0l0nia I ask that you please write me an email pertaining to the color brand I use. However, being that Hair Color is universal, you can use any line - Level 7N to achieve the Medium Natural Blonde lowlight. Any questions please email. :-)

  • beautiful job, I would like to have that for myself :)

  • @sixpackbinky Thank you! I'd love to help you achieve the hair color you want! We're in Burbank CA. Wish you could make it in! ;-)

  • @carastarr This is the art of the bleach touch up!! When I foil, I bring the bleach up to the line and then make certain it doesn't overlap. IF there is a tiny band from prior root touch up then I will use a dry-er powder bleach and allow it to be brushed onto the previously lightened hair. The use of Powder Bleach is in itself an art form. And while it can damage when NOT done properly, when it is done correctly, with perhaps several volumes of peroxide - the touch up blends in perfectly.

  • did u use bleach and 7N?

  • @ccnnhtdt Please see in my comment below this one for more info... I used 1/2 ounce Level 5 Blue Violet with 1 1/2 ounce Level 6 Natural - 20 volume creme peroxide.

  • WOW awesome<33

  • Thank you. :-)

  • you r not wearing any gloves at all ?? wow, i can't do that .... but i love your foiling technique just cant stop watching your clips 5/5

  • I know - I get busted for not always wearing gloves. Yet, sometimes I do!! :-) Thank you for the compliments on my work. I love what I do. With or without gloves. But preferably with gloves if the hair colors are dark!

  • Thanks for this technique! I went to visit my mom and of course i did her hair. I did the low lights from roots down to the mid shaft and the results came out very natural. i was really impressed on the how pretty the color turned out with out running it all the way down to the ends. Thanks.

  • Fantastic that you are carefully watching and learning new hair coloring foiling techniques from my videos. Sounds like you are having a lot of fun trying out the new techniques and are getting great results! I'll be uploading more videos as i am able.

  • hi love you work!

had a question when you are applying the freehand bleach to the ends are you applying to the hair in between these foils?

and are you going back to back w the lowlight and the highlite, then leaving some natural hair out inbetween?

  • Thank you. I believe that in this video I am working all the hair/regrowth with foils - back to back. The only hair left "out" are the previously lightened ends... and the free handed bleach on those selected pieces is to "pop" it brighter and lighter... gently, since once the bleach is dry it stop lightening. There are no foiling rules that I follow - such as lowlight, highlight, skip, etc. I take each section and design as to what I see it needs. :-) Thank you for writing.

  • i love your work, what color brand do you use

  • Hi there. Thank you for writing. Please write me an email so I can answer you directly regarding the color line I use. :-)

  • I will say this,u r so good at doing hair. That I would fly there just to get my hair done.:)

  • Awesome! Fly in in to Burbank and I'll be happy to assist you! :-)

  • and what is your low light color?

  • 1/2 ounce Level 5 Blue Violet with 1 1/2 ounce Level 6 Natural - 20 volume creme peroxide. Not all lowlights are painted through to the ends. Some are "fingered" down into the length. When painting the lowlight all the way to the ends, the color can appears more drab since the ends may get "inky".

  • the bleach came out beautiful, do you have to tone at all? and what type of bleach do you use?

  • Clairol Basic White powder bleach with 10 volume creme peroxide. I'm a big believer in using gentler products... and leaving it on longer than using a higher volume for less time. :-) No toner needed. PS I'm a no toner girl - ever! ;-)

  • P.S. My stylist is making a 3rd attempt at fixing my hair. Her next attempt is to foil the light blonde and just color all of the remaining hair with the secondary color. It appears that from your video she's WRONG AGAIN. You foiled both colors. My hair is short like yours. Your hair is a beautiful blonde with the secondary contrast color that looks GREAT. I'm so frustrated and you're SOOOO good. I live in Columbus, Ohio and without hope here to find someone like you. HELP....

  • Look for Shari Hunter in Columbus. You can find her on facebook. If you can't locate her, let me know and I will help you. She's an awesome colorist from the Los Angeles area who is now working in your area. :-) Thank you for your compliments. I'll do my best to help you get the hair color you desire!!

  • Wow, you are AWESOME!!!! I've spent the past 4 YEARS trying to find a colorist to do what you do with no success. I want the very light highlights on top with depth underneath and no one in Columbus, Ohio knows how to do that correctly. My hair looks terrible. PLEASE tell me how do I effectively communicate to a stylist what you've done with this girls hair to achieve the light blonde with the depth mixed in. THANK YOU, Linda

  • The best you can do is to have your Stylist look at this video... but I also wrote above in response to your other comment that there is a Stylist/Colorist named Shari Hunter in your area. :-) Do let me know if you can find her. If not, I will help you more.

  • What brand of bleach and color do you use?

