  • I want to do this prank on my friend but I'm scared that his mac will shut down and that when he restarts it I won't be able to do something before it shutdowns again, I'm not a mac user so can someone help me on how to stop the shutdown from happening again after the prank has been made?

  • Can someone help me? I made it so applescript opens when I login, and I made the command for finder to shut down. Now every time I log in, my computer shuts down. How do I stop it?

  • @chricolwould32rock safe mode (hold down shift after the chime) or if you backed up before doing the script, boot into your Mac OS X installation disk and use time machine from the utilities.

  • @vaibzzz123 Thanks for helping. I fixed it awhile ago, by opening Word before it could shut down and typing a few words. Then it would ask me if I wanted to save the changes, and I would hit CANCEL, thus canceling shutdown so I could delete the file. This was a really stupid trick I pulled on myself, and the funny thing is it was on my school laptop!

  • @chricolwould32rock no problem ;) (p.s I don't own a Mac, yet)

  • YOU LITTLE RASCAL!

  • how would u make ur mac go to sleep like open the script and then make it go to sleep

  • hey.. umm problem.. i cant quit the app script.. it goes really fast.. help? and i also dont have a login guest account

  • @shadowheart43 When you boot up, after hearing the chime hold the Shift key. This will boot you into safe mode where you can remove it from your login items.

  • you can bring this into automator and add quit all applications first. From there you can have the person save before it closes. If you are wanting to force quit, this is a great way to do it.

  • cool! thanks I made a prank too! Quit everything. Then take a snapshot of the screen. Then put it in a slideshow and Voila! It'll work! And they'll be clicking with nothing happening.

  • you sound like a fag

  • you have the smallest dock

  • guys i was bored so i wrote a pop-up program that goes on forever around 4,000 pop-ups!!!!!! pm me and I'll send it to you. but beware ive disguised it to look like Safari 5 beta (which doesnt exist.....yet.) just dont accidently open it!!!

  • btw if u dont want me to email u the file, ill pm u back with wat u should copy and paste into applescript!

  • lol thats wat i did 2

  • do a video on macro pranks i really want to learn to do that

  • Macro pranks?

  • The problem with the automatic shut-down app is if any applications are open, it won't shut down without asking to quit them, so it can only work if no other applications are on, or if you victim is an idiot.

  • it only asks if there is unsaved changes. lol imagine if u try it on ur own computer so u cant even use it n e more

  • i did the first 1 and i tested it and i could not get it off for a while lol

  • defaults write com.apple.dock orientation top

    kill -1 `ps auxc | grep 'Dock' | awk '{print $2}'`

use these commands in terminal to put the dock on top to make it even MORE frusterating!

  • Unfortunately, you cannot put the dock on top in Leopard.

For the second command, you could simple use: "killall Dock". Much simpler. :)

  • dude you rock

  • these r the meanest pranks ever thats like on april fools day goin to ur frends house nd stealin his dog

  • Nice Video, Definetly going to use it!

  • mean!! hahaha i like the shutdown one, but i would be soooo pissed if i had to re-customize my dock from scratch. so future pranksters, please make backups

  • really cool. !;) aha.. i like bothh. make them favo. going to try both when my friend buy a mac. he do that soon. :D

  • dude show us how to get the little blue light under apps on the dock!!and really nice/funny pranks

  • im on tiger version 10.4.11
