@Mortalvis Up until the mid-to-late Sixties (and possibly the early Seventies), the term 'boner' held the meaning of 'blooper' or 'mistake'. Batman first appeared in May of 1939, and judging by the style that this comic was drawn in, I would estimate it to be mid-40's to early-50's-era, which would account for the (to modern readers) odd usage of the word. Out of context, though, this is all that I can say, as story-wise it may have meant something completely different.

@Mortalvis That's because you're thinking way to literally, and with a modern view on language. "Laughing at [his] mistake" makes perfect sense. The next sentence is a classic villain "I'll show them just how X I can Y". With that in mind, the second sentence doesn't even have to make sense in and of itself, it's more the intention of revenge that is implied. "Rue the day" line is doing much the same with the term 'boner', using it as another revenge-worthy item.

The Joker is continuing in a vein quite understood in the time of publication: He's furious over the term used, as it implies an idiotic screw-up of a mistake, and he's plotting to make Batman look like the fool for a change. You need to learn to think three-dimensionally, and not look at words as simple marks on a piece of paper.