  • Check your inbox. :-)

  • I was bouncing off the walls with excitement when I read your reply and I found Shari on Facebook. The bad news is that she's in Cleveland, Ohio which is 3 hours from me. Now I want to cry again.....I want to thank you very much for responding though and trying to help me. If you should get tired of sunny California and want a change of scenery, Ohio would be a great place and I will be there to meet you at the PLANE. Any other suggestions would be much appreciate.

  • Oh my - Cleveland. Shoot! Well, I'm originally from Wheeling WV and went to Art School at the Columbus College of Art & Design back in 1984! Perhaps I need to go to Columbus and do a day or two of hair for you and your friends. :-) OR you can come to LA anytime!! :-) BUT, If you look for women with great hair cuts in your area, just ask WHO did it!! And track down the Stylist for yourself. :-)

  • @MyBellaColorStudio

I would love you forever if you would come here and fix my hair. She ruined my hair AGAIN. I'm sitting here in tears this morning. I can't find ANYONE in this area that knows how to color hair correctly. I'm just sick over it.

  • Oh my.... I wish I could help!!! Perhaps you need to come to Burbank!! I am so sorry you have not been able to achieve the hair color combination you desire. Think it over... you arrive here, we'll make a video on how to do it correctly.

  • Do you get bleeding when you use your hands to fold your foils? It seems like you are pushing the foils down

  • I do fold the foils by hand because I place the foil directly at the parting section that I have taken. Many times I place the color (or bleach) directly onto the scalp/hair in that section. It is the control of the amount of color or bleach that allows me to do this - meaning... the correct consistency allows for NO bleeding. Thank you for asking. :-)

  • your sooo bad ass.. !!! Keep the videos coming !!!

  • Thank you so much! I have more videos to edit... but am stuck behind the hair chair!! ;-) Will get to edit more soon! Hang in there and thank you for the encouragement! Means a lot!

  • I love ittttttt

I have a question for u I have medium dark brown hair and would like to go lighter what do you think i should do just regular highlights or two tone highlights??????????

  • What a gorgeous colour!! Great job!

  • Thank you very much! Hair Coloring is my passion! Can't seem to keep my hands out of hair!

  • Thank you! I love being a Colorist! Thank you so much for your wonderful acknowledgment of my work.

  • I like the way u do ur job!!!

  • Thank you!

  • QUESTION: Hi, im realy want to add some blonde highlights to my hair. Im on a swimteam and swim in chlorine everyday for a few hours, and heard that highlights would tottaly fade out. Is this true? And what could i do, to make my hair look blonder?

  • Dear Miss Swimmer!!

Chlorine will lighten your hair, and sometimes cause the hair "color" placed into the hair to turn odd shades of "swimmer green".

I suggest that you only LIGHTEN your hair, and NOT add color since you are a regular swimmer.

Hair is lightened with Hair Bleach...

Always WET your hair before getting into the pool.

Always saturate with conditioner - before!

    Always shampoo and condition afterward!

  • Beautiful job ! thanks for the video

  • Thank you and you are welcome!

  • Wow! Beautiful. Was this clients hair natural to begin with? What about this technique on hair that has been highlighted previously with a 7N (colored) base?

  • Beautiful!!

  • If i win lotto tonight be expecting me by the end of the week !! I so hate you for being on the other side of the planet.. boo hoo hoo :(

  • This blonde on blonde color combination was created with permanent hair color by Clairol, and Basic White powder bleach by Clairol.

The lowlights were not pulled all the way through to maintain the lighter ends (and to avoid too opaque of ends).

  • Wow, I love it! I wish mine was like that.I color my hair way too much to go blonde.I color it red a lot.I use demi color now.

  • hey - your videos are really interesting. i love watching how fast you work! im a student and was wondering what bleach powder your using? it looks really creamy and easy to work with....

  • why didn't you go all the way to the ends with the lowlights? What color line did you use?

  • Blonde on medium blonde on light brown... Use a Blue Violet for the medium blonde to cut through the orange... and use belach to get the Butter Blonde.. and I like a Level 5 blue violet with a level 6 natural for the darkest lowligjht. Nape is almost natural since I can't reach it too well when I do my color. :-) Cheers to you!

  • i love your hair!!! mine is a copper and i would love to have it like yours. how can I?

  • Absolutely beautiful! What brand of color do you use?

  • is so cuteeeeee

  • Thank you for your compliments on my hair work.

  • 20 vol cream peroxide

  • I used a level 7 N + blue violet for the low light.

  • Most certainly can be used on african american hair. Partings and size of sections is key no matter the texture of the hair itself. Feel free to ask more.

  • wow can that technique be used for afro hair

  • Thank you for your compliments on this highlighting work. There are highlights around the face, but the foil placements were not shown due to wanting to not film my Client's face by her request.

  • Fabulous - absolutely!!

  • perfect hair color i like it im gonna get that done

  • wonderful job!
